Tannin knocked on her door. Maudie told him earlier that his son and her niece Angel were out in the back ten of Maudie’s backyard having a picnic under the watchful eyes of Ruby and Ragan. He wanted to check on Bethy before they got back.

He nodded. “We don’t have to do this now, if you aren’t ready.”
“Really?” she asked.
“Really. I can wait as long as it takes. I already told you that.”

Nodding, she stood from the bed.
He stood as well.
Pulling the straps down, her sundress fell to the floor. She wore black lace panties and a lace bra.

She gasped. “This is all a dream. I never thought we would be together again.”
