Chapter 34 #2

My efforts aren’t missed though, because he tries his hardest not to laugh. When I look at him with narrowed eyes and throwing him a look that is full of fake anger, he simply shakes his head before giving the screen in front of him his attention.

The almost stern look that is placed on his face is both scary and sexy at the same time.

“Mr. Becker, I apologize for interrupting but I’m going to need to cut this meeting short.

My offer stand at what it currently is. I know that you have strong opinions on that Mr. Becker and think that your company is worth more,” Elliot says interrupting someone on his screen and stopping them from speaking, “but the numbers that you are throwing out aren’t possible.

Not for something like this. You have my numbers and my contact information.

If you wish to follow through, please contact my assistant and we will draw up the paperwork. Until then, have a good day.”

He clicks something on the screen and I’m left standing in place in awe.

“Damn. That was hot.”

He leans back in his chair and and lets out an almost snort.

“That was hot?” He asks, one of his perfect eyebrows lifting in question.

I should ask them if he gets them done. They are way too perfect and definitely don’t fit the whole single guy persona he has worn for years.

My head bobs in a yes as I close the distance to his desk.

“Yes. Hot. Very executive like. I can see you taking Bennett out of his position one day.”

That comment has him letting out a snort. “Hate to break it to you, sweetheart, but if you are only with me to be with a CEO one day, you’re with the wrong guy. Bennett already named his replacement, and it ain’t me.”

“Darn it. There goes my plan to be your sugar baby for the rest of my life. Do you think his replacement needs one?” I bat my eyelashes for effect.

This time he lets out a booming laugh.

“You can ask, but you two bat for the same team, so I doubt that she would give you the same benefits of sugar baby that I give you.” He throws me a wink.

Before I’m able to lose myself in his flintiness, a question leaves me.

“Bennett’s CEO replacement is a she?” In my head, the corporate world is ruled by men, so the fact that Bennett is naming a woman to take his place when he ultimately steps down, is pretty awesome.

Elliot nod. “It is.”

“Ella?”

He shakes his head no. “Sam.”

That is… surprising but also amazing.

“I didn’t know that she worked here too.” I say, as I place the bag of food on his desk and start taking things out.

“Not a lot of people do,” he says, his eyes never wavering from me. “She works with the applied science department but is able to work from wherever she is the majority of the time.”

I nod as I place a burger in front of him.

“So what you’re telling me is that you and your siblings are all over achievers?

” He gives me a smirk in response. “Damn. Never thought I would meet a bunch of nepo babies with seven figure trust funds that actually want to work and make a name for themselves in society.”

“Nine figures.” Elliot states.

My eyes go wide and travel up to his. “Nine? You told me in Vegas that it was seven.”

His smirk grows a bit more. “Mine grew two digits when I turned thirty.”

My mouth falls open.

I don’t know what stuns me more. The fact the man in front of me has a nine-figure trust fund that he probably will never touch because of the money he has made on his own. Or the fact that he is so damn nonchalant about having nine figures to his name.

“And when do you get these nine figures?” I ask, curiosity as always getting the best of me.

“At thirty-five. So if I were you, I would stick around until then because that money hits those sugar baby benefits will go into high drive.”

I raise an eyebrow at him, loving him this relaxed and joking around.

“Oh yeah?”

“One hundred percent.”

In that moment, the food I brought is absolutely forgotten and I walk around his desk. He must have read my mind because before I even round the piece of furniture, he pushes back his chair and opens his arms for me to walk into and lets me sit on his lap.

“And what will these high drive benefits be?” I ask, wrapping my arms around his neck.

His arms tighten around my body before he speaks. “Whatever you want.”

“A house?”

He scoffs a bit, a smile forming on his lips that I so much want to lean in and kiss. “You can ask for more than just a singular house.”

“An island to put that singular house?”

He nods and gives me an expression as if he’s really thinking about it. “With an island, you’d need a boat and a car to get around while you are there.”

“I’ll take both, but can I request the biggest yacht known to man? I need to be comfortable when we head to the island.”

A chuckle rumbles through his body and vibrating through mine. “You might as well add a private jet to the list.”

“Oh yes, we definitely need a jet. That way we can fly all over the world and you can take me to all the high-end places to shop. You know, to keep up that sugar baby lifestyle and all.”

Another laugh rolls through him and I can’t help but to sink deeper into his hold.

I love every moment I get to spend with Elliot, but I think I love the moments where he is relaxed and laughing more than anything.

It’s as if in these moments, a light shines out of him and brightens him up like it has never done before.

I live for these moments, even if they are small and short. They make my day.

“You know, you can also get those things wearing another title, not just as a sugar baby.”

A smile spreads across my face as I rest my head against his shoulder. A warmness envelopes me.

“Is that your way of finally stopping the dance that we’ve been doing for weeks and putting a label on this? Officially making me yours?”

His fingers digging into my thigh were to the rest. “You did meet my family and you let me trauma dump on you the same night. Plus you brought me lunch, I think that warrants a label. What do you think?”

