Chapter 34

DOMINIC

A loud beeping noise hammered in my skull, disturbing my peaceful dream.

Samaira was in my bed, wearing a beautiful red dress, her hair spread over the pillow, her neck arched as she laughed at something.

But every time she tried to say something, the stupid fucking beeping noise came out of her mouth.

It was getting infuriating. Her lips moved, but her mouth kept beeping. “What’s wrong with you, Maira?”

“Me? You’re the one in the hospital bed, you idiot.” My ears rang as her voice came from somewhere close, and my eyes snapped open.

Pain exploded in my skull, and my eyes automatically closed at the bright white light that stabbed me in the head. It turned darker behind my closed eyes, and Samaira’s voice touched my ears again. “Better now?”

Slowly, I opened my eyes again, and my heart jumped in my chest as my eyes fell on Maira.

She had a scowl on her face as she looked at me, but her fingers were running softly through my hair.

And suddenly, the events leading up to me lying here bombarded my mind.

The beeping around me intensified, and I all but tried to get up to shut the fucking thing up myself.

But a strong hand held me to my bed, her eyes glaring daggers at me. “Calm the fuck down, Dominic.”

My fingers grasped her arm, holding me down. “You okay, baby?”

She slowly rubbed my chest, and her eyes softened. Her lips slowly curled in a smile. “You’re the one lying on the hospital bed, Dom. I’m not the one you should be worrying about.”

“Don’t tell me what to worry about. I’ll worry about you if I want to.”

She rolled her eyes as if I were being unreasonable. “I’m fine. You were the one who was shot.”

Speaking of which, my leg throbbed a little, but I wasn’t in too much pain. “I feel fine.”

She gave me a soft smile. “You’re on a lot of meds.”

I tried to remember what had happened, but many pieces were still missing from my mind. I didn’t remember how we got out. The last thing I remembered was Maira coming to my rescue, a lot of shooting, and…I looked at Samaira. “Did you slap me at some point?”

She bit her lip and bent closer to me. My lips went dry with the need to kiss her. “You kept going to sleep on me.”

“So you slapped me?” I clutched her arm and pulled her closer.

Suddenly, her eyes filled with tears, and she bit her lip for an entirely different reason. “I couldn’t lose you.”

My heart squeezed tight beneath my chest, agony far more vicious than a bullet wound spreading through my veins at the sight of tears in her eyes. I pulled her into my arms, causing her to climb onto the bed with me. “Nothing can take me away from you, baby.”

She sniffled into my chest as her body shook with tears. A gnawing ache pierced my chest at every tear she shed for me. I squeezed her tight into my arms and pressed a kiss to her hair. “Please, don’t cry, Maira. I can’t take it. It’s far more painful than that stupid bullet.”

She wiped her cheeks on my chest and glared at me, her eyelashes wet with tears.

She looked fucking adorable and like a little kitten.

I couldn’t help but smile at her. Her thumb grazed my lips, and I placed a soft kiss on it before sucking it into my mouth.

Her eyes darkened, and she pushed her thumb deeper, pulling a groan out of my mouth and making my cock stir against her hips.

She immediately moved away, glaring at me. “You just got shot.”

“In the leg,” I countered. “My cock works just fine. And it needs you.”

“Not until you’re healed.”

“I am healed.”

“Let’s ask the doctors, shall we?”

Right then, the door to the room slammed open and in rushed my mother, my dad, and Sophie.

Samaira tried to get off the bed and away from my arms, but I kept my hold tight on her. She slowly kept stirring around, but that just made me tighten my hold on her. If she thought she was getting away from my arms anytime soon, she was sadly mistaken.

My mom hugged me and smiled in Samaira’s direction. And then launched into a heavy dose of rebuke as I kept nodding along at her words. “You will be keeping a team of bodyguards around you at all times, just like your father does. Are we clear?”

I scoffed and looked at Maira for support but found her staring me down just like my mother. My eyes widened. “Are you serious? You’re with my mother on this?”

She put a finger under her chin. “Umm…let me think about it. Do I want the love of my life under constant protection, or do I want him susceptible to any harm? Hmm…tough choice.”

Mom chuckled, and so did my dad. “Unbelievable.”

She looked at my mom and said, “I’ll be hiring a team for him myself.”

“Good girl.” Mom gave her a soft smile, the one she usually reserved for Sophie, and it just warmed my heart.

Maira deserved to have a mom. Not just mine.

But seeing how soft she got, how much she looked up to my mom, I knew she missed hers.

I knew she’d never forgive herself if she never talked to her family.

She deserved to have them in her life. They deserved to meet the strong, wonderful woman she’d become.

Mom kept scolding me till Dad brought in the doctor. Samaira, once again, tried to get out of my arms. I glared at her to stay put. The doctor simply gave us an amused smile and examined the machines as we talked about my level of pain.

“Everything looks good, Mr. Park. We would like to keep you here for two more days to monitor any infection. But everything seems fine as of now. I’d recommend that you rest a lot.

Thankfully, the bullet didn’t hit the bone.

It will take some time for the wound to completely heal.

We can schedule physical therapy to help you regain the full strength of your leg. ”

“Thank you, Doctor.”

I turned to my parents and asked for coffee. At the doctor’s nod, they left us alone.

Once they were gone, I turned to the doctor. “Do I need to wait to have sex?”

Samaira pinched me at my waist, making me jump. I turned to her with a pout. “I’m injured, baby.”

I turned to the doctor and looked at him with pleading eyes. He gave me a small smile. “As long as you don’t put any strain on your injured leg, you should be fine. ”

“Thank you, Doctor.”

As soon as the doctor left the room, I quickly pulled Samaira on top of me, making her shriek with a laugh. “Dominic, put me down. You’re gonna get hurt.”

“I’m not putting any strain on my leg.”

She simply shook her head and nuzzled into my throat, taking a deep inhale right at the junction between my neck and shoulder. “I can’t live without you, Dominic.”

I tightened my arms around her and ran my hand through her soft, wavy curls.

“I’m not going anywhere, baby. I promise.

I have a long, long life to live with you.

Need to spend all my days loving you. Need to wake up to your adorable little snores.

Need to feed you a healthy breakfast so you can kick proper ass.

Need to fuck you. Deep and slow. Hard and fast. Need to show you the world.

Need to spar with you and beat you at it. ”

That got me a snort and a wet chuckle. She turned in my arms and pressed her lips to mine.

“I’ve never loved someone as much as I love you, Dominic.

I never thought I’d allow someone close enough to me to become my weakness.

My liability. But loving you made me realize that you’re my strength.

You’re the light in my dark world. You’re my reason to come home.

You’re the life I dreamed about but never allowed myself to pursue.

But now that you’re here, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do to keep you.

No enemy I wouldn’t destroy. No obstacle I wouldn’t obliterate.

You’re mine. And before you even think about getting shot again or dying on me, you better know that I’ll fucking follow you to the ends of the earth. You’re never getting rid of me.”
