Lakelyn Chapter 7
I almost hated to admit it, but I was having a good time.
Watching the guys horse around and talk smack to each other made me laugh.
They were dirty-mouthed and uncouth, but a big, crazy family overall.
I’d never pictured a biker club being that way.
Anytime you heard of one in the news or in movies, you heard how cold-blooded and dangerous they were. They’d kill you as soon as look at you.
While I didn’t doubt that Tyrant and his men could and would kill, I wasn’t sure how much provocation it would take. As the evening wore on, they drank more, leading them to flirt more with me, but no one got handsy or too inappropriate. I’d heard worse in a regular bar filled with businessmen.
It was getting late, and the food needed to be put away.
I got up to help the women while the men cleared the trash and stuff.
We used paper plates, cups, and disposable silverware, so there weren’t a ton of dishes to do.
I was at the sink, washing items too large to fit in the dishwasher.
Alice was next to me. She dried the items and put them away since I had no idea where they went.
“Thank you for helping,” she said to me, almost shyly.
“It’s my pleasure. I had no idea anyone was cooking, or I would’ve helped you. Tyrant didn’t tell me. I feel guilty. I was sitting at his house doing nothing while the rest of you were working.”
“It’s our job to do it, among the obvious. It’s the same for Knife and Drax. For certain, Tyrant had you more than busy.”
“Doing what? Watching television until I wanted to scream? I would’ve loved to cook or bake.”
She stopped drying and gave me an astonished look.
“What?” I asked.
“Y-you and Pres, aren’t…” she let it die away.
“Aren’t what?”
“You know… having sex?” she whispered.
I dropped a pan, splashing water and suds on the floor. Grabbing another dishtowel, I dropped into a crouch to wipe it up, and as I did, I shook my head. “No, we’re not having sex,” I softly hissed. I didn’t need the others to hear us.
“I didn’t mean to embarrass you. I just assumed you were.”
“Why would you think that?”
“For one, he’s moved you into his house. No one goes there. Two, he acts differently with you. And three, he didn’t come to the clubhouse last night. He’s always here on Friday nights.”
I stood up and went back to washing. I sneaked a glance at the others huddled together on the opposite side of the kitchen, whispering.
“He didn’t come last night, probably because he thought I’d sneak out if he did. I don’t know what you mean by him acting differently with me. Lastly, surely, you and the others have been to his house. I mean, when you have sex.”
“No, Tyrant only allows us to clean it occasionally. He does his laundry. As for when he wants sex, it’s always here at the clubhouse. He’s protective of you. He watches you closely. I assumed it meant the two of you were involved.”
“No,” I said firmly.
She left it there. We continued to work through the rest of the dishes.
As we did, I thought about what she said regarding Tyrant.
As much as he made me want to punch him occasionally, I couldn’t deny that something about him drew me to him.
I should have been terrified and wanted nothing to do with him, but the opposite was true.
I found myself wanting to get to know him.
Her talk of having sex with him at the clubhouse made me want to swear.
The thought of any of them in his bed rubbed me wrong.
What was happening to me? Had I lost my mind?
Tyrant wasn’t anyone to me. He was a man and one I shouldn’t trust. I needed to stop fantasizing about him.
He and I would never be anything. I should find a way to convince him to let River and me leave.
We needed to move on. Staying in Nebraska was too risky.
The increase in the men’s voices and cheering made me turn toward the doorway. We’d finished the last pan, and I rinsed out the sink while Alice dried the pan.
“What is that?”
“The other women have arrived. We’d better get out there. Some of them can be grabby bitches,” she said.
I was curious to see what these other women looked like. I figured they’d be dressed like Mera was. She was made up to be the sluttiest of the four.
“Go,” I urged her ahead of me.
She took off after smiling. As I was coming up to the doorway, I saw the sneer Mera directed at me before she went out to the main area, which they called the common room.
Whatever. I wasn’t looking to be her friend.
Entering it, I saw over a dozen women in the room, including the original four.
