Chapter 6 #2
“I did rest.” He snuggled closer and pressed his nose into the side of Brian’s neck. “I sleep really well with you, mate.”
Brian circled his arms around him, one hand caressing his back while the other wove through his hair. “What time is it?”
“Based on the light seeping in from behind the curtains, I’d say it’s around eight.” He kissed the underside of Brian’s chin. “See? It’s not too early.”
“That would be true if we went to sleep at a reasonable hour, but no matter how hard I try to get us into bed early, you manage to keep us up for hours.”
“I can’t help myself.” He scooted on top of Brian so they were lying chest-to-chest. “You’re irresistible.”
“So are you.” Warm brown eyes opened and gazed at him. “Good morning, beautiful.”
Heat and joy bloomed through his chest in reaction to the adoring gaze and kind words. “Good morning, mate.” He trailed his fingertips over Brian’s sideburns.
On the bedside table, Brian’s phone lit up with an incoming call. They both glanced over to it.
“Ricky Marx?” Keith said. “Why is he calling so early?” He hoped there wasn’t any trouble in Golden Valley.
“He’s just a friend,” Brian said, picking up the phone. “Don’t worry.” He raised his finger to end the call.
“You should answer it; he may need something.”
“You don’t mind?” He put his hand on Keith’s knee.
“Why would I mind?” Keith furrowed his brow. “What if he needs help? Answer.”
Brian took the call and put it on speaker. “Hello.”
“Hi, Alpha Berger. I’m sorry for calling so early but I need a favor.”
“Are you okay?” he asked as he moved his hand over Keith’s knee, caressing him.
“Yes, but Morgan doesn’t want me to exert myself too much because the baby is due soon.”
“Baby?” Keith mouthed. He hadn’t realized Ricky was pregnant again.
“He’s a Psi,” Brian whispered. “I’ll explain it later.”
“That’s why I’m not coming with him, but I’m calling to ask you to please give him a chance.”
“Coming with him?” Brian’s hand stilled.
“Oh yeah, I forgot to say that part. Morgan will be at your house soon. What happened before was my fault, not his. I don’t want more fighting over me. Please.”
“You fought with Morgan Peters?” Keith asked, surprised. “Why?” Not that he hadn’t done the same thing dozens of times, but he’d had his reasons, however unbalanced and irrational he now realized they’d been.
“It’s a long story,” Brian said.
“Keith?” Ricky said from the phone. “Is that you?”
“Hi, Ricky. You’re pregnant again, huh? That’s fast.”
“Oh, yeah, Morgan wants lots of kids and… Forget about that. Listen, Keith—”
The doorbell sounded at the same time a baby cried in Ricky’s background.
“Sounds like Alex needs you and that’s probably Peters now,” Brian said. “We need to go, but don’t worry, I won’t hurt him.” He ended the call and set the phone down.
“Hurt him.” Keith chuckled and shook his head as he climbed out of bed and walked into the bathroom. “I’ll get your clothes while you get ready.” He stepped over to the closet. “We shouldn’t keep Morgan waiting.”
“Peters showed up unannounced. He can handle waiting a few minutes,” Brian grumbled as he followed him into the bathroom.
“Do you have a problem with Morgan?”
Brian made a disgruntled sound around the toothbrush he had just put in his mouth and toothpaste foamed around his lips. It was adorable.
“He’s a wonderful person,” Keith told him. He set two piles of clothes on the counter and then turned on the faucet in the second sink and put a washcloth under the water.
Brian spit the toothpaste into his sink. “You know Morgan Peters?”
“Very well.” He took the damp cloth to Brian and rubbed it over his belly and chest.
“What are you doing?”
“You’re flaky with our come. That can’t be comfortable.”
Brian’s cheeks heated and he leaned forward. The doorbell rang again.
Keith gave him a quick kiss and then picked up his briefs and jeans. “Let’s get you dressed.” He handed him his underwear first.
“Why aren’t you getting ready?”
“I need to take a quick shower,” he explained, gesturing toward his torso.
The previous night, he had lain on his back and jerked Brian off while he had crouched above him, his fingers buried in Keith’s hole.
Both of their releases were spread over his skin.
“A little bit smeared on you when you kissed me afterward, but I need more than a washcloth to get clean.”
Brian’s nostrils flared and his gaze heated once again.
“Focus.” Keith laughed and gave him his jeans.
“I want you again,” Brian said as he stepped into them.
“Glad to hear it.” Keith kissed his cheek and pressed his shirt into his hands. “I’ll be fast.”
“Okay.” He glanced at the clothes Keith had set out for himself. “We can get you your own things.”
He had been sharing Brian’s wardrobe because he had nothing of his own, they were the same size, and he enjoyed draping himself in the faint scent of his mate.
“You keep saying that and I keep telling you that I’d rather wear yours.” He turned on the shower and stepped under the cold spray, not wanting to lose time. “Unless you mind sharing.”
“I like sharing with you. I’m only offering because I don’t want you to ever go without.”
“I know.” His heart softened once again. He opened the door and smiled at Brian. “Thank you. Go on. I’ll be right behind you.”
