CHAPTER THIRTY
-:- TwoCents -:-
Monday morning and knowing that Augustus will never rear his head again is more than a little relief for Pais. She spent a while last night in my arms crying softly, which I think was due more to the shock of seeing Vitale cut the fucker”s throat and hearing her first husband Maurice had been murdered.
Looking down at Pais, who is still wrapped in my arms sleeping, I close my eyes and know the next few days are going to be hard. But we’ll get through them together and with the support of all the club brothers.
Pais stirs, and looks up at me, giving me a weak smile. “Morning.”
Kissing her forehead, I reply gently, “Good morning, babe.” That is not one of my usual endearments, as I hate the false sound of some of them. The brothers over the years have thrown out babe, chic, sugar and kitten. I’ll stick with calling Pais, Wifey. “You feeling okay this morning?”
“Yeah, I want to go to my house, pick up some things, and I want to speak with a realtor to get my house up for sale.”
“You want to sell it? I thought you might lease it out.” I hadn’t considered selling the house, but if that’s what she wants I’m good with it.
“No, we’ll sell it and put the money away. It is paid for so we can replace some of the money our cabin will cost to build.”
“If that’s what you want to do, but the cabin is paid for already, and it’s your money from the sale, so put it in your bank account, or open a savings account.” I kiss her forehead again before pulling myself out of bed after we untangle ourselves. “Let’s go downstairs and have breakfast, then I’ll take you to the house.”
That is exactly what we do. We finished our meal and took the club truck over to Paisley’s house, which is how I’m now watching her taking a floorboard up in the walk-in closet in the bedroom, and pulling out a box. There’s a small document safe under there as well.
“What’s that, Pais?” I ask as I take the box out of her hands.
“What? The box? More evidence.” Placing the floorboard back into place and flipping the piece of carpeting over it before standing up and giving me a grin. “This is going to bring them all down, if your man is brave enough, and knows enough people to do it.”
“Forest has many contacts in the FBI, Pais. He will do everything he can to stop this. What about the safe?”
“Oh, that’s just general paperwork. Home, medical, vehicle insurance. Day-to-day stuff,” Paisley responds.
“Okay, we’ll go to the clubhouse and I’ll give all this to Axel. He is the President and I don’t want to leave him out of anything. He allowed you to bring me to the club, take me as your wife, and he’s protected me, along with everyone else. I owe him my allegiance, and I give it to him freely.”
“Pais, he didn’t need to allow me to make you my wife. I would have left the club to marry you. From the moment you took that hit I just knew you were mine. Nobody on this earth would have stopped me from taking you as mine. I look at you now and I’m so proud of you, so in love with you. I’ll never pass another day in my life without needing you in it.”
Pais looks at me and tears well in her eyes. She throws herself into my arms and, looking up at me, gives a watery smile. “I love you too.”
Slamming my mouth down on hers, I kiss her until she’s struggling to breathe, but I put every ounce of my emotion in that kiss, so she can feel the depth of my love for her.
“I want us to have a family. Not yet mind you, but when the cabin is built, and we’ve had time for each other. Are you up for a family, Pais?”
“Yes, I’d love kids. One of each would be nice.”
“Yeah, but if we get two of the same, we can try again.”
“I suppose we could, and like Star said, we can make sure your swimmers are the best ones. She told Meat she wanted his best ones,” Pais giggles.
“Oh, I’ll give you all the swimmers you want.” Kissing her once more before we lock up, take the box and nothing else as Pais just didn’t seem interested. We head back to the clubhouse.
Walking into Axel’s office I close the door behind me. Pais didn’t want to go through this again so gave me the box and told me to handle it all.
“What’s up?” Axel asks as I place the box on his desk in front of him.
“I’m not sure what is in the box. It was at Paisley’s house. She had it hidden under a floorboard, and wants Forest to have it and to deal with whatever is in it. She told me that what is in the box will bring down this ring if Forest is brave enough to use it.”
