Chapter 20

Valac

Valac stared down at Julian’s lax profile as he floated in the bliss of his first orgasm.

His plush lips were parted, pale gold hair in disarray and eyelids heavy with ecstasy.

His face and neck were rosy, and his sweet scent filled Valac’s lungs, stronger than ever.

He was truly the most beautiful human he’d ever seen.

He scissored his fingers gently inside Julian’s hole.

His climax had helped relax him, and now his body was almost ready.

He withdrew his fingers, using shadows to plug him open once more.

Julian didn’t react, and Valac wiped the lube onto the blanket beside them and leaned over him, kissing his cheek and temple until Julian opened his eyes and graced him with a smile.

“Still with me?” Valac asked.

“Definitely,” Julian rasped.

“How do you feel?”

“I… feel…” He shifted his hips, and his eyes widened. “Oh. That’s not your fingers anymore, is it?”

Valac smiled. “No.”

“That’s crazy,” Julian whispered. “I had no idea you could do that with your powers.”

He chuckled. “Truthfully, neither did I. It responds to you in a way I’ve never felt before. Like it wants you as much as I do.”

Julian’s eyes blew wide, but his brow furrowed. “Isn’t it just part of you, though? It doesn’t have a mind of its own, does it?”

“No, it doesn’t, but…” Valac struggled to find the words to explain it. “It’s a more primal part. The darkest and most demonic part. It reacts to my most basic instincts, like bloodlust or anger or, apparently, desire. For you.”

Julian raised up on his elbows, and though the shadows still circled his arms, they allowed the movement. This conversation was important. “You’re saying the deepest, darkest, most demonic piece of you recognizes me as something it wants to—what, satisfy?”

Valac kissed him. “Yes. Whatever has drawn me to you, it affects every part of me. The conscious and the unconscious.”

Julian’s gaze softened. “I know the feeling.”

Warmth flooded Valac unlike anything he’d ever felt. He nudged Julian’s legs apart to make room for himself, needing to join their bodies more than he’d ever needed anything. “Open up for me. I want your body to learn the shape of mine.”

Julian moaned, lowering his head back to the bed and spreading his knees as far as he could.

Valac smeared kisses across his back as he used a generous amount of lube and notched his aching cock at Julian’s entrance.

The shadows receded as he pressed inside, stretching Julian even further than the shadowed plug had.

Julian sobbed, twisting his fingers in the sheet. “Oh God, you’re too big.”

Valac stilled. “I can fit, my jewel. Relax your body.”

Tension vibrated Julian’s shoulders. “I’m trying.”

Valac leaned over him, running his hands over his body and raining kisses across his tense back.

Slowly, Julian relaxed in increments, loosening his grip on the sheet and turning his head to meet Valac’s mouth.

Valac pressed in a little deeper, inching further and further inside until he was rooted deep and sweat gleamed on Julian’s pale skin.

“Okay?” he asked, licking the salt from Julian’s shoulder.

Julian’s thighs tightened and relaxed, like he had to consciously remind himself not to tense. “I think so,” he rasped.

Valac reached for the lube, opening the cap as he pulled halfway out.

Julian hissed, burying his face in the mattress.

Valac poured some more lube on his cock and hitched his hips, rocking in and out in small, careful movements.

Julian’s back arched, and the muffled sounds deepened as pleasure took hold once more.

He took his time working his length in and out of Julian, widening his thrusts until the sound of slapping flesh filled the air.

The sway of Julian’s leanly muscled back was mesmerizing, the desperate sounds of his pleasure giving Valac a high like no other.

He thought back to that moment in the Rink, watching Julian lift weights with the other humans, and how hungry he’d been to be underneath him, fucking up between his spread legs.

He slowed his thrusts and pulled out gently, and Julian whined at the loss, turning to look over his shoulder at him.

“Come here.” Valac rotated them, reclining against the pillows and pulling Julian on top of him.

Their eyes met in the mirror across the room as his shadows urged Julian’s legs wide.

His face was red, his body radiating heat as Valac eased his cock inside once more.

Julian’s face was a mask of exquisite agony as he sank down, and Valac guided him by the hips, bringing their bodies flush.

His knees were inside Julian’s, keeping them spread open, and his hard cock jutted up against the jockstrap on his belly as Valac thrust up into him.

Valac could see himself disappearing inside Julian’s hole in the mirror.

