Chapter 8 #2
Blitz’s lips land on mine, harsh and unforgiving.
I instantly open for him, allowing him to dominate my mouth.
Running my hands up into the hair at the base of his head, I grip it, pulling him closer to me.
To finally feel his mouth on mine, tasting him, feeling him pressed to me as I’ve only ever dreamed of.
We get so lost in the kiss that it's not until someone clears their throat, chuckling, that we pull apart.
Blitz cups my cheeks, tilting my head down to kiss me on the top of my head.
I press my face into Blitz’s chest to hide the blush I know is spreading from my hairline to my toes.
“As great as all that fucking was, we still have some very big issues to deal with,” Anvil says.
I decide to be a coward and stay hidden in Blitz's chest. He stands, pulling me up with him as he stands, and then he takes my seat and sits me down onto his lap. My face instantly goes to the crook of his neck.
“We need to know which man was with you tonight and what he wanted, and also how Nova ties back into all of this,” Raider’s words aren’t harsh, but they aren’t pleasant either.
“Come on, Charlie, let's get this over with so we can figure out our next fucking steps,” Blitz whispers in my ear.
Groaning, I look back to the table at the other men. “The man who was here earlier was a Knight. He told me that there were several of them around. Meaning if I didn’t speak with him, they would start hurting people here and it didn’t matter who it was.” My words are flat.
Terro cocks an eyebrow, “I’m sorry, you know enough about how MCs work, and you believed him?”
Shifting my hip so I can get to my back pocket, I pull the folded paper out, sliding it onto the table.
Anvil reaches out, picks up the paper, and unfolds it.
His face grows darker and darker the longer he looks at it.
Yeah, same! Anvil passes the picture to the rest of the other guys, each one growing angry at the sight.
I want to say that I’m embarrassed or even the slightest bit ashamed of the picture.
“Charlie girl, I have no words,” Terro’s words are so quiet that they barely make it to me.
“Yeah,” I sigh. “I have no idea when that picture was taken or what was happening. All I know is that it was taken in the Knights' clubhouse on a night they nearly killed me. Nova couldn’t have been more than seventeen at the time.”
“Goddamn it! Those assholes will not make it out of this still breathing,” Mercy’s snarl is a promise.
“The man slid that across the bar to me when I gave him his drink. I unfolded it, nearly losing what little I had eaten today. Spinning around, he pointed at the door, mouthing now to me and flashing a gun. I gave him a nod, and that’s when I pulled Anvil over to help Sunny behind the bar.”
“Why didn’t you tell me, or grab another brother and say what was going on? It was one man,” Anvil asks me.
“That is the one thing you will have to remember about the Knights. They’re like cockroaches.
If you see one of them, there are at least fifteen you don’t know about,” I state flatly.
“If he was willing to flash a gun in the middle of the clubhouse with so many people there, that means he knew there were enough of his guys here to cover him. I was not going to be responsible for heat coming down on the club with so many of the public around.”
“We can respect that,” Raider nods, pride in his eyes.
That look warms my chest. All I’ve wanted since coming into this club is to be seen as more than a burden and charity case.
“Walk us through what happened next.” Terro crosses his arms over his chest, darkness swirling in his eyes.
“I followed him out of the clubhouse towards the pool area. He stopped walking and looked around before pinning me to his side. Then he told me to take him somewhere we could talk unbothered. I nodded and pulled away, leading him to the beach area by the lake. As soon as we got out there, he pressed his front to my back, grinding into me. It took everything I had not to get lost in the darkness that was working to pull me under. Jerking away from him, I spun around, demanding to know what they wanted. The guy said they wanted Shea back, Relic’s list of names he sold the girls to.
That list apparently has some really important people on it.
There was one time I remember that NOS forgot to drug me up when a couple of men in suits came to the clubhouse asking about when the next round of new dolls were going to be available.
To be honest, I was completely shocked to hear these men talking about dolls,” I let the words flow like word vomit.
The more I talk, the faster Hermes types on his computer. Suddenly, he stops and looks up. For the first time in longer than I’m willing to admit, he grins. “You fucking did it.”
“What did I do exactly?” I’m so confused.
“Relic had a lot of his notes, lists, and records handwritten to keep it all from being hacked and easier for him to make sure he knew exactly whose eyes would be on it. What we couldn’t seem to find was his true client list. The growing list of high-powered people who were doing unspeakable things to women and children.
Raider was able to find a locked program.
We were sure the file contained some of the information.
I’ve been working to crack into it for months until today.
You, my dear, just gave us the last bit of information I needed to finally crack it.
” Hermes’ excitement causes a smile to stretch across my face.
“We’ll come back to all that in a bit,” Raider waves him off. “What did the Knights want you to do?”
“They wanted me to spy on y’all. Report any and everything I saw or heard which might have to do with sex trafficking.
He said that the Knights don’t believe for a second that Relic was the only one involved.
They also want to know where Shea is. According to him, she is NOS’s Ol’ Lady, and by us keeping her from him we’re declaring war,” I finish telling them as exhaustion like I haven’t felt in so long sweeps over me.
