Chapter 49
FORTY-NINE
THISTLE
3 He’d come back 3
My Ace.
My storm.
My God Alpha.
He was here for me!
And bound to me like this, he was mine—I knew it at last.
All mine.
He could never hurt me again—and he would protect me from everything .
Tears of relief flooded my face, and amongst the bullets and screams, I took a breath. The weight of the Alpha above me was lesser as he looked at the threat that had just entered.
I knew what I needed to do.
I reached out, brave enough, now, to fumble shivering fingers through the pieces of Bunny that were scattered at my side.
And there it was, the slip of weighted metal that still carried the faintest trace of dark cream cardamom. A switch blade stolen from Glade’s abandoned vanity.
Despite my shivering, I flipped it open just as the Alpha above me tried to push from the floor. His eyes were locked on the room where gunshots rang, and chaos reigned.
He wouldn’t have my Alphas.
I lashed out, a thousand buried instincts uncoiled as I caught him across the neck. He reeled, letting out a gurgle, eyes wide as his gaze slammed back down to me.
Oh— oops!
Not as clean or deep as I was hoping for. I tried the blade again, but he seized it, blood splattering down on top of me. He looked wild, ready to kill.
Shit—!
But then that lightning storm slammed in, washing over me like a tide. Broken chains clinked, and feral ice-blue eyes flashed above.
Bunny!
It happened so fast I barely caught it.
Ace reached around the Alpha’s face, fingers curling into his mouth from each side.
The Alpha let out a choked scream to match my shriek of delight, but he was too late. His wail cut off as, with a shuddering snarl, Ace tore his jaw clean from his face in a mesmerising cascade of red.
