Chapter 7 #2
“Whatever floats your boat.” Rance laughed and turned it into a cough when everyone turned to stare at him.
As soon as Brew left them for his office, she breathed a sigh of relief that she’d never done before.
It was going to be taken care of, and the sooner the better.
She was just grateful that Brew didn’t kill her when she first came into his house demanding to speak to him.
When he came back some twenty minutes later, he handed her the scribbled down some versions of what was going to be said.
He had the highlights, silver chains wrapped around him, commanding him to come.
She just hoped it worked out so that it was all right.
She didn’t want to mess anything up when they were finally taking care of David.
“I command that you come to me wrapped securely in silver chains so that you cannot harm anyone in my household.” The snarling monster came blasting into the room in seconds.
Brew had wasted no time in getting him here, and for that she was grateful.
Now all they had to do was take care of him.
“David Eugene Smith, son of Agus and Eugene Smith, I hear by pronounce that you be killed by removing your head.”
“Hang on a second. You can’t do that. I’ve done nothing wrong.
And take these chains off of me right now, or I’m going to be pissed off more than I already am.
” He asked why he was covered in blood. “I cut myself shaving.” He must have thought that was very funny because he laughed for a good twenty minutes.
“We know for a fact that you’ve killed a human. That is certain death for you.” He asked who she was. “She’s Kimber Smith, mate to your brother.”
She forgot to tell him not to mention that they were mates.
It was too late now, but the way he looked at her made her glad that he was chained up.
David looked like he’d just been given the greatest prize ever, and she was it.
If he got away, he’d not hesitate in killing her, and she’d die a painful death when he removed her head.
There was no telling how long that was going to take him, being that he knew what she was now. Kimmy was terrified.
David was sat up so that he could talk better.
None of the chains were removed, but he still complained about them.
She knew that it was burning into his skin; there were raw places all over his neck and face from them.
Not that she cared, she hoped he suffered a great deal for what he’d been doing to humans and other creatures.
“I demand my right to council. They should be doing this anyway. I know that they’d not have me trussed up in chains like an animal.” Rance said that he was an animal. “Says who? No one is complaining about me.”
“Because you leave no one alive after you’re finished with them.
We know that you killed your parents.” Brew pulled out a thick file and opened it up.
“It says here that you were warned about using your knives on people when you kill them. I’m going to sentence you to death for the hundreds of deaths associated with your name in the book. ”
“What book?” He told him that it was the book of vampires.
“You’re going to trust a book about our kind over me?
That’s not entirely fair, do you think? You should be asking me who I killed and whether or not I took my knives to them.
The council was going to return my rights to me, too. Where are they?”
“Dead. Just as you will be in a few minutes.” Brew lifted his hand and was stopped by David. “I don’t have time for you. What are your last words?”
“I don’t deserve to die. I am doing this for our kind.
” Rance asked him how he thought that was working.
“You’re nothing but a pussy. Christ, when I think about how you’ve lived your life, I want to puke.
You should have been making the humans cattle for us instead of mating with them.
She’s human, isn’t she? Christ. That’s just great.
My sister-in-law is a human being and a worthless one at that. ”
Kimmy felt the power in her hands and stepped up to David. Putting her hand around his neck, she cried out from the evilness of him but continued to hold him there. As his head began to splinter away from his shoulders, she smiled at him.
“You’ll die, so I don’t have to be afraid of you anymore.
” When the chains no longer held their prey, she watched his face.
The look of shock on his face was more than she could have hoped for, and she was glad that she’d been able to do it.
The screams coming from him were enough to wake the dead, and she was happy for it.
“You will be no more, your ashes will spread far and wide, so that no one has to be fearful of you getting away again.”

The wounds on Kimber’s hand healed almost immediately.
She had bits of blood on her from David.
It was from his latest victim. It made it easier for them to find her when they tasted the blood.
By the time they got to her, she was gone.
The poor woman had suffered a great deal and wouldn’t have lived much longer if David had been able to continue.
Kimber was glad that it was over for her because it looked as if she had suffered by his knives for hours.
She was crying when Brew asked to speak to her.
“You’re going to be pissed off, and I find that I don’t care.
I don’t know what you were doing, talking to him like he was going to be able to talk himself out of his punishment.
” He said he was gathering facts. “You have enough of those. He’s been killing since he was five years old. And you know that.”
“I know that the paperwork says that I don’t see a child killing the way that they said that he did.” Rance stood behind Kimber when Brew started pacing. “I would have killed him. Now it will go down in the books that he was killed by you. People are going to ask questions.”
“I don’t care. You have no idea what it’s been like for me living with him hanging around my shoulders all the time.
I thought he was going to convince you to let him go.
I couldn’t allow that. He would have killed everyone in this household and then gone on a killing spree that would have ruined this little town.
He wouldn’t have shown any mercy either.
” Brew asked Kimber if she really thought that he’d let that happen.
“I was afraid for you all. I told you, had he been set free in your house, he would have been able to kill you. You invited him in knowing the type of monster that he is.”
“I would have died saving you.” She said that there was no reason for it now that it was over.
“All right. It’s over. I’m not happy with the way things turned out, but I’m glad that he’s dead.
Now the book will fill out for all the deaths that are associated with him.
There will be more than we can count, I’m afraid. ”
“I am as well.” The staff cleaned up the ash that was left behind. The chains disappeared as well because they were no longer needed. Even as they sat around the living room, the room that had held so much drama from before, they acted like nothing had happened.
Rance felt such a relief that he had to hold onto the back of the couch in order to go and sit down.
He was gone. His brother was finally out of his life, and he owed it all to his mate.
She had gone to the house knowing that she could kill him, and she did.
He would be forever grateful to her for as long as he lived.
And he felt like it would be much longer now that David was out of the picture.
Having declined dinner, they were headed out the door when Rance turned to his good friend. He hugged him tightly, telling him in that way other than professing his love for him. Then he stood back to allow Kimber to do the same.
“You need to make us your seconds. Myself for Calla and Kimber for you. It would be balanced out, and I think she’s already proven that she’s up for the job.” They all four laughed. “She’ll protect you better because she knows the rules. And that will help you a great deal in the future.”
“I’ll consider it.” Brew looked at Kimber. “Thank you for tonight. I don’t know what I would have done had you not been here, but I’m glad that it’s over.”
“I got your back. And you should really consider us to be your seconds. I know that you know I will protect you with my life, but with the new baby coming along, you’re going to need someone around that can protect the three of you.
” He asked her about children. “We’ve not talked about it yet.
But when we do, I’ll let you know what we decide. ”
“I have a feeling that you saved more than my household today, Kimber. You’ve been dealing with David for some time now, and it’s finally caught up with him. I’m glad. However, next time I tell you I have it, believe me.” She said she’d try. “I suppose that’s all I can hope for today.
The two of them walked home and went into the living room.
Kimber told him she was exhausted, and he found that he was as well.
They’d both been under a great deal of pressure lately, and now that it was over, they both needed their rest. As soon as they got to their room, the two of them stripped down and got into bed.
Kimber was asleep before he was able to get comfortable in the bed.
Hearing from Brew so soon after leaving him, he laughed a little when he answered him that he was still awake.
