Renley
The closer he got, the more impatient he became. When he stopped for gas just outside of Austin, he sent her a text, getting a picture of a fire pit in response.
We’re out back, just come around the house when you get here.
Be safe!
Sounds like a perfect end to a long day.
Laira’s house was in the middle of nowhere.
At least, that’s what it seemed like in the dark.
He drove up the long, winding driveway, past an open gate, and parked next to Eveline’s car.
Not bothering with anything but his hat, he jumped out the truck and followed the laughter and giggles around the side of the house.
He found them surrounding the familiar-looking fire pit that sat off the side of the porch.
“Renley!” Eveline cheered, spreading her arms and tugging him down to her level as soon as he was within arm’s reach.
“I missed you,” he hummed into her hair, kissing her cheek before turning to the other two.
“Laira, Tod, this is Renley.”
Even though he didn’t want to, he stepped away from his sweet kitten and shook both their hands. “Thank you for having me.”
“Don’t thank us yet, you haven’t met the monsters,” Laira chuckled.
“I’m sure Eveline will help me wrangle them,” Renley said, taking the glass that Tod offered him.
He sat it down next to Eveline’s beach chair, hauling her into his arms. Once she’d stolen his hat and set it on the table, he took her place in the chair and with her in his lap, he finally felt whole again. “A little tipsy, are we?”
“Not at all,” she lied, giggling and kissing his cheek. “How was the drive?”
He nodded and took a sip from his wine. “It was fine once I left Houston.”
“I hope you’re not too tired. We have a busy weekend ahead.”
“Oh, don’t scare the poor boy,” Tod intervened. “The boys still have school tomorrow so you two can relax in the morning.”
“So, what are our plans then?” he asked, unable to resist nuzzling into Eveline’s neck.
“I thought we could take the boys to the trampoline park Saturday. If you don’t mind keeping an eye on them.”
“You’ll be lucky if I don’t get out there with them.”
“We’ll make a whole day trip out of it.” Redirecting her attention to her sister, Eveline added, “And you two can have a whole day for yourselves. We’ll entertain the boys and get them to bed. So you’d better be out of this house when we get back.”
Tod picked up Laira’s hand and kissed her knuckles. “Already have it all planned out.”
Eveline continued. “And we’re meeting Dad for dinner on Sunday.”
He masked the spike of panic in his chest with a kiss to her cheek. “Perfect.”
The fire truly was the perfect end to a long day. He held Eveline close while the embers slowly died out. When they’d both finished their drinks, Eveline wiggled out of his hold and pulled her wheelchair closer.
“Come on, let’s get you inside.”
“Try to get some sleep,” Laira teased, earning a wink and a smirk from her sister.
“Let me grab my stuff from the truck.”
As they walked, Renley noticed the little things that made the house more accessible for Eveline: the yard had a paved path, and both doors had ramps instead of stairs. Inside, she showed him to their spacious room on the first floor with an ensuite bathroom.
“You seem tired,” she said, pulling him down to cup his cheek.
“I am.”
“Well, time to cuddle and rest up. We might get lucky to sleep in tomorrow, but I can’t promise it’ll happen all weekend.”
The second he laid by her side, his arms tightly around her, he was out like a light.
Soft snickering woke Renley the next morning. It took him a moment to realise where he was, but Laira’s voice jogged his memory.
“Let them be,” she whisper-yelled. “You’ll meet him after school.”
Eveline’s body shook in his arms as she tried to suppress her giggle. When the footsteps quieted, she couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Told you.”
He pulled her tightly to his chest and kissed her forehead, unable to fight the tingle that spread through his veins. “If I’m going to be interrogated by children, I’m going to do it with food. Let’s go.”
Seeing that Eveline only threw a sweatshirt over her pyjamas, Renley didn’t do more than slip into the fluffy slippers she’d bought him. He followed her into the kitchen, where Laira had tamed Mathew and Drew with pancakes while she packed their lunches.
The younger one, Drew if he remembered correctly, waved excitedly. “Uncle Renley!”
That made Renley’s heart jump.
“Drew, remember what we talked about,” Laira scolded, offering Renley an apologetic smile.
“But he’s Auntie Eve’s boyfriend.”
