Chapter 31

Felix

Felix still couldn’t believe that Brett had let him not only tie him up but fuck him.

It was, without a doubt, the best night of his existence.

He much preferred it when Brett reamed him, but occasionally a little switch was fine.

They’d done other stuff since, but it was so hot he couldn’t help but reminisce.

Resting his chin on his hand, he stared out of the window, remembering how it felt to be wrapped in Brett’s heat, dragging moans from them both as he pounded into him, sweat dripping from him onto Brett’s body, and the sight of Brett’s cock shooting come onto his stomach as Felix climaxed at the same time.

“Earth to Felix,” Jason said, nudging his elbow off the table, and Felix barely caught himself before his chin hit it.

“What?”

“You’ve had a fucking glow on your face for weeks, Romeo,” Kai said. “Can you come back down to earth for us mere mortals for a bit?”

“I can try, but you know, it’s so tiring.” Felix grinned.

“We’re talking about your birthday party,” Jason said, directing him back to the conversation he wanted out of in the first place. “It’s in five days!”

Felix sighed. “Just let Nick sort it, but do it for Saturday, not Sunday. I just want friends, family and to be able to drink lots. Plus, plenty of security. I’ll be inviting my housemates.”

Jason sighed. “That means it’ll be at the castle then.”

“What’s wrong with that?” Kai asked.

“Nothing, but it’s not very exciting, is it?”

“I’m sure you can discuss ‘exciting’ options with Nick to make it more palatable for you,” Felix bit off. He stood. “I’m heading out.”

“Felix!” Jason said, grabbing his arm. “I’m sorry. I’m not really an asshole. I’m—”

“Pregnant?” Felix asked with faux seriousness.

Jason smacked his stomach. “No! I’m missing Darius.”

Felix stared down at him. “He’s not gone that much.”

“But I liked having our evenings together,” he pouted.

“So why not make your evenings at some other time of the day?” Kai said. “When is he here with you?”

Jason frowned. “It varies, but usually for dinner.”

“So, make dinner your evening and then you won’t miss out,” Kai declared.

“That might work,” Jason said.

“Good. So now you can stop being an asshole and we can finish lunch.” Kai looked at Felix. “Do you really have to go?”

Felix glanced at his watch, happy to have it back again. “Actually, yes. Sorry.”

They waved him away, and he headed back to Sec HQ.

He wasn’t bothered about his party. He didn’t really want to celebrate, but everyone else wanted him to, so he’d let them talk him into it.

They were always up for a celebration, no matter the cause.

All Felix wanted to do was get drunk. He’d not been able to join Austin for their drinking session since his friend initially asked, so it would be nice to do it when he knew he would be cared for afterwards, but first he had a confession to make.

FELIX: I’m just heading home. It’s finally time to tell them what’s going on.

brETT: Okay. See you soon, and let me know if you need me.

Felix smiled at Brett’s standard response to anything that might mean Felix could possibly get upset. He was a big, cuddly bear as far as Felix was concerned. Not that he’d show it for anyone but him.

He drove home—not that he’d spent much time there over the past few weeks, preferring to spend his time with Brett—and parked on the drive, noticing Remi and Austin’s cars were also there. No time like the present to get his head bitten off.

Entering, he didn’t find anyone in the communal areas, so he headed upstairs to their rooms, asking them to join him for a coffee.

They both frowned at him but agreed, and Felix went downstairs again and filled the kettle.

While it was boiling, he got the cups ready, trying to ignore the pounding of his heart.

“Sounds serious,” Remi said. “Everything okay?”

Felix nodded while he doctored everyone’s drinks and handed them to them.

He settled into a seat across from them.

“I just wanted to talk to you about something that I maybe should’ve told you right from the beginning.

” He swallowed hard, hoping he wasn’t about to lose these people as friends. “I’m your landlord.”

Remi gaped at him, eyes wide. “No shit?” He exhaled. “I never saw that coming.”

Austin smirked. “I did.” He met Felix’s gaze. “I already knew.”

Felix frowned. “How? I buried my name deep.”

“I have a lot of money. It talks when I need to ensure my safety. I’ve known since the day I agreed to move in.”

It was Felix’s turn to gape. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“Because it didn’t matter. I don’t know why you didn’t want us to know, but as far as I’m concerned, you’re unlikely to throw us out, and you have first-class security systems.” Austin shrugged. “It seemed like a win-win situation.”

“Why didn’t you tell us?” Remi asked, leaning back in his chair.

“I thought you’d treat me differently if you knew. You wouldn’t relax in my company or want to hang out with me. I don’t know. I was probably overthinking things.” Felix cleared his throat. “Does it change things?”