I looked for my brother. Not seeing him, I went over to Cobra.
“Where is River?”
“He went to hang out with Drax and Knife at my place. They’ll make sure he’s good. Pres told me you didn’t want him exposed to what was to come, so I sent him off while you were in the kitchen. I told him he’d see you in the morning.”
“Are you going to make fun of me for shielding him?” I asked.
“Nope. He’s a good kid, and he has plenty of time to learn about this, though I don’t believe there’s much he has to learn. He’s smart.”
“He is, and you’re right.”
“Are you staying, or do I need to grab one of the prospects and get them to stay outside my place? Or you could hang with them, and your brother,” Tyrant asked from behind me. I swung around to face him.
“You’re not getting rid of me that easily, Tyrant. What’s the matter? Afraid I’ll see you in a compromising position or have something to blackmail you with later?” I joked. It just came out of my mouth.
“I’m not worried. Let’s get this party started!” Tyrant shouted. There were cheers, and then the music was cranked up.
For the next half hour, I watched the whole group drink more. The women danced and did their best to entice the men. I had a couple of drinks, but not enough to be drunk. I was sitting with Tyrant. A few women from town had approached him, but he waved them off before they got close.
“So, what do you think of this group of degenerates?” he asked.
“I won’t deny it. I’m still trying to figure you guys out.
However, if you think I believe you’re a degenerate due to the life you live, I’m not that na?ve.
Some men wear suits worth thousands of dollars, live in fancy houses, and drive expensive cars, yet they can be far worse.
They’re the monsters you truly should fear.
They hide in plain sight. Your leather vests don’t automatically make you animals. ”
“They’re called cuts or our colors, not vests. If you’re gonna hang with outlaw bikers, you need to get the terminology right. And you’re right about those kinds of men. Who have you met that’s like that? Is that who you’re hiding from?” he slipped in there casually.
I’d gotten comfortable and forgot to guard my tongue. I went rigid. I was about to deny it, but Mera’s approach stopped me. She marched over to us, wearing a determined look. Tyrant raised his hand and waved her off. She ignored him and kept coming until she stood in front of him.
“We’re talking. Leave us,” he ordered.
“What’s the deal here, Tyrant?” she asked after casting her eyes sideways at me.
“Deal? What do you mean?” he asked.
“You take her and her brother in. You’ve got her living with you.
She’s with you most of the time. No one can tell us when they’re leaving.
Now, you stick to the corner with her. Everyone who has tried to get with you tonight has been turned away.
You said she wasn’t to be another slut. If that’s the case, you shouldn’t say no to this,” she said a second before she dropped to her knees in front of him. It placed her between his legs.
Her one hand rested on his knee while the other reached for his zipper. My response was immediate and automatic. I leaned over and grabbed her hand before it touched his zipper. I squeezed it hard enough to get her attention and to hurt.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing, bitch?” she shrieked in outrage.
“What does it look like? I’m keeping you from touching a man who hasn’t invited you to touch him unless I’m wrong. Do you want her, Tyrant?” I asked him. He studied me for a few moments, then shook his head.
“No, I don’t want her.”
“You fucking bitch! You come in here acting like you’re better than us.
You stay in his house while the rest of us work.
You sashay in here in that dress, acting like you’re something special, but you’re not.
He might be fucking you at the moment, but he’ll soon get tired of you and be back to us.
And when he does, I’ll remind him why he asks for me the most. I know how he loves his cock sucked and how he prefers to fuck. ”
Her words hurt for some stupid reason, but I refused to let it show. “Maybe he’s tired of the way you suck and fuck,” I snipped back.
Mera let out a frustrated shriek. That was the only word for it, and then she was lunging toward me.
I heard Tyrant bark at her to stop. I raised my leg, planted my foot on her chest, and pushed hard.
She tumbled back on her ass. I let go of her hand before she took me with her.
Not staying in a vulnerable position, I stood and waited for her next move. Mera swore and then came to her feet.
“I’ll beat that face of yours in,” she snarled.
