Chapter 6 #2

He’d shown me that he always had the time I wanted to spend with him. He just didn’t have it to give to me. Not until now.

I lifted the glass in my right hand and poured the contents down my throat. I didn’t straighten my spine until it was empty. Inhaling deeply, I closed my eyes.

I miss you, too.

My teeth sank into my bottom lip. The breath I’d tried taking got caught in my throat. The darkness began to spin. My heart rate increased, pounding against my chest.

“Please,” I begged in a whisper. “Please, Josiah.”

He was consuming.

All-consuming.

I felt his hand against my leg.

Against my thighs.

Against the seat of my panties.

My nostrils widened with desperation. I searched my senses for him. Specifically my olfactory rolodex. It was extensive, but he was at the front of the deck. He didn’t reek of suit and hopelessness like so many I’d encountered beyond those prison walls.

He projected light, life, hope, and confidence. His natural PH combined with the soap he used to cleanse his body was enough to stamp his fragrance in my memories.

“Baby!”

I hadn’t heard the door open. I hadn’t heard Kason step into the hallway. But, I felt him. I felt his arms around my body, pulling me closer, and making me feel something. Making me feel some things. Making me feel safe. Making me feel partially satisfied.

It’s not enough.

“Hi.”

Kason pulled back slowly, never releasing me from his grip.

“You planned on standing out here all night or coming to enjoy this beautiful view of the city?”

With a smile, I tilted my head rightward. “Shall we?”

Kason leaned forward, pressing his lips against mine. Our tongues met. And, they danced. They swayed and they clung to each other as if it was their first and last meeting.

“Mmm–” he groaned, pulling back. “I’ve missed you.”

I waited.

I waited for his words to have an effect on me.

I waited for his words to have the same effect on me as Josiah’s had.

I waited for them to enlarge my heart to the point of pain.

I waited for them to send an ache down my spine.

I waited for them to wet my bottom lash line.

I waited.

But, there was nothing.

With a smile, I placed my lips on his again, silencing my thoughts.

Kason offered instant gratification. It was rewarding, but the effects wore off swiftly.

The moment he was out of sight, he was out of mind, most times.

Until I needed another dose. Another hit. Another piece of what he had to offer.

But–

Josiah.

Josiah had a lasting impression.

Left me with unshakeable feelings.

Demanded my brain cells.

Consumed my thoughts.

Altered my body’s chemistry.

Touched parts of me his hands had never and would never feel.

There was nothing instant about Josiah but our connection. Everything else promised longevity. Even the bulge in his pants was part of his extensive program.

“I’ve been looking forward to this evening,” I stated, honestly.

I had been.

I always looked forward to spending time with Kason, because it usually ended on a high note.

It wasn’t until lately that I had begun to feel a sense of obligation during our visits.

As if I was analyzing, observing more closely, taking more notes, and comparing him to a man with cuffed wrists and ankles.

Shame.

“Have you now?”

I nodded, arms wrapped around the handsome man in front of me.

He stepped backward, deepening our presence in the beautiful suite.

The dive into Kason’s finances left breadcrumbs that hinted at a small investment in the property.

It was one of the few he’d shelled out money for. All were incredibly smart investments.

“Um hmmm.”

Candles flickered in my peripheral vision. A golden glow coated the walls. Blue lights led us toward the balcony where a private pool awaited us.

“I didn’t bring swimwear.”

“That won’t be necessary.”

I placed my hands against the railing. The late evening breeze caressed my skin. Clarke’s skyline reminded me of the city’s beauty. It was breathtaking.

Chlorine-filtered water bubbled in the background. Serenity surrounded me. My chest rose and fell with each breath I took. Contentment was near, yet so far away. I was in the in-between, but absent of complaint.

This is fine. Right here. Right now.

My top slid from my body with ease. My jeans followed. Every piece of jewelry and garment rested on the soft cushion of the poolside sofa as I tiptoed across the concrete. I lowered my right foot into the water. Warmth coddled me.

I inhaled, pulling in a large body of oxygen.

My lower half was submerged by the time I exhaled.

I didn’t stop in my quest to find comfort.

My long limbs made it impossible to deepen my frame in the warm water.

As an alternative, I lowered my body onto the bench that started at one end and trailed the outline of the pool.

“Mm.”

“Champagne?”

Kason’s disappearance proved to be beneficial. Not only because I appreciated my solitude as much as I despised it, but because he didn’t return empty-handed.

“Yes.”

Pop.

Fizzzzzz.

Clink.

The dynamic trio were music to my ears. Seconds after their debut, Kason stepped into the dimly lit pool.

“I had the staff increase the temperature. Please let me know if it’s too warm.”

“It’s perfect,” I responded, taking the champagne flute he’d extended in my direction.

“Aside from you,” he paused, kissing my lips. “I didn’t think that was possible.”

My smile started at the center of my face and crept up the sides. Genuinely appeased by his gentleness, I leaned into him, pressing my breasts against his skin. My nipples hardened on contact. It was becoming increasingly clear why Kason hadn’t expected swimwear.

“Is that right?”

“That’s right, baby.”

As the champagne glass touched my lips, Kason lowered his. He took my right nipple into his mouth, forcing me to lower the flute.

“Mmmmm.”

He released me. But, our disconnection was temporary. The left nipple sunk into his mouth. My head fell backward. My chest rose. My breath halted in my throat.

“Kason–”

I closed my eyes as my world began to spin.

My body was hoisted and placed onto the concrete.

Instinctively, I parted my legs. Kason’s greed lured him to my sweetest spot.

I opened my eyes as he disappeared between my thighs, unable to pass up the opportunity to see a fine Black man right where he belonged.

Between Black thighs.

I leaned backward, giving him full access to my oasis.

“That’s it, baby,” he whispered, sucking me into his mouth.

My walls contracted, shoving against one another as I clenched my muscles.

“Uhhhhhhh.”

A finger slid into me. As it slid out, another one joined. Together, they massaged me internally. Kason’s tongue, it kneaded the kinks out of my clit.

“Yessssss.”

Heavy with lust, my eyelids possessed far too much weight for me to carry.

Upon closure, dark, glistening skin appeared.

The silhouette of his dick was no longer visible through government issued pants.

His girth was in full view. So was his curve.

And, the slight discoloration at the head of his shaft.

My mouth watered as I studied the weighty piece of meat that I yearned to devour.

Oh God.

Seemingly familiar hands pulled me closer to the edge, slowly and carefully. A deep baritone awakened my senses. A thick tongue promised a messy beginning. And, a thick log promised the happiest ending. Kason was no longer in the space with me. He’d been replaced.

Josiaaaaaaaaaaah. I moaned, internally.