“He has a point,” Tod chimed in as he came down the stairs. “I’m off.”
Laira pulled him into a kiss and handed him a lunch bag. “Love you.”
“Love you too,” and with a kiss for each of his boys and a smile towards the two adults, Tod left.
With a plate filled with pancakes that Laira insisted he have, Renley sat down between the boys and Eveline.
“Are you coming with us tomorrow?” Mathew garbled around a mouthful of pancake.
“I am, so I hope you guys are ready for a jump-off on the trampolines.”
“They have a zipline too!” Drew cheered.
With a sigh, Laira stood behind her two blond-headed boys and combed through their messy hair. “You two better behave otherwise they will not take you again.”
“Yes, Mom,” they promised in unison.
“Now, grab your bags and put your shoes on.”
They scrambled off their chairs, rushing to the front door and grabbing their things. With bright smiles and waves their mother ushered them out the door.
“Did she even have anything to eat?” Renley asked, looking around.
“Probably in between getting those two ready.” Eveline bent over and kissed his cheek. “You’re sweet for noticing.”
He captured her chin and pressed his lips more firmly to hers, his heart exploding with joy he could barely place. He was with her. Not just with her but he was hers, truly and utterly hers. So much so she wanted him to be part of her family.
Uncle Renley . He could get used to that.
They kissed until they were both breathless, and only then did Renley pull away. “Do you want coffee?”
With flushed cheeks, Eveline nodded, and Renley set to work, not stopping until the kitchen was clean and breakfast was nothing but a vague memory.
Joining Eveline on the back porch, he overlooked a large vegetable garden, chicken coop, and an old barn that seemed to have been converted into a workshop.
“It’s beautiful out here,” he hummed, taking her hand in his.
“It’s my peaceful escape, even with Mathew and Drew tumbling around.”
They enjoyed the quiet until an engine nearing let them know Laira had returned, instantly scolding them for the clean kitchen.
“It was all Renley,” Eveline defended.
“Thanks for throwing me under the bus,” he mumbled, Laira joining them with a coffee and a rolled-up pancake.
“You two are supposed to be relaxing.”
“I find cleaning rather relaxing.”
“Ah, so you’re just a weirdo.” Laira rolled her eyes and sat down with them. “I know you already told the boys you’ll take them tomorrow, but you don’t have to.”
Renley leaned close to Eveline and fake-whispered, “Is that your sister’s way of letting me know she doesn’t want me around her kids?”
“I think that’s her way of experiencing mom guilt for shoving her kids on us so she can have sex with her husband.”
Laira blushed furiously, smacking her sister’s arm. “He doesn’t have to know that!”
“Why not? He’s an adult. I’m pretty sure he already had a hunch.”
He chuckled to himself, loving how they bickered with each other. “That way you don’t have to sneak around anyone’s back or fear tiny humans finding you naked in bed.”
“Oh my God, I’m talking about my sex life with a total stranger.”
He crooked a brow at her. “It’s only fair. You know about ours.”
The two sisters shared a guilty look. “We do talk quite openly,” Laira admitted.
“We don’t have to if it makes you uncomfortable,” Eveline told her sister. “But you and Tod deserve some alone time, and I have to test Renley’s ability to deal with children.”
That made his fingertips and toes tingle. “I better make sure I get an A plus-plus if I don’t want to be kicked to the curb.”
“You’ve made a good start.”
“I don’t need good ,” he protested playfully. “I need to be excellent. How else will I convince you to keep me around?”
“You could keep wearing those sexy cowboy outfits.”
That made him blush, and he leaned in to kiss her temple. “And here I thought you were dating me for my dazzling personality.”
Laira broke out in laughter and with that one conversation, the ice was broken. Not that there seemed to be much, but Laira quickly overcame the embarrassment of the sex talk. They chatted all morning, seeming to forget the time until Laira jumped up like a bee had stung her.
When the boys arrived, they sprinted round the house and threw themselves at Eveline before dragging Renley to the chicken coop.
He was introduced to all the chickens and was allowed to collect the eggs—which they informed him was one of their daily chores, alongside feeding them.
He spent the afternoon out in the sun, Eveline bringing him drinks occasionally while the boys fed him berries and other fruit they’d found in their mother’s garden.
