Chapter 27 #2

It seemed like he was walking, with the way the noise in the background kept changing. “Just hold on a second, Maira. I’m going somewhere quiet.” After some shuffling sounds, Dominic said, “Okay, I’m in the office of the bar’s owner. Now, tell me everything that went down today.”

There wasn’t much to tell except that the mission went pretty smoothly.

He kept giving encouraging hmms as I relayed the entire night to him.

“By the way, tomorrow, you will just go to work like every other day. I’ll be there with you as your personal assistant.

I’m pretty sure the state attorney might visit you. ”

“Let that bastard come,” he growled, the sound sending a shiver up my spine.

“Easy there, Dom. The goal is not to have him suspect you. You’re not to antagonize him.”

He sighed, and I could just imagine the man getting upset and pouty. “Fine. What about your alibi?”

“We’ve got plenty of fabricated footage of me at the bar. I've also got plenty of friends and patrons to confirm my presence in the bar, if you know what I mean.”

“Perfect. And when do Sophie and I get to come down to the safe house and deal with those motherfuckers?”

I chewed my lip, thinking over the next steps.

I’d have to sit with the girls to brainstorm.

It could be too risky to keep these three men kidnapped for an extended period.

The longer they’re alive, the greater the chances of the cops or private detectives finding them.

But I was fairly certain that starting tomorrow, Dominic and Sophie would have eyes on them, depending on whether the state attorney would involve cops or hire goons.

“Let’s see who the state attorney brings to your office. We’ll make a decision then.”

“Alright. I’ll trust you on this. Are you all going to stay at the safe house till then?”

“Yep. Pretty much. Again, I might not come to your office if I get tailed tomorrow.”

“Makes sense. You’ll come to my place, then?”

A smile came over my face. “You’re just trying to get me back in your bed. ”

He chuckled, the soft, breathy sound sending shivers down my spine. “Tell me you don’t want to get back in my bed.”

“Go home, Dominic. And go to sleep. I’ll most likely meet you at your office in the morning. Do not give access to your place to anybody other than you and Sophie.”

“Yes, ma’am. And you be careful.”

“Yes, sir.”

A growl came over the line, and I quickly ended the call before he made me blush any further.

I turned around to find four sets of eyes staring at me with their jaws hanging open and their eyes shining with glee.

“Not a word,” I muttered, picking up my hot chocolate.

“Fuck that,” Sloane said, jumping beside me and wrapping herself around me like an octopus. “Look at you smile, Sami,” she shrieked in my ear, swinging me side to side. “I’ve never seen you so cute and soft. I wanna cuddle you.”

Before I could get myself out of her clutch, Tara jumped on my other side and wrapped around me. “He makes you blush, and I love him for you.”

Lena and Naomi, thankfully, stayed put on the floor, sipping their hot chocolates while looking at us with wide smiles on their faces. Lena lay down on the carpet, placing her head on Naomi’s lap, and asked, “So are you guys officially together? Is Dominic Park your boyfriend?”

With the two ladies clinging to me like octopuses, I shrugged. “I don’t know. You might get a very different answer if you ask him. But I feel guilty being with him.”

“Why?” Naomi had a look of pure disbelief on her face. “That man worships the ground you walk on. He’d literally lay the world at your feet.”

I looked down at my lap, not able to meet anybody’s eyes. “We literally have three men kidnapped in our basement. One day, we’re gonna get caught. What if somebody harmed Dominic to exact revenge on me? What if associating with me puts his life in danger? How can I be so selfish? ”

Lena got back to a sitting position in a snap.

“Samaira. Enough with the protective bullshit. There’s a chance we won’t get caught.

You know why? Because we’re targeting the people who deserve to be taken off the face of this earth.

We’re targeting the vilest humans who get away from being held accountable because they’ve got money and connections.

Your boyfriend has given us fifty fucking million dollars.

That money will keep us out of a lot more scrutiny.

Add in the internal connections we’ve built everywhere.

There is a reason we haven’t been caught in the past thirteen years.

I understand you wanting to protect your family.

They’re helpless. But Dominic is a fucking billionaire.

He’s got enough money and power not only to protect himself but also to get you out of sticky situations if they ever arise. ”

I felt Sloane nodding her head against my arm. “You need to let others support you and protect you. You need to let him love you. Don’t you want your own person to go home to and cuddle up to after killing and torturing vile monsters? Someone who makes you believe in the good of humanity?”

Tara squeezed me on my other side, nodding along with Sloane. “Someone who brings lightness to our dark world? I know we have each other. I get all the love I need from the four of you. But, Sami, you can never have enough love when we’re surrounded by so much hatred.”

Naomi nodded and walked closer on her knees to the bed that the three of us sat on.

“Just because we fight for justice and truth doesn’t mean we’re not allowed to live this life that we’ve been gifted.

Lena gave you a new life, a new purpose.

You did that for me. Wouldn’t you want me to live my best life?

Grab the little piece of love and joy with both of your hands. ”

Lena came closer and finished our little huddle, placing her hand on my thigh.

“You’re ruthless. You’re my warrior. You’re strength.

You’re the motherfucking rage of all women.

And we’re all so proud of who you are. But we want you to be a little more greedy.

A little more selfish. A little more happy.

We love seeing our Crimson Tiger blush and giggle.

We love seeing love in your eyes. I need you to cherish and treasure this love.

What good are we as Wildcats if we live in fear and with constraints?

Be fucking wild, Sami. We’re all with you. ”

Tears streamed down my face as all my girls bundled me up in their arms. Why was it so easy for me to rage and torture and kill people but so fucking terrifying to give my heart to a man?

A man who was soft and powerful, a man who I was protecting but who made me feel cared for, a man who wasn’t afraid of laying out all his feelings on the table and refused to give up on me.

“What if he breaks my heart?” I whispered, the question haunting me.

Tara squeezed me tight into her arms, laying her cheek on my shoulder. “Then we break him.”

“Tara,” I chided, but I wore the biggest smile.

“So how big is his dick?” Sloane asked, a devious smile on her face.

I shook her off my arm. “Go to sleep. I have to leave too early tomorrow.”

“C’mon, did he fuck you hard or was he gentle?”

Once again, all four sets of eyes looked at me as if they deserved the answer to the questions. I stared back, but I was only one girl against four besties. I raised my hands in defeat and sighed. “Fine. He fucked me just right. And he ate me out.”

All four groaned in appreciation. “Twice,” I added, getting squeals and nudges.

“I knew he was a giver.” Sloane had literal heart eyes.

Of all five of us, she was the only one who’d never experienced the love of parents.

She’d grown up being passed around in the foster system.

She had no idea who her parents were or what her heritage was.

She’d grown up fighting for survival. She was only seventeen when Lena and I found her. We were literally her only family.

I pulled her back into my arms and lay down on the bed, cuddling her. “He is. You’ll find a giver too someday.”

“We all will,” she said, her voice wistful.

Someone turned the lights off as my eyes shut down, my mind finally a little more at peace and ready to claim Dominic Park.