Axel eyes the box, looks at me again before ripping open the box. Determination all over his face, he takes out folders, USB drives and photographs. Looking up at me, he clearly is overcome with the images he has in front of him. “Get Specs and tell him to get Forest here ASAP.”
“Okay.” I rush out and do his bidding, and grab Drag and BS who were in BS’ office as I pass, to follow me.
Specs barrels into the office. “Forest can’t make it for half an hour, but he said he’ll be here as fast as he can.”
“Okay. I want you to look at this with us, Specs, because we have names here that you will need to check out. I recognize Hudson Miller and I’m not surprised he is involved in this shady shit,” Axel snaps. My mind is racing because the name rings a bell, but I can’t place it.
When Forest walks into the office he quickly looks through the information strewn across Axel’s desk. He looks up at Specs and asks him to contact Boardman Charnwood. That attracts my attention, and I give Forest a scowl.
“He’s not a bad man TwoCents. He is working to bring down the ring. I’ve found that the Senator was working with the ring to get names and evidence to bring them down, which includes a senator and three judges.” Forest holds my gaze.
“How do you know this?” Axel asks.
“Aaron’s contact came through. I want to make him a deputy if nobody here has a problem with that. He’s resigned from the FBI, and he’s now floating. He’s a good man. He’s at the point where I was, disheartened and disillusioned. I can use him if nobody has an issue with me bringing him into the department.” Forest is looking at me, for my opinion I’m sure.
“I don’t give a fuck. He’s gonna be your responsibility, so do as you like.” I’m walking out of the office when Specs speaks, gaining my attention.
“Boardman Charnwood will be here tomorrow morning. He wanted to visit Paisley, give his condolences, and speak to her about what has been happening.” Specs is looking at me, and I shrug because even if he comes, Pais won’t be alone with him for a minute. I’ll make sure of that.
Axel’s phone rings and we all quieten when he answers. “Yeah, oh yeah, I see. Oh, I will.”
Looking around, Axel gives us his feral grin. “Get Buzz, Wings, Stitch, Knuckles and Colton out front, ready to ride. You, BS, are staying behind with Drag. If anything happens, you take charge of the MC Drag, and BS you step up as VP.”
“Pres, what the fuck’s goin’ on?” Drag asks.
“We have found Irvin, and we are going to get that fucker before Vitale grabs him. This is the bastard who has been sending fuckers after Paisley. Had the Senator taken out too. But he’s the pawn for Hudson Miller, who Boardman is going to take down. Now move it, you have thirty minutes to be out front,” Axel passes all the information on his desk to Forest. “Take that, do with it as needed.”
We all leave the office and I quickly head out to find Pais, and let her know what is happening. Thirty minutes is going to fly past and I don’t have time to waste.
Rushing into our room, I find Pais on the bed with a laptop. “What’s wrong?” She asks. I’m not surprised she can tell by the way I rushed into the room.
“We found Irvin, and we are going out to grab him. You stay at the clubhouse. Do not leave until I get back. BS and Drag are remaining to keep the place safe.” I kiss her before she can say anything and I grab my weapons, strapping on everything I may need. Sig, Glock, Bowie knife. I’ve others, but don’t want to look too damn obvious while en route.
“Come back safely,” Pais nearly whispers, and I give her a huge grin.
“Too right. I’ll be back. We’ve got perfect swimmers to create.” I kiss her again, then rush downstairs because I’m not going to get left behind.
Axel and Buzz are riding in front, Wings and Stitch behind them. I am riding at the side of Knuckles, with Colton covering the rear. The seven of us must look a sight, and our colors are turned each time we enter another MC”s territory. Thankfully, they are decent MCs and would understand our mission. May even join in just for the fun of it, knowing why we are after this fucker.
We ride for four hours, and I have to say my ass is numb and my back is hurting, but not a word of complaint will pass my lips. I grin when I notice Colton rubbing his butt, and I nudge Knuckles, who chuckles at the sight, too.