Tyrant got between us, but he wasn’t the only one who intervened.
Howler, Brutus, and Cobra were surrounding her.
Howler snagged her arms and brought them behind her back.
That move only infuriated her more. She was struggling like mad to get away while she screamed vile names at me.
“Whore! Bitch! Fucking cunt! You need to leave!”
“ENOUGH!” Tyrant bellowed.
The room quieted down, and we were the focus of all eyes.
I was slightly embarrassed that my automatic response to her attempt to touch Tyrant led to this display.
However, I didn’t need him to protect me.
I did what I did and would take whatever Mera threw at me.
Tyrant’s fury was evident in his tone. I fought not to shy away.
He had a hold of my arm, even though he stood in front of me, to prevent Mera from hitting me. His grip wasn’t overly tight.
Mera stopped struggling hard, but her dislike was apparent whenever she looked at me. “Tyrant, I’m sorry, but she doesn’t belong here. Make her and her brother leave. Let’s get back to normal,” she pleaded.
I wanted to leave, so why did I feel let down at the prospect of him telling me to get lost because of this? It was true. We were causing extra work and inconvenience, and their regular routines were messed up. I tugged on my arm, causing Tyrant to glance at me.
“Let go. I’m clearly in the way here. I’ll go back to the house. I’ll go hang out with River,” I told him. My enjoyment of the evening fled.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he said softly to me, and then he was back to gazing at Mera. He scanned the room.
“I’m the president of this club. My rule, along with that of my fellow officers, is gospel here.
While we consider what our other brothers want, directing this club ultimately rests with us, and then with me.
At no time does a cumslut tell us what to do, or who we can and can’t have here.
You need to get used to the fact that Lakelyn and her brother are here and will be here for a while.
Why they are isn’t your fucking concern.
If you don’t like it, you know where the door is.
And if one of us tells you no or to go away, we mean it. You’d do well to remember that, Mera.”
Tyrant was busy as he talked, surveying the common room.
He didn’t see the craftiness that flashed up on Mera’s face, but it was swiftly replaced with a beseeching one.
She was a devious bitch. I felt that to my bones.
She would manipulate and do anything she could to get her way.
And I’d made her my enemy just for existing and stopping her from touching Tyrant.
Why did I keep landing myself in situations?
Tears streamed down her cheeks by the time he was back to her. “I’m sorry, Tyrant. You’re right. It is your decision. I don’t want to leave. I love it here. I’ll behave. Please, don’t make me leave. I miss spending time with you, and it upsets me. It won’t happen again.”
I had to prevent myself from rolling my eyes at her insincerity. The men seemed to be buying it. They were probably blinded by her tits falling out of her top and most of her ass doing the same thing from her shorts.
“It better not, or you’re through,” Tyrant threatened.
Howler and Brutus let go of Mera. She stood there a few moments, then nodded before turning away. She didn’t leave but went to the room’s far side. The others slowly dispersed. The music was turned back up. I tried to free my arm again.
“Stop it. We’re going back and sitting down. You’re not letting her chase you off,” he growled as he led me back to where we had been.
I waited until we were seated before I responded to his remark.
“I wasn’t letting her run me off, but she does have a point.
We’re disrupting your routine and causing your people to work more.
There’s no reason for it. River and I should leave.
It’ll take a while to work our way south. We need to get started.”
“No.”
“What do you mean, no? Tyrant, you can’t keep us here forever. We’ve done nothing wrong,” I objected.
“It means no. And I didn’t say you did anything wrong.”
“Then why won’t you let us leave?”
“Because whatever or whoever you’re running from isn’t going to disappear. They’ll eventually catch up to you. I want to know the truth.”
“So it’s all idle curiosity,” I said.
“No, it’s called instinct. My gut tells me that I need to know. You’re both in danger, and I have a part to play.”
I was left speechless. I wasn’t sure what his or his club’s part was in our mess. But I didn’t see how he or his club had any part to play in fixing my disarrayed life.