They both shook their heads, and Remi said, “You’re still the awesome guy who puts up with our shit no matter what we throw at you.”

Felix grinned. “The noise is a bit much, though.”

Remi winced. “Sorry, I’ll tone it down.”

“See,” Felix said, pointing at him. “This is exactly what I meant. You’re changing how you do things because I’m your landlord.”

Remi glared at him. “No. I’m changing things because you said it was too much. Not that the landlord said it was too much. If you had mentioned it before, I would’ve done the same. Same as if Austin had mentioned it. Or Angelique. It’s nothing to do with your new title. Just basic human decency.”

“Oh.” Felix grimaced. “Sorry.”

“Now, do you have time to celebrate with us?” Remi said.

“Unfortunately not, but I am inviting you to my birthday party. It’s on Saturday, though my birthday is actually Sunday, and it’ll be at the castle, so safe for all to come.”

Remi grinned. “Nice. I’ll get to schmooze with all kinds of royalty.”

Felix brushed his chin and narrowed his eyes. “Maybe I need to put a muzzle on you.”

Remi looked around as if to find something to throw at him, but there wasn’t anything. Instead, he pointed a finger. “Not nice.”

Felix grinned. “I’ll see you guys later. I haven’t told Angelique yet, but I will when she gets back. I’d prefer to do it in person rather than over the phone.”

“Okay. We won’t say anything until you tell us otherwise.” Austin shrugged. “It’s a shame she’ll miss the party.”

****

Angelique didn’t miss the party. She flew home specially to celebrate with them, and Felix was floored by the move.

He classed them as friends but had thought they would think of him more as an acquaintance, more so after the news he’d sprung on them.

But Angelique said the same thing. She wasn’t concerned about his being their landlord because he was a good guy.

“I’m so glad to be here,” Angelique gushed, looking around as if she wasn’t an A-lister herself. She was getting as many people gawking at her as she gawked at. “Happy birthday, Felix.”

“Thanks.”

Felix was throwing back drinks as if they were water. He wanted to get rip-roaringly drunk just because he could and rarely ever did. After warning Brett of his intention, his boyfriend had nodded and agreed it was a good idea.

“How does it feel to be thirty-nine?” Christian asked as he slipped past.

Felix grinned. “I don’t know. I’ll tell you tomorrow.”

Christian laughed and continued on his way.

Jason and Kai were there, along with their other halves, plus all the guards, the royals, and everyone else who mattered.

Except for his parents. He’d asked them to come, but they didn’t want to intrude, so instead his mum was cooking his favourite meal for dinner the next day.

He and Brett would be going over once Felix’s hangover wasn’t as bad as it would be first thing.

He spotted his boyfriend talking to Dominic and Randall, and he staggered over to him. “Hey,” he murmured, sliding his arm around his waist.

Brett automatically wrapped his arms around him, and Felix nuzzled into his neck. “Hey, to you. You okay?”

“Yep. Just wanted to see you.”

Brett pressed his lips to Felix’s head and then continued his conversation while Felix floated away into his mind.

He lost himself in the memories of being with his friends, the fun times with his colleagues, and the love he felt for Brett.

He was so lucky. Even with everything that happened to him, he was lucky to have so many people around him who cared about him, and he cared about.

“Are you still with me, sweetheart?” Brett’s warm voice filtered into his brain, and he hummed in contentment. Brett’s chuckle vibrated through his chest, and Felix tightened his hold. “I think it might be time to either stick to water or head home.”

Felix blinked open his eyes with effort, feeling extremely sleepy. “No, I don’t want to go yet. Everyone is here.”

Brett smiled down at him. “Okay, we can stay, but let’s get some water into your stomach.”

“All right.”

Felix let himself be led across the room and drink when Brett handed him an open bottle of water. It helped a little, and the fuzziness receded a bit. He still held onto his man, though.

“Are you having fun?” Brett asked.

“Yes, lots! Everyone is so nice. I’m glad I’m friends with them.” He looked around the room. They seemed to be on a ship in a rocky ocean. Felix snorted.

Brett brushed the back of his fingers against Felix’s cheek, and Felix hummed in delight. “You are so drunk,” Brett said.

“Yep, but I don’t care.”

Brett got jostled away from him, and Felix’s eyes opened to see Jason, Kai and Austin jockeying into his place.

“Felix! You’ve gotta see this,” Kai said, dragging Felix to the other side of the room.

“What am I seeing?” Felix asked, and a rush ran to his head as they pulled and pushed him.