We are at a gas station, filling our tanks, ready to move again. I look at Axel for what his plans are next.
“We are going to leave our hogs two blocks away, waiting until it’s dark, of course…” giving us a feral grin, “then we are going into the house where this piece of shit is hiding. Take him out, take the assholes with him out, and burn the place to the fuckin’ ground. Fuck Vitale, he can suck our dicks. He took out Augustus, and we are taking out this maggot.”
Colton looks to be the most eager at Axel’s comment, and Knuckles rolls his eyes before giving Colton a stern look, who must take the hint, and settles down.
Buzz, however, is stepping up to Colton and states calmly, “You stay next to me, and we’ll get as much action as we can handle.” Then the fucker winks at him, and Colton grins, showing every tooth in his damn mouth, I’m sure.
“Fuck’s sake,” Axel sighs, but straddles his hog and waits for us all to get ready to roll once more.
We eat at a diner, pass the time until they close, then make our way to a woodland area and hide our bikes. We stay as out of sight as we can through the two blocks, arriving behind the house. We need to watch a while before we make our move.
“Four inside Pres, but I didn’t see that fucker Irvin. Do you still have the photograph of him on your phone?” Buzz asks.
Axel shows Buzz the photograph, and frowns when again Buzz states that Irvin is not inside at the moment. We don’t have to wait long before a rust bucket of a Ford drives up, belches black smoke as the engine is turned off.
“Fuckin’ hell, he’s a knob,” Knuckles mumbles, and we all hold back our chuckles at Star’s favorite word of the moment, which keeps being picked up by all the brothers.
Half an hour later, the place is silent. Thankfully, it’s a detached property, with something like two acres, so it gives us a little privacy with the trees scattered around.
Going into the back of the house, I can’t help but wonder how fuckers can live like this, even if it’s for a short while. The kitchen is scattered with pizza boxes, takeout cartons, and moldy mugs.
Buzz storms into the living room, and I hear a scuffle before I can even get out of the kitchen to get involved. Knuckles, Stitch and Colton are pushing their way through, leaving me and Axel growling with irritation.
Eventually getting through the door after Axel, we both stand looking with disgust on our faces at Buzz, who has two men laying at his feet. One with his throat cut, and one he’s strangled with the tie the fucker was wearing.
Colton has a huge grin on his face and he’s sitting on one fucker, hand over his mouth, and a knife at his jugular. That’s when I realize that one is Irvin.
“I thought we’d keep this one for you, Pres,” Colton smirks, and Axel steps up grinning.
“You’re a good brother,” Axel states as he squats over the fucker.
Now Irvin gives a squeal, and we all know the moment the asshole pisses his pants. Colton jumps away from him, snarling in disgust. “What a pussy. He steals women off the street, sells them, and then pisses his pants when he faces the consequences of that.”
“It’s okay, Colton, he’s gonna get what he deserves right now.” Axel leans forward, slams his elbow into the asshole”s face, which has him scream and jerk away from Axel, or try to. But with the rest of us standing around him, he has no escape.
Irvin dashes my way, thinking he can get past me, but I punch him in the gut and watch him bend over, gagging and gasping.
One by one, we all get our hits in before Axel gets bored, grabs him by the hair, spins him so his back is to Axel’s front, then states clearly, “Tell the Devil I said hi.” Slicing his throat from ear to ear, then throws him to the ground. “Light this place up, and let’s go home.”
We don’t take long before the place is ablaze and we know it’s not going to burn hard because Knuckles had brought something that we’d been given by Crank from Satan’s Guardians MC quite some time ago. It’ll explode any moment so we are getting back to our bikes as fast as we can run. We see the flare from the explosion and I can’t help the laugh that bursts out of my mouth. Followed by my brothers’ laughter, I have to add.
Now, how Axel is going to explain to Vitale his revenge isn’t going to happen I don’t know, and if I’m honest I don’t care, it’s not my job to tell him, anyway.
