Chapter 24 #2
I shake my head. It’s not as hot if a woman’s feeding a man.
She breaks off a piece, which is fucking cheating, and places the piece in my mouth.
But her fingers, for some reason, are in my mouth, like she’s never fed a person before.
So when I close my lips, her fingers are in between them.
It couldn’t have happened any other way because the piece would have fallen out of my mouth, and then she would have been really mad.
“Wh–” she starts to say but the sound she makes is breathy.
I grab her wrist so she can’t pull away and suck the crumbs from her fingers.
Fuck, I wish she was sucking on mine instead.
The look in her eye is priceless. She’s frozen, stuck.
I don’t even think she’s breathing. I pull her finger from my mouth and say, “That one is the best so far.”
She pulls her hand back and takes a bite of the confetti cookie. Her eyes roll as she enjoys the cookie. “So good.”
She looks over my shoulder and says, “I’m going to offer them cookies.”
“The chocolate chip is for you.”
She shakes her head. “Matt, you bought me too much.”
“Yeah, right.”
“We can go another time,” she says. “So, I’m going to offer them fresh cookies. Come.”
She grabs the boxes as that echoes in my mind. “Another time?” I question.
She shrugs. “Yeah.”
“Okay,” I say, settling with that idea. I won’t make a fuss about it if she’s already planning a next time.
She sits on the couch and offers the cookies to Christian and Zack. “So, we took a bite from each. So, no pressure. There’s chocolate chip too.”
Zack and Christian break pieces off of the cookies and eat them while playing their video games. I take the opposite side of the couch because there’s no room near Amber.
“Come here often?” Zack jokes.
Amber says, “No, it’s my first time here.”
“Did you guys eat dinner?” Christian says.
Amber says, “Yes, we did. Did you guys eat dinner yet?”
They both shake their heads.
“These cookies are our dinner.” They’re both eating them up. “Matt, did you finish your studying?”
I look at Zack. He’s sitting right next to me. “Almost. I needed a break.”
“Matt,” Amber says. “Want a chocolate chip cookie?”
“Yeah,” I murmur. “I need to know what the hype is all about. Wanna go to my room?”
She shakes her head, passing the cookie to me around the two guys. “I don’t mind being out here.”
Christian says, “Do you want to play?”
Amber shrugs. “Sure.”
Christian stands up. “I need to grab something to eat. Zack?”
He hands me the controller and says, “Yeah, don’t kill us.” He’s pointing at the screen. “We’ll be back soon.”
They’re in the middle of a Fortnite battle, so Amber and I aren’t paying attention to them as they leave the house.
“Do you know how to play?” I ask Amber.
“Just smash these buttons, right?”
“Pretty much.”
I take the center of the couch and eat the rest of my cookie. When I look over at her, she scooted over too. “That cookie’s really good.”
“Want another?” she asks.
“Only if you feed me.”
Her eyes shine as she looks at me. “Nice try.”
I’m just staying alive in the game by building. I think she’s died a few times, and I’m waiting for her. I’m not much of a video game person. I would much rather be studying.
“Matt, I should go home.”
“Okay,” I say, tossing the controller aside. “I’ll take you.”
“And look,” she says. “I have two cookies for tomorrow. Perfect.”
When we walk into the night, the air is cold. Instead of opening her door, I get into the truck. She doesn’t seem bothered as she holds the box of cookies on her lap.
We’re down the street when she says, “Thank you for dinner and the cookies.”
“Thank you for dinner, and you’re welcome for the cookies.”
She gives me half a smile. “You’re not so bad. I think this weekend will be totally fine.”
“Yeah,” I offer. “I’ll make sure you have fun.”
“Where are we staying?”
“The Hilton.”
“Wow, that’s so fancy.”
I shrug. “It should be fun. Pack a swimsuit just in case.”
“It’s probably too cold for the pool.”
“Not for the hot tub,” I say.
“Hot tub…right.” She stares forward. “Are you going to warn your mom that I’m coming?”
I shake my head. “Do you want me to?” I ask.
“Yeah. I don’t want to shock her into a terrible weekend.”
“Okay. I’ll tell her.”
A short five minutes later, I’m pulling into her driveway. “So, I’ll see you at work?”
She shakes her head. “I had to take off because I’m busy at work and have to go to a thing with my boss.”
“Okay,” I say, making a mental note to call off work too. “Both days?”
She nods. “It’s a busy week, so when the weekend comes, I’ll need a mini vacation.”
“Do you want me to open the door for you?” I ask.
She glances around and says, “Okay.”
I get out of the truck, my heart leaping into my stomach. I open the passenger door for her. When she steps out with the box of cookies, I smile. I pull her in for a hug and say, “I’ll pick you up this weekend.”
She hugs me back, resting her head on my chest. “What time?”
“Saturday, first thing in the morning. Be ready by 8.”
“I will,” she says, releasing me. “Good night, Matt.”
I glance down to get a good look at her before I leave. “Good night.”
