Chapter 12 #2
“Are you seriously going to make us beg, or are you going to just tell us?” Ainsley finally explodes.
Turning with a small smile on my face, I lean back on the dresser. “What exactly are you wanting to know?”
Their mouths drop open in shock before they slowly look at each other and then back at me.
I just raise my eyebrows in question. They sit there like that for a long time before I burst out laughing.
Bending over, I prop my hands on my knees as I continue laughing while they look at me like I’ve lost my shit.
“Charlie, are you okay? Have you finally fucking cracked?” Tasia questions, looking a little bewildered.
I finally get my laughing under control. “I needed that.”
“What exactly did you need? We’re trying to get some questions answered, and you’re laughing like a hyena,” Ainsley grumbles with her arms crossed over her chest.
“After the last month or so, and everything that has been going on, I’ve been a mess and just needed to laugh.” I shrug like it’s no big deal.
“Yeah, I can see that. Now that you’ve gotten that off your chest, why don’t you tell us what exactly is going on.
Nova is gone, the men are all worked up, and we’re now on lockdown.
You and Blitz are practically living in the same room, and he won't let you up for air long enough for girl talk,” Ainsley rambles.
“Let’s not forget that he’s taken on the attitude of Mercy and Blender—only grunting and not using words.” Tasia chuckles.
“All I can tell you is that we’ve got some trouble circling us. I can’t say one hundred percent that I know what happened to Nova, only that she’ll no longer be around,” I give them the basics because it’s not right for me to say anything.
“Okay, well, thank you for the cliff notes version of things.” Ainsley rolls her eyes and goes to sit on the bed.
“I wouldn't suggest that. Actually, why don’t we move this to the great room? I haven’t had time to clean or change the sheets,” I tell them, smirking as I watch their faces run through several emotions all at once.
“I swear to God that Rusher isn’t going to make it out of here without knocking up some girl. All anyone does is have sex,” Tasia throws her hands up.
“What the fuck are you talking about? You and Raider barely got his office door closed last night.” Ainsley pushes Tasia out the door.
I slide my shoes on and follow them out into the great room.
Looking around, I take in the scene before me.
Satchel and Twitch are playing pool, and a couple of Club Bunnies are hanging on three guys I've never seen before. They’re all holding beers, causing me to growl.
That catches Twitch's attention, who smirks before turning to the bar and pointing at the blond man in the group.
“He did it,” Twitch calls like a little brother tattling. “He went behind the bar and got drinks for everyone.”
Ainsley and Tasia laugh as they head for the bar, sitting at the furthest seats from the newcomers. I follow them and go behind the bar to clean up the mess that was left behind by who knows who. The Club Bunnies' fake laughs and sugary sweet voices make my skin crawl.
“Hey Charlie, can we get another round of drinks?” Ivy’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
Ignoring her, I fix Ainsley and Tasia their favorite drinks before going over to the new guys.
“Hi, gentlemen, what can I get y’all to drink?” I ask.
“Can we get another round of what we already have?” the stockier of the three asks.
“You see, if you hadn’t been behind my bar without permission, then I might know what your first round was,” I deadpan.
The blond throws his hands up in surrender. “You’re right. I sincerely apologize for my bad behavior. Why don’t I make it up to you by taking you to dinner?”
Twitch and Satchel both start laughing at the pool table.
“Please say yes, Charlie Girl. Please, I really want to see how they can hold up against a pissed-off brother,” Satchel calls.
The blond looks back and forth between us, wide-eyed. “Are you taken?”
“She likes to think that she is special, just like the two at the end of the bar who spend all their time with our Enforcer and Prez,” Ivy sneers, looking down at Tasia and Ainsley.
Satchel coughs, “Ivy, you might—”
“Satchel, mind your fucking business,” Ivy singsongs from being tucked under the redhead's arm.
“Oh, this is going to be fun to watch,” Twitch chuckles.
“Right, well I’m fucking bored with this conversation. So, why don’t you tell me what your drink order is, and I’ll move back to my girls at the end of the bar,” I state sharply.
They give me their order and I make it, then do just as I said I was going to.
“So, what do you want to know? I answered your questions about the club and the people. What else do you wanna know?” Leaning my elbows on the bar, I place my chin in my hands.
“Woman, if you make us drag it out of you about what is happening with you and Blitz, the next time we have a girl's night we’re going to get you so drunk you’ll do whatever we want you to.” Ainsley crosses her arms over her chest, trying to glare at me.
“All I can tell you is I love that man and, from what he’s said and done, I believe he feels the same,” I tell her, smiling widely.
“Yes,” Ainsley pumps her fist. “That means you’re never leaving us.”
“Not a chance in the world,” I stand and go back to finish cleaning up my bar when an idea strikes me.
“Hey ladies, you know how Ivy keeps going on about us not counting as Ol’ Ladies because we don’t have a patch? What if we got our own patches?” I whisper.
“I’ll check what the rules are for property patches and then let's fucking do it.” Tasia smiles.
“I want to keep it between us as much as possible and surprise our men with it,” I tell her, smiling. I turn away and relax because right now, in this moment, I’m happy and content.
