Chapter 11

HAVEN

Isneak downstairs to start coffee and breakfast, leaving Joel upstairs fast asleep in bed. I shrugged into a button-down shirt to cook in and play music softly from my phone as I hum so I don’t wake him.

I’m flipping bacon when I hear the doorknob jiggles on the front door.

Who the hell is trying to get inside this house at six in the morning?

I tiptoe to my purse and take out my gun as the front door opens.

“Who the fuck are you?” I point the gun at the man juggling three grocery bags, a coffee carrier in between his teeth so he can’t actually answer me, and a look of complete bewilderment.

A loud bang shakes the ceiling, followed by cursing and yelling.

“HAVEN!” I roll my eyes, knowing his dumb ass just fell out of the bed in a panic to get to me.

It’s sweet, and I wish I had it on camera to watch later.

“MMMhhmmmHH,” I raise an eyebrow at the man in a Royal Bastard cut.

I lower my weapon as Joel comes rushing down the stairs.

“Fuck, don’t shoot my VP.” I place my gun on the counter and glance at the stove.

“Great, the bacon burned.” As soon as I say the words, the fire alarm goes off.

With a sigh, I flip the burner off and grab a kitchen towel to wave at the fucking thing.

“Haven?” I glance at the men who are staring at me.

“What?” I stop waving the towel and adjust my posture from being on my tippy toes.

“That shirt is see-through. Twister, stop looking at my ol’ lady.” He kicks his VP’s shin, and he gulps hard.

I glance down at myself and see the problem.

“He ain’t seen tits before?” I shrug and turn to dispose of the burnt bacon.

“NOT YOURS.” I smile to myself.

“Cable, I didn’t see much.” I glance up in time to see Joel punching him in the gut.

“YOU SAW NOTHING. Babe, please go get dressed.” I kiss his cheek as I pass by to do as he asked.

“Take it easy on him. He just had a gun pointed at his head. He’s having a rough morning.” I slap his ass on my way out to the kitchen, and even though Twister is still bent over holding his stomach in pain, I see the smirk at my action and wink at him.

I’m dressed and back downstairs in minutes, only to find Twister cooking the breakfast I started.

“Is there a reason why you’re here so early?” Why is this man looking at me with a guilty look?

It can’t possibly be because of the shirt thing?

I turn to Joel.

“What did you do?” I narrow my eyes at him.

“ME?” I’m not buying the look of innocence on his face for a minute.

“Your VP is in your house at dawn, clearly unaware I’d be here, so yes, you.” I cross my arms and wait.

“Um, I asked him to call a meeting for me, but I didn’t know it would be so soon, here, or that you’d be around for it.” His voice turns angrier as he speaks, but he looks away from me to Twister by the end.

“A meeting with who?” The doorbell rings, and the men freeze.

“Oh, this should be good. Don’t all move at once. I’ll get it.” Joel goes to grab me, but I manage to avoid his arms and open the front door to a very confused-looking Apex.

“Azreal, what are you doing here? Is Cable dead?” I turn to look at the man in question.

“Not yet.”

I let him inside and slam the door shut.

“Before you try to explain your way out of this, I want to know one thing. Did you have the balls to ask him here yourselves, or did you delegate that job to the club?” I’m fuming, and Joel knows it.

“Haven,” I shake my head and raise my hand, stopping him from getting closer.

Apex steps between us, and I sigh.

“I don’t know you, Cable, but Haven, I know well enough to tell you she doesn’t want you to touch her. So why don’t you back up?” I close my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose.

“God save me from stupid men,” I grumble as I try to move Apex, but I’d have better luck solving the meaning of life.

“You’re standing between my ol’ lady and me. The only person who needs to move is you.” At this point, I’m hearing the blah-blah noises from Charlie Brown.

“STOP!”

The room freezes at my yell.

“If you’re going to fuck each other up because you’ve both seen my vagina, then take it outside. I’m not cleaning up the mess, and Twister has nothing to do with your bullshit jealousy.” I point to the back door and shove them both in that direction.

Apex and Joel look from me to each other twice before Twister busts out laughing at this scenario.

“He’s here to give a report on a tracking assignment, but please go beat the shit out of each other. This is the best breakfast meeting I’ve ever attended.” He coughs and gasps between chuckles.

“Oh.” I cross my arms and lean up against the wall.

“Haven baby, you’re horrible for my health,” Apex says with a grin on his face.

“Fuck off and don’t call her baby.” Joel grabs me and kisses me before I can say another word.

“Sit down, shut up, and listen. Later, I’m fucking your mouth for starting so much trouble.” He whispers into my ear as he gently pushes me onto the couch.

“Okay, but I’m not gonna swallow.”

Apex spat the drink of coffee that Twister had just handed him.

“Christ,” Joel sighs as I smirk.

Maybe I’ll surprise him later.