Tod insisted on grilling out that evening, so Renley and the boys pulled some fresh salad and potatoes from the garden and helped prep the sides while Tod watched the grill.
Once the boys were asleep, he wondered who was more tired: him or the monsters. He barely had the energy to shower before collapsing onto the bed.
“But you had fun?” Eveline asked as she undressed.
“I did.” Cocking a brow, he added, “You better not be thinking about putting pyjamas on yet.”
Eveline paused, eyes raking over his body that was covered with nothing more than a towel. “You don’t want me to get dressed?”
“Hell no. How am I supposed to worship you if you’ve got clothes on?”
“But you’re tired.”
“And?” He stood up and pointed at the bed. “Get comfortable.”
While she did as he demanded, he fished through his bag for the condoms he’d brought—only for Eveline to stop him. “We don’t need those.”
He paused with the foil packet in his hand. “…Huh?”
“I’ve been on birth control since we started dating—I only wanted to wait until it was effective.”
Blood rushed south so fast that Renley swayed, lightheaded. “I can fuck you bare?”
“If you feel comfortable with it.”
“Comfortable?” he whisper-gasped. “You’ll be lucky if I don’t blow the second I’m inside that sweet pussy.”
A slow grin crawling across her lips, Eveline rolled her lip between her teeth. “Why is that so hot?”
He dramatically tossed the condom aside, scrambling onto the bed and crashing his mouth down to Eveline’s. “I’m not joking, I won’t last long.”
“That’s one hell of a complement.”
He was so fucked. Knocking her legs apart, he settled between them, grinding her into the mattress with another possessive kiss.
He swallowed up her moans, slipping his fingers through her dripping pussy.
He didn’t waste time, pushing his tip into her, precum dripping from his slit.
He tried to focus on the kiss and the way the soft skin of her waist felt under his palm as he held her in place.
He poured all of his adoration into that kiss, spreading her open inch by inch.
Her fingers danced up his sides, caressing his back. He took her slowly, but she grabbed his hips tightly and urged him to move faster.
“Kitten,” he warned between gritted teeth, her cunt warm and soft around his cock.
“Please,” she begged. “Don’t be ashamed.”
“You feel too good,” he groaned, grinding his hips into her slowly, trembling with the effort of not giving in to the primal urges coursing through his system.
Eveline’s head rolled back, fingernails digging into his skin.
“Fuck,” he hissed, unable to hold back any longer.
His hips picked up pace, slamming into her.
He groaned, muffled with her mouth on his.
It only took a few thrusts before he could feel his toes curl.
He fought the tingle in his spine with everything he had, but it was in vain.
His cock swelled and pulsed, Eveline drawing out his orgasm by squeezing around him.
He panted, the thought of filling her with his come almost too much to handle.
When the high vanished, he peppered her jaw with kisses. “I’m sorry,” he whispered.
She only hummed in response and when he pulled out, Eveline quickly shot a hand between her legs.
At first, he thought she wanted to stop his cum from leaking out, but then saw her swirling her fingers through the release.
She rubbed the mess over her clit, her head rolling back to the pillows as she fucked herself.
Mesmerised, his eyes were glued to the beautiful sight, heart thumping with each beautiful moan she let out as she drove herself to her climax.
He didn’t dare to move, didn’t want to distract her.
Eveline fucked herself rough, unrelenting until her whole body tensed and his name fell from her lips like a prayer.
When her eyes peeled open and she saw him watching, her face turned red.
“That was mind-blowing,” he praised, firmly pushing his palms over her thighs.
“Not weird?”
“Weird? That was fucking hot, kitten.”
She swallowed hard, suddenly avoiding his gaze. “I thought about the birth control failing. Seeing you with the boys today may have given me baby fever. I know what we have is too new to consider kids, but the thought did something to me.”
Leaning down, he kissed her forehead. “Hearing you say you want to test how good of a dad I could be had me all kinds of crazy too. I’m with you, we are too new, but I look forward to the day when we can toss the birth control.”
He helped her clean and dress, holding her against his chest as she fell asleep. Pictures of their future filled his dreams—ones that he couldn’t wait to see fulfilled.
