After the talk #3

You won’t get any assistance from me. I think to myself as a small smile crosses my face. I wonder if the guys would be proud of me for not backing down?

“AGAIN! No knees or ears, as you can see.” Pea shimmies excitedly on the spot. I know she said she loves her guns. But I didn’t think she’d be this manic when holding one.

“Head, shoulders” BANG another bullet goes off and Mas body almost falls off the chair, the razors dig deep keeping her from falling, her leg is like a pineapple with all the openings.

She screams and Pea screams with her "NOBODY CARES FOR THE BITCH IN A CHAIR!” Another duster punch shuts Ma up swiftly.

As Pea corrects her clothes she looks at me, “please maestro continue.” I chuckle.

This woman calls herself my best friend and fuck me I don’t think I’d change that status.

“Head ______ and toes ___ and toes, eyes..” Another shot follows, forcing Ma's jaw to drop completely one side as the cheek and jawline on the right side is torn thanks to the bullet, Pea gets blood splatter over her as she had pressed the gun above Ma's eyebrow and shot downwards.

“Ohhh, bestie, did you see that! So much mess! But don’t worry she will live. Every shot so far has been a through and through. Carry on, thank you.”

“Head,______ and toes ___ and toes, and ___ and ___ and mouth and nose…

“Okay I’m bored now, the song is no fun when half the body parts are missing.” With a flurry of her gun she fires the remaining 3 bullets into her chest and stamps her foot onto Mas. The shotgun goes off with a sickening echo leaving a pulp covered neck stem and brain matter across the ceiling.

“Ha, so she did have something up there,” she grins as she grabs and unties the shotgun, “When I was in the army, I was always taught to double tap a target.” She fires another couple of shells into the left and right breasts leaving nothing but a stump mutilated and disfigured.

Peas laugh is like that of a maniac as she skips back over to me. “Ready to go?” She questions and goes to slide her arm through mine. I pull back, a hurt expression crosses her face.

“Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to hug the fuck out of you right now. But…” I lift my arms to where some open wounds are.

“I get it. So I’ll meet you back at the warehouse. I’d love to meet this daughter of yours.” I pass her back her helmet and without looking back, we make our way out the farmhouse.

“What happens next?” I ask when we get back to Bull.

“We go back to the warehouse where I can check you and the boys over properly.” Bull says matter of factly, there’s no arguing with him. “Then Julian is coming here with the big boss to decide what to do with her.” He nods his head towards the house.

“Big boss?” Pea sounds shocked.

“Yeah, apparently Dante called him for help.”

“Oh.”

“Who?” I ask.

“Nobody for you to worry about.” Bull sighs. “Ready to go?” He opens the door for me and I climb in. I wonder who this big boss is?

I flop back against the seat, let out a heavy exhale and watch the twins through the rearview mirror.

He has wrapped them up in some spare clothes he keeps in his car - same as the others, it must be a Masked Bandits thing - Bull has also cleaned them up and bandaged up their wounds as best as he can with what little he had.

The one with the scar looks at me with interest, but doesn’t say a word.

“She’s safe.” Bull assures him. “I promise.” the young boy just nods and slowly drifts off to sleep, his head resting against his brothers.

“What are your plans for them? Taking them to the foster agency?” I ask quietly, so as not to wake them.

“No.” Bull shakes his head. “I don’t trust that place. I’ll take them home with me. They seem to be afraid of women. He was fine with me, even told me their names and asked about my mask.”

“You will?” My voice comes out squeaky and surprised.

“Why does that shock you?” He chuckles. “I have always wanted to be a father, I just never had the chance to settle down.” He sighs.

“You will be a wonderful father.” I assure him. “I think you’ll be just what those two need.” I point behind me to the twins. “But surely the foster agency will be looking for them once the police investigate this.”

“Don’t worry about that darlin’.” He smiles. “Like I said, Julians already sorting things.”

“Of course he is.” I mumble, wishing I could be with them both. With both of my guys. I wish they were holding me now, telling me everything will be okay and I’ll be safe from now on.

I wish I didn’t do that stupid new years deal.

Although it was the right thing to do for my child, for Gustin.

I regret saying it. The engine of Pea’s bike brings me from my thoughts.

“Did the boys tell you anything about what they went through?” I ask, changing the subject away from one of the people I may lose in a few months.

“No, and if I’m honest I won’t ask them to tell me. I’ll wait to see if they open up to me themselves.”

“That’s a good idea.” I nod weakly, adrenaline now leaving my body and exhaustion hitting.

“Go to sleep, Grace.” Bull turns the key to start the truck. “I’ll wake you when we get to the warehouse.”
