Chapter 27

He phoned Elowen at six and for a moment he thought she wasn’t going to pick up, but on the fourth ring, she answered.

“Hey, how are you doing?”

Her voice washed over him like magic and everything felt better. “I’m good. I got some sleep and worked out. How has your day gone?”

“Good. This set of guests is going to be demanding. I can already tell.”

“How so?”

“They couldn’t find extra towels.”

“What? You had detailed instructions. I can’t believe they couldn’t find them.”

“Yes, well, they needed help with the corkscrew. While I was there, they asked me to check on the lights upstairs. Apparently they didn’t understand that turning on the lights downstairs wouldn’t turn on the lights upstairs, too.”

“Wow. I’m shocked. How are they so dumb?”

“I don’t know. But I’m sitting outside with a glass of wine and I’m good now that I’m talking to you.”

The smile was automatic on his lips. “You know how to make me feel good.”

Her laughter teased him, leaving him feeling needy. If she was here, he would take her to their bedroom, or maybe just take her here in the den.

“I think you’re the one with that knowledge. I feel terrific when I’m talking to you.”

Before they devolved into phone sex, he wanted to tell her about Thario. “So my buddy, Thario, is driving up tomorrow to talk to the police.”

“Really, why?”

“He found out two women were missing from that area. He wants information on their cases, but of course because the cases aren’t closed, there is no information out there.”

“Oh, okay. Does he think it is connected to me?”

“He doesn’t know, but he doesn’t want to take any chances. And if he can help close a cold case, it’s good for everyone.”

“Yeah. I didn’t know about the disappearances. I should look that up.”

“Or not. I don’t want it scaring you.”

Her chuckle warmed him. “I’m setting the alarm and making sure everything is locked at night. The front door locking on its own when I leave is great. I don’t have to worry about accidentally leaving it open. I’m being good and responsible.”

“Thank you. I’m glad you’re locking up. That’s a big part of keeping strangers out of your place.” He let go a heavy sigh. “I want you to be comfortable living there on your own until I can get up there.”

Elowen appreciated his concern. Maybe she was making things up in her head.

The weird feelings could have just been her body feeling weird.

But there was the bowl being washed and the cameras.

The idea of someone coming into her house and washing her dishes was funny in one aspect, but absolutely disturbing when she thought about it.

“I’m good. It’s nice out here, and I’m not going to allow some jerk to scare me off. It was probably just someone who didn’t think through what they were doing. Maybe a person on drugs.”

“Ouch, that’s even more dangerous.”

“Okay, maybe not someone on drugs. But the alarm will keep them out.”

“I think so, too.”

She took another sip of wine and leaned her head back against the chair. “I’m counting down the days until I can come see you.”

“I am, too. Just thinking of you here in my arms at night, I can’t wait.”

A shiver snaked through her. “Talking about it is making me hot.”

He cleared his throat, and she could imagine him adjusting his dick as it got hard. Her nipples tightened and she longed to have his lips on her.

“I’m hot just thinking of it.”

The moan that rose up from her chest almost made her embarrassed, but he knew how she felt about him. They’d spent hours in each other’s arms, touching, tasting, and sending each other past the edge and into oblivion. She’d found fulfillment like she’d never experienced before.

Laughter bubbled up at the thoughts she was having. “I’ve never had phone sex. Are we about to have phone sex?”

“Maybe. Where are you?”

“Outside.”

“You should go inside and take off your clothes.”

She stood and stretched. “I’m standing.”

“That’s a start. I’m standing, too, and now my shirt is off.”

“Nice. I like your chest. I like the dark line of fuzz that runs down the center of your body. I like trailing my hands down your chest to your belly and lower.” She had her wine glass in hand and was on her way to her porch.

Normally she would sit out here longer, but she needed to get off and she wasn’t doing that out here, not with guests at the main cabin, and certainly not with everything that had happened recently.

“Well, my pants are off now. Are you inside?”

“I just shut the door and now it’s locked. I’m closing the blinds.”

His moan drifted over the line and she reached down, cupping her pussy. The way he’d sucked and licked her came to mind, pushing her desire higher.

“Remember how I kissed my way down your body then sucked your clit into my mouth and didn’t let up?”

Her legs started to shake, so she sat down on the couch and closed her eyes. “Yes.” She sounded breathless and needy.

“Are your fingers on your clit?”

“Yes.”

“Good. My hand is wrapped around my cock and I’m so hard for you.”

The thought of his cock sliding into her was enough to make her even hotter. She was going to come just talking to him.

“I like licking your cock.”

He grunted. “Fuck, I’m going to come way too soon.”

“I’m almost there. I just need…”

“Tell me what you need.”

“You,” she gasped as her body tightened and she came. She moaned and gasped as the orgasm worked through her.

“Yes!” Griz shouted, and it sounded like he dropped the phone.

She put the phone on speaker and closed her eyes as she lay back against the couch cushions. “That was good. I know it will be great once we’re together.”

“Yeah, you in my arms will feel much better.”

“It does, but talking to you is great, too.”

“Yeah.” He let go a heavy sigh. “Only a few more months and then we’ll be together. I know this part will be difficult, but I think we’ll be okay.”

She sighed, feeling good about their future. “We will be. I’ve been without you for years, I can wait a few more months for us to be together all the time.”

“I was so dumb to have lost touch with you.”

A snort escaped her lips. “We both lost touch. It’s okay. We’ve found each other.”

“I’m glad we did.”

“I should let you go. We both need to do things tonight so we can get into bed.”

“Thank you for everything. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.”

Elowen ended the call but didn’t move. She’d removed her clothes, which felt a little odd but also freeing to have him on the phone while she sat naked where they’d made love multiple times when he’d been here.

He knew what she liked and how to leave her feeling satisfied. Never before had she ever felt so good, and with Griz, everything felt good.

She thought about putting on clothes but decided against it. She wasn’t causing any harm walking around naked. All of her blinds were closed, so no one outside could see her.

If she didn’t have guests, she would have poured another glass of wine, but too many things could go wrong.

Instead, she grabbed a sandwich and poured some water into a glass.

She was standing at the kitchen counter, thinking about putting on her clothes when something shattered the glass on the door in the kitchen.

A primal scream unleashed from her throat and she stumbled back, knocking into the countertop and almost falling. It took a moment for her to recover, and by that time someone was in her kitchen.

Her gun was across the room so she scrambled to grab a knife. But he was on her, pulling her close. She fought back, but he was too strong and pinned her against the wall, trapping both of her hands in his.

“Just how I want you. Already ready for me. Did you know I was coming?”

She cocked her head to the side, confusion swimming in her thoughts. “Huh?”

“Time to go.”

When she resisted, he reared back and punched her, making her see stars. Resisting this man would be impossible if he hit her again, but she couldn’t just go with him, so she tried to pull away. The pain from his next punch took her to her knees and then everything went dark.