Butterflies flutter in my stomach as the question leaves his lips. He’s leaving it up to me, just like he always does.

Thing one million that makes him different than Jack. My ex and this man right here are on two different universes and Jack will never reach Elliot’s, even if he tried.

I push away from him ever so slightly so that I can look at his face.

“I think,” I start as I look at his lips and let my eyes travel up to his, “I think I want to be yours. The feelings for you are something that I can’t explain.

They are way more than like and nearly at the level of love and I don’t want to give that up.

You make me want to throw all my fears of commitment out the window.

You make me feel so many things that others haven’t.

” I pause and with a smile, place a chest kiss against his lips.

“I want to be yours. Now and until you get sick of me.”

His mouth quickly lands on mind before it quickly disappears.

“Never. I will never grow sick of you and I never want to get rid of you.” he says before taking his own pause. “Never, though, does bring a question.”

“What question would that be?”

“Would you be okay with the possibility of me ever buying you that yellow diamond ring from Tiffany’s you mentioned a while back?”

That fact that remembers that mundane detail from so long ago, brings both a flush and a smile to my face.

“You are more than welcome to buy me that ring anytime you want,” I throw him a wink, “the meaning behind it might be something that I have to work toward. I love my mom and stepdad’s relationship and I love how happy they are, but I don’t know if marriage is for me.

I will be committed to you, no matter what, but I don’t think I need a piece of paper to show it. ”

His eyes dance with mine for about a minute. “You and I are on the same page then.”

“You don’t want to get married?” I ask, a bit of shock in my voice.

Elliot shakes his head. “It wasn’t until I was older that I realized that my parents didn’t have the healthiest relationship and it sort of put me off. Bennett and Ella have been great with teaching me what a marriage should look like, but even then it hasn’t appealed to me.”

I give him a smile. “Do you think you and I were cut from the same cloth?”

“It’s possible.” His smile gleams. “So are we doing this? Are we officially putting a label on what is happening between us? I’m more than willing to keep this up when you go back to Austin as well just so you know.”

That causes me to bunch up my eyebrows. “Why would I go back to Austin?”

“Because that’s your home?” He gives me a questionable look. “Your contract at the hospital is finished in two months, then you will go back to Texas.”

Oops.

I never told him about me possibly making my stay here in Chicago a bit more permanent.

“Actually,” I start letting out a nervous laugh, “I meant to tell you this sooner, but I went to the nurse manager a few weeks ago and talked to her about a permanent position. I haven’t heard anything back officially but she did tell me a few days ago that she may have a spot for me coming.”

Elliot’s eyes widen for a second. “But what if the spot doesn’t come.”

I shrug. “There are plenty of places in Chicago to apply to.”

His eyes gleam and it’s my favorite thing in the world. “So you are staying in Chicago?”

I nod curtly. “I’m staying in Chicago.”

The smile that takes over his face right there and then is one I want to take a picture of and carry with me forever.

“I guess I’ll cancel the realtor in Austin.”

Color me puzzled. “Realtor?” Why the fuck would he need a realtor in Austin?

He nods. “Didn’t you hear me just say I never want to get rid of you? If you were going to Austin, then so was I.”

I’m absolutely stunned. “You would move for me?”

Something crosses his face as he looks at me for a second, then two. After what feels like the longest and shortest minute of my life, his left hand travels up my body until he is cupping my face.

“Yeah, I would move for you. I would move with you. I would move wherever you go.”

Tears start to from in my eyes, but I hunker them down. “Why?”

He leans in ever so slightly and speaks just as his lips brush mine.

“Because you’re not the only one that can’t explain what you feel. My feelings for you are more than like and so damn close to love. I would be a fool to let that go. I would be a bigger fool to let you slip through my fingers.”

Our lips meet and for a few seconds it feels like the first time. As our tongues dance together, it’s as if we are back in Vegas and we are experiencing each other for the first time. It feels utterly amazing and I never want it to end.

“How fancy is your office?” I ask, as my lips leave his and make their way down his next.

“What do you mean?” He asks, sounding breathless.

“This company makes fancy tech stuff.” I plant a kiss just above the collar of his shirt. “You should be able to lock your door from here, right?”

I press my teeth ever so slightly into his skin and he lets out a groan.

“Fucking hell.” He lets out, as he shifts under me.

I think he is shifting to adjust himself or to tell me that we shouldn’t be doing what I’m thinking here, but no, that doesn’t happen. Instead, he simply shifts do tap a few buttons on is keyboard and within seconds a clicking sound through the office.

I can’t help but let out a giggle.

“Gotta love fancy offices,” I say, shifting myself until my knees are resting against the floor and I’m situated between Elliot’s thighs.

His eyes burn with lust and I have to bite down on my lip to hold in a moan. The things I want this man to do to me.

“Are we really doing this?” The question leaves his mouth and I don’t even thing before I answer.

“Yes.”

Whether he is talking about us officially coming together as a couple or if I am in fact about to blow into the next universe, I don’t know.

All I know is that the answer to everything is yes.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

Yes to absolutely everything with him.
