Chapter 2
TWO
Oro
I’m acting like a fucking fool.
Of course I’m still on the bottom of the totem pole. I’m the last patch member. By the time the guys find the next prospect, shit will change for me and they will be the ones getting the shit jobs.
I don’t know why I was so in my feelings for in the first place. It’s not like they were bullying me or hazing me or some shit like that.
I know what is expected of me. There was no way that AZ would have let anyone walk away from that mess in the middle of the clubhouse. He’s so damn anal, he’s probably still thinking about different ways he can deep clean the wood to make sure that all traces of the throw up is gone.
Now that I’ve got my head on straight, I pop out of my room only to see Spin, the DJ that typically works our parties getting his equipment together.
“Y Vado?” I call up to him. He looks around as if the president of the club will somehow appear out of thin air. When he shrugs his shoulders I make my way to the kitchen area to see if any of the guys are in there.
Usually when the parties are over there are a few hang arounds either passed out or lounging around.
Thank fully, I only see one in the main area.
He’s talking to Digger who is surprisingly alone.
I was sure that he’d be balls deep in one of the club bunnies tonight but it seems he had just as much luck as I did.
I grab a bottle of water out of the kitchen before making my way over to where Digger and the hangaround is sitting.
“It’s bullshit, they need to bring more televised sports over here. I’m tired of having to fly off island everytime I want to go see something.” Digger pulls a bottle of Corona to his lips and takes a swig.
“What bullshit are you talking about?” My gut twists a little as I insert myself into the conversation. As a prospect, it wasn’t unheard of for brothers to tell me to fuck off if they didn’t want to talk to me.
“The NFL, NBA, all those big sporting events. We don’t get shit here on the island. Nothing but tourists and a few concerts.” Digger drops right into his tirade. I’m relieved to see there’s at least some form of upgraded respect coming from him.
“You know the ones on the mainland don’t want to spend any extra chavo on us little folks over here. They’ve got more important things to think about.” I chuckle and get ready to sit down next to them.
Digger puts his hand up to stop me from sitting down. I’m ready to be rejected.
“Hablando de cosas mas importantes…Don’t you have to do your rounds at Seda. Something is definetly in the air.” He looks at me expectantly.
“Que mierda… I almost fucking forgot.” I grumble and turn on my heel. This is a new responsibility for me.
Seda is the attached massage palor or otherwise knows as a the bunny palace.
Our guests and some clients are able to visit with the club bunnies over there and have thier needs tended to.
Usually, Lobo would be the one to go over there and check on things but the minute I was upgraded from prospect to full member he handed off that responsibility to me.
I’m thinking it has something to do with his new woman, Angela and the fact that he wants to be spending as much time with her. I don’t mind it though. At least I know they trust me enough to look in on then.
Besides the security and transport portion of our business here on the island, our biggest money maker is Seda. Those women can pull in quite a bit of cash.
I’m not sure what Digger meant about there being something in the air but as I walk out into the courtyard right outside the clubhouse, I can feel it.
It’s not thick enough to feel like it’s a storm coming but at the same time the air feels heavy like something is about to happen.
I put a little pep in my step as I make my way across the street toward Seda.
The large building is freshly painted and the neon pink light spilling from the sign baths the front windows and the door in a nearly other wordly glow.
It’s supposed to make the client feel like they are walking into heaven. At least that’s what the girls say.
All the windows are covered from the inside with thick drapes so no one on the outside can see what is going on but the minute I step in front of the door I know I’m about to walk into some bullshit.
I do a quick glance around the street and the parking lot but I don’t see any parked cars. If there are any clients in there they must be local.
Taking a deep breath, I push the door open but have to jump back the second I try to take a step in.
“Jesus Santisimo!” I curse as a vase comes hurling through the air and crashes against the wall right by the door.
“Hija de puta! I rip your fucking face off!” Coca yells.
“What in the shit is this.” I rush forward just as Coca lunges for Lisette.
Four other girls stand around Lisette, all of them screaming and cursing at Coca while Lisette covers her face and cries.
“Coca, para!” I yell and grab hold of her.
She’s sweating and grinding her teeth together as she tries to push through me.
Coca has been here longer than any of the other club bunnies.
She’s the one they all listen to or at least that’s always been the case.
It’s obvious something intense is happening tonight.
Coca doesn’t get mad. Annoyed, yes. But never violent.
“She’s a disrespectful bitch. I don’t have to deal with this shit.”
“Mentirosa!” Lisette, yells. I turn my head and I swear I can see what looks like a smirk on Lisette’s face. Everyone else is focused on the tears she’s crying though.
“Liar? Me? Estas loca!” Coca yells again and tries to push through me once more.
I need to seperate them before something else comes flying through the air. Wrapping my arms around Coca’s small midsection, I pick her up and walk her into the next room so we can have some privacy.
Both of us are out of breath when I slam the door shut behind us.
