Chapter 19 #2

Her body was an open book. It practically screamed at him what it needed, and it was so much easier to understand than any conversation he’d ever had.

God, he wanted to be inside her. Now.

“Not yet,” Anna whispered against his lips as if reading his mind. “Not yet.” She pressed both hands against his chest, pushing him back onto the mattress. She kissed his shoulder, licked his flat nipples, and peeled his pants and briefs off his legs before moving her mouth lower.

He groaned and looked down at her. He loved that she looked up at him from under half-closed eyelids. That she didn’t hold back. That she could make him forget everything with just a look.

“I’m in control today, Lucas,” she said, smiling, running her hands up his thighs.

What was she talking about? She was always in control. He was helpless, at her mercy. Every time. How could she not realize that? How…

But his brain stopped functioning when she took him into her mouth. She licked the tip, once, twice, before opening her lips over it and slowly sliding it down his shaft. Her hand wrapped around the base of his cock, mimicking the movements of her mouth.

And he was lost.

She sucked on him, swallowing to take him even deeper as he thrust into her wet mouth. He buried his hands in her curls while sweet ecstasy clouded his mind. It was too much. He would…

“No. I don’t want to come like this,” he gasped, pulling her head up.

“No?” She licked her lips and smiled up at him. “Then what do you want?”

“Take off your pants and get on all fours.”

“No. Lucas, I’m in control…”

“On all fours, hands on the headboard.”

Anna’s pupils swallowed her irises. He saw how his words turned her on. He knew her. He knew that in bed, she loved it when he told her what to do, no matter how much she insisted on being in control.

Her breasts rose and fell with her heavy breathing as she stepped out of her pants and panties and did as she was told.

And when he knelt behind her and thrust into her in a single, fluid motion, he felt like she belonged to him. For now and for eternity. Although there was a sweet edge to it: He might claim her body, but she had taken possession of everything else about him.

Hot and wet, Anna contracted around him as he took her with long, deep thrusts.

Sweat broke out on his forehead with each wave of pleasure that swept through his body.

He pressed his hands into her hips, pulling her back onto his cock while simultaneously driving forward into her.

He drank in every sweet sound that escaped her lips, wanted to commit it to memory, for those bad days.

He ran his fingers between their bodies, stroking the spot where he slid into her center before pressing his thumb against her clit.

Anna flinched. Gasped. And he knew she was about to come…

but he wanted to see her when she whispered his name.

When the heat surged in her eyes. So, he wrapped his arm around her waist and flipped her around.

He was inside her again before she could pull his head toward her to kiss him.

He cupped her face with his hands and sank into her. Once, twice.

“Open your eyes,” he whispered roughly…at the exact moment she came.

And the pleasure that rolled across her face as she contracted firmly around him and the affection that washed through her gaze was too much for him.

He kissed her deeply and followed. Pressed his thumb against her middle to prolong her orgasm until they were both just an exhausted mass on the mattress.

Anna wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. She pulled him closer as if she didn’t want to let him go.

“Mhm,” she remarked against his ear. “My other friendships are completely different.”

He laughed. Kissed her neck, her cheek. “I hope so, for your sake!”

She stroked his cheek with her thumb. “We’re…sweaty,” she remarked breathlessly. The smile on her face was so wide he couldn’t have contained it with his hands.

He smiled back. “Mhm. You’re right. I should take a shower.”

“Oh, me too,” she said seriously. “Save water and time?”

“Sure.”

They weren’t saving water or time. But who cared?

When they dressed shortly before nine, their hair was still damp and their fingertips still wrinkled from the water.

But Lucas was incredibly relaxed. He felt like he’d finally…

let go. Finally built a door to a part he’d painstakingly locked away for weeks.

They’d kept their affair a secret for six months before taking that unfortunate break.

They’d make it another six months until they’d had enough of each other and could truly become friends, if that was what Anna wanted.

There didn’t have to be any drama. There was…

…There was a knock on the door.

Fuck.

Anna just laughed. “I know who that is.”

“You can’t know.”

“Oh, yes. Go on, open it.” Her grin was so wide, a toddler could have gotten lost in it. “I’m hiding in here.”

Confused, he padded barefoot to the hotel door, looked back to make sure Anna wasn’t around the corner of the bed, and then opened the door.

“Fox,” he said sharply. Naturally.

His best friend with the worst timing in hockey narrowed his eyes at him. “Hey. Everything okay?”

“Yup.”

“You’ve been ignoring my texts.”

“No. I haven’t read them.” He’d been busy.

“Hmm. You were suddenly…gone yesterday afternoon.”

“I’m trying to get a second career as a magician and have been practicing my vanishing act,” he replied dryly.

Fox snorted and glanced over his shoulder. “Since we’re alone, Temple and West are looking for Anna. Do you happen to know where she is?”

“I have no idea.”

“Hey, Austin!” Anna called out.

Lucas smiled.

Fox sighed and rubbed his face. “You can’t be fucking serious. What are you two doing?”

Lucas thought about the question for a few seconds, but in the end, the answer was simple: “We gave up,” he said quietly.

Fox raised his eyebrows in surprise. “Gave up?”

He nodded.

Fox looked at his face, scanning every inch of it. Finally, he murmured, “Good.”

“Good?” Lucas echoed, confused.

“Yes. Good.” The next moment, he turned and left.
