Chapter 49
LOGAN
I stare at the text messages for the hundredth time, my knee bouncing.
In the distance, there’s a droning sound. An overhead announcement that doesn’t apply to me.
Other text messages appear at the top of my phone screen. I ignore them all.
My parents.
My siblings.
My agent.
Everyone waking up to the news that Logan Granger has taken a personal leave of absence from his team.
Ignore, ignore, ignore.
“Now boarding—”
I jump up. That announcement is for me.
Keeping my head down, my baseball hat lowered over my eyes, I head for the first class line. Get on the plane. Wave away the flight attendant. No, I don’t want anything to drink. There’s a dull roar in my ears that booze will only make worse, and I need my wits about me when I land in LA.
My wife is pregnant.
And she’s fucking sorry that it might upset me.