“You need to move the fuck out of my way Oro. I won’t stand for this shit! I won’t!” Coca steps to the side trying to get by me but I plant myself in front of the door.
“You’re not getting back in there.”
“You’re not going to stop me. If I have to go through you, I will.”
I clench my jaw and stare down at her. If I were any other brother she wouldn’t dare go against me like this. Guess it’s time for me to remind her that I’m no longer a prospect. I’m a patched member and she’s out of fucking line.
“Cuidase, I know shit is hot right now but don’t forget your place.”
Coca narrows her eyes at me but she doesn’t talk back, instead she takes breath, folds her arms over her chest and nods once.
She knows the deal. She’s angry right now but I know I can count on her to be reasonable.
After we both take a second I lower my voice, “Now what the hell is going on in here? Did a client do something?”
“No, we don’t have any clients. We haven’t had any clients for a few days.” Coca tilts her head waiting for me to catch the hint she’s throwing.
No clients for a few days is strange, usually Seda is bumping.
“Why?”
“No se. At least not for sure. I asked Lisette about it. She was the only one getting any clients and I wanted to make sure she hadn’t said anything or did anything to scare anyone off.
The second I approached her on it she flipped out on me.
Like she’s hiding something. I have no proof but I’m starting to think that she’s ciphering clients.
She’s telling them to meet her somewhere else so she doesn’t have to split the take with the club. ”
“What? Why the hell would she do that? We’re the ones keeping her safe, making sure they don’t fuck with her.” I shake my head not wanting to believe what Coca is telling me.
As a club we make sure that all the club bunnies that work for us at Seda are properly taken care of. They have the best of everything including protection and security. I just don’t understand why Lisette would risk being put out.
“She doesn’t need the protection, I don’t think she ever did. I think she found out how much we were pulling in and wanted a piece of the pie. The bitch is a fucking cancer. She’s got all of the girls thinking that we are using them.” Coca shakes her head and looks away from me.
“Shit.” I drag a hand down my face. This is not what I wanted to come into tonight. I’ve got a few options but most if not all of them include me going to the guys with my fucking tail tucked between my legs to let them know that Seda is getting out of control and I need help. I don’t want that.
“Yeah, you can say that again. I knew when we took her on that something was off with her. Her spirit is dark.” Coca continues.
Her spirituality is important to her. As a practicing santera, she goes off vibes and auras a lot. My mother was like that. I don’t know much about it but I do know more times than not, the vibes are correct.
“Look, let me talk to her. Make sure everything is straight upstairs. Stay away from the group of them for the night.” I stare down at her for a second waiting for her to agree.
She sucks her teeth, rolls her eyes and cocks her hip out.
It’s obvious Coca still wants a piece of Lisette but I can’t allow it.
“Fine, play peacekeeper. No me importa.” She mumbles.
Leaving her in the room, I make my way back to the reception area where Lisette and the four other girls are still standing around talking.
“It’s a damn shame. I don’t know why she acts like she’s head bitch.” Marisa, one of the newer recruits says as she rubs a hand over the still seemingly rattled Lisette’s shoulder.
“She’s a bully. Just a big bully.” One of the other girls adds.
“Lisette, you want to come talk to me about what’s going on?” I speak up, making my presence known.
“What’s there to talk about?” Lisette shrugs and wipes the crocodile tears from her face. I might have doubted it before but with just one look in her eyes it’s clear that this is all a show.
“There’s obviously something to talk about. You ladies shouldn’t be in here fighting.” I’m doing my best to deescelate the situation. I’m usually pretty good at it.
“No, we shouldn’t, but there’s always going to be fighting when you have someone like that…”
I put a hand up to stop her, “Watch yourself. Coca has been here for years. She knows what she’s doing.”
“Asi, esa problema, she’s been here for so long she thinks she’s a fucking queen or something. She’s a tyrant. It’s her way or no way.” Lisette narrows her eyes at me, “Maybe it’s time she hung up her heels.”
The group of them stare daggers at me. Suddenly this is starting to feel like a stand off.
“I’m not going to tell her she needs to quit. You’re out of your mind if you think that’s going to happen.” I scoff ready to end this conversation.
“Well then you’re going to have a different problem. I don’t think any of us are going to keep working with someone like that. There are other places we can go, sabes?”
I fist my hands at my sides. I’m not usually the type to be disrespectful to women but this one is pushing all the buttons.
“If that’s what you have to do, go for it.
You know no one here is a hostage. If you want to leave, go.
Just leave all our shit here…” Just as Lisette and her crew turn to get there things I add, “And our clients too. If I find out you’re trying pilfer from our people you’re going to have a bigger issue than someone bullying you. ”
Lisette swallows hard but she doesn’t reply.
I don’t need to be around for this. So much for thinking my day was about to get better. It feels like I’m going from one shit job to the next.
I walk out of Seda back toward the clubhouse. I just need some peace. If things go how I think with Lisette and her little clique I’m guessing peace isn’t something I’m going to get much more of.
