Chapter 9

CHAPTER NINE

MAREN

O ne week later

Two lines.

Definitely two lines. Blue. The other test was pink. Same result.

Oh, God.

I’d never been regular, even when my doctor put me on birth control. And it wasn’t unusual that I would skip one or even two months. But three?

And hurling at the oddest times, then feeling completely normal really should’ve clued me in. But, I lied to myself. Just like I lied about the middle of the night, when I’d touch myself while reliving every damn moment of my ‘wedding night’ with Garrett.

I was turning into a bad country music song.

Yep, I didn’t even know my last name.

Last week when my new job ran a background check after offering me the position I’d dreamed about since graduation, the guy from HR said my last name came up different but he wanted to make sure I had decided to use my maiden name.

Instead of my married one.

And now, not only did I not know my last name, because I’d been so horrified that I’d stammered my way through the rest of the conversation without asking, but I was pregnant.

With my one night stand, take my virginity, marry me in Vegas husband.

Fucking dares.