“Look,” Valac growled, taking Julian’s chin in one hand. “Look at how well you take me.” One hand trailed down Julian’s body, past his length and balls, tucked inside the thin fabric of the jock, to feel himself slide in and out.

He guided Julian’s arms up around his neck, and his shadows wound tight around them, pinning them there and leaving Julian completely exposed.

His hips circled, meeting Valac’s sinuous thrusts, his back arching.

Valac tugged the fabric of the jockstrap aside, freeing his leaking cock, which bobbed in the air as they moved together.

With his hands free to explore, Valac took his time, tracing the divots of his ribs, the trail of hair down the center of his stomach, dipping into his belly button.

When he found the puckered nubs of his nipples, Julian keened, his spine bowing.

Valac stayed there, pinching and flicking and circling.

Shadows wrapped around Julian’s cock, squeezing in an undulating motion from base to tip. Julian jolted hard at the touch, his body trembling with need.

“Valac—I’m gonna come,” he warned, grinding down on Valac’s cock and up into the tight grip of his power.

“Yes,” Valac urged. “I want to feel it. Let me have it. Come for me, my jewel.”

Julian squeezed his eyes shut as he came for the second time, sobbing and shaking, the back of his head digging hard into Valac’s shoulder.

His hole tightened like a vise around Valac’s cock, milking his own orgasm from him.

He saw stars, and his power flung from his body in all directions, stretching out and then pulling in like a rubber band snapping back into place, curling around their bodies like a protective cocoon of darkness.

Julian panted in the aftermath, and Valac laid his hands on his ribs, feeling every inhale and exhale. His upper body twisted, and he tucked his nose under Valac’s ear as his breaths slowed.

“Have I gone blind?” he asked after a few moments. His voice was thick.

Valac smiled. “No.” With a moment’s focus, he pulled the shadows back inside himself, and Julian tilted his head back to meet his eyes.

“You’re kind of incredible, you know that?”

Valac’s arms tightened around him. No one had ever said such a thing to him before. “No, my jewel. You are.” And it was true. He was the only human who had never cowered in fear from Valac. The only one who’d treated him like a person rather than a monster.

A dry sob worked its way out of Julian’s throat, and he wrapped his arms around Valac’s neck. “I’m so glad you’re here. Don’t ever leave me, okay?”

Valac growled, a low and warning sound to anything that might try to separate them. “I won’t. I swear it.”

Valac didn’t often sleep, but that night he drifted off with Julian in his arms and woke on his back with the human’s weight sprawled across his chest. His soft snores filled the air, and a damp spot on his chest suggested Julian was drooling. A smile lifted Valac’s lips.

So, this was what happiness felt like.

The midday sun lit their apartment with indirect light, and he scowled at the bright windows.

They would have to remember to close the dark curtains if they planned to stay here.

Valac didn’t care where they lived, as long as they were together.

If Julian wanted to find another house like his last one, that would be fine with him.

He was content to lay there and let Julian sleep.

For once, his human’s dreams were untroubled.

He basked in the heat of Julian’s naked body against his own, trailing his fingers up and down Julian’s spine.

Last night was everything he’d hoped it would be.

Julian was responsive and eager, and Valac’s body stirred with desire at the memory of the tight clench of his channel as he climaxed.

“Is that an anaconda, or are you just happy to see me?” Julian murmured sleepily, raising his head and smiling at him.

Valac chuckled. “Sleep well?”

“Very well. No nightmares. Did you have something to do with that?”

“No. In fact, I fell asleep myself. I haven’t been awake long.”

“Hm.” Julian slid up the bed and flopped down beside him, their heads sharing the same pillow. “I think it was still you. I think your presence soothes me.”

Warm fondness flooded through him. “I hope so. I feel the same, my jewel.”

Julian gave him a quick kiss. “Shouldn’t I be sore? Last night was… strenuous. But I feel fine.”

“It’s my blood,” Valac said. “It helped you recover more quickly than usual.”

Julian’s face brightened with understanding. “Oh, right. I didn’t expect it to help with, uh, sex stuff, though.” His cheeks reddened. It was adorable, given what they’d done last night.

“Yes,” Valac said, pressing in for another kiss.

“It’ll help with everything. Your body will bounce back much quicker.

You’ll experience less soreness, both in your muscles and from my stretching you open.

” He slid one hand down the curve of Julian’s spine and between his cheeks to brush against his hole.

Julian’s mouth opened on a soft mewl.
