Epilogue
C helsey’s heart was so full as she glanced around the ballroom where her family and friends were eating, talking, and laughing. The beautiful wedding reception, that doubled as a going away party, had been a surprise from her sisters, as well as Egypt and India. Chelsey couldn’t stop smiling as joy swirled inside of her.
Since she and Parker had enough excitement in their life to last a lifetime, neither of them had wanted a wedding. They’d flown to Vegas last weekend and eloped, and those seven days away, basking in each other’s love, had been just what they needed. Time to rest and relax as they mentally prepared for their move to Miami.
Four months ago, after the kidnapping and Wolf’s death, she feared they’d never get any peace. That they’d never be able to bounce back. It had been emotionally draining going through debriefings, interviews, and reliving that horrible time in their life. But they survived, and Parker got the closure he’d needed.
They had also heard from Luis recently, who had settled and was doing well in Spain with his family. Parker had shared the news about the Kingz being disbanded, and how Elder, along with most of their crew, were behind bars.
By the time the Feds were done with their investigation, tons of drugs, millions in cash, and Wolf’s assets had been seized. Though the syndicate had been dissolved, there was always a possibility that they could reorganize, but they’d never be what they once were.
Chelsey looked up to see Parker heading in her direction, and butterflies fluttered in her stomach. Sometimes it was hard to believe she was married. That she had fallen in love with an amazing man who made her feel cherished and protected. Parker was more than she thought she’d ever have in a mate, and she felt like the luckiest woman alive.
“What are you doing over here by yourself? Is everything okay?” he asked, and pulled her into his strong arms, then kissed her lips.
“Everything is wonderful.” She melted against his hard body. “What about you? Are you enjoying yourself?”
“I am. At first, it all felt a bit overwhelming, because this is goodbye in a sense. I’m leaving behind some of my friends, people who have become my family. Part of me is still processing that, even though I know Mason and the others are only a phone call away, I won’t see them every day. It’s hard, you know?”
Chelsey smiled up at him. “Yeah, I know. I’m going to miss them too. The good thing is, once we get settled, I have a feeling we’re going to have more visitors than we can handle. Egypt already created a spreadsheet with dates of who’s planning to use the guesthouse and when.”
Parker grinned. “Maybe we shouldn’t have showed them pictures of the property. I still can’t believe Rock included that house in the signing bonus. It’s way more than I expected and more than what we need.”
“I agree, but I’m going to love every minute of decorating it.” Chelsey tightened her arms around her husband’s waist and stared into his handsome face. “Are you ready for this new chapter in our lives?”
He lowered his head and nibbled on her top lip before kissing her sweetly. When the kiss ended, he said, “Sweetheart, as long as this new chapter includes you, I’m ready for anything it entails.”
