Chapter 9
Reyes
This girl is going to be the death of me, I just know it.
She deserves this though, just as much as we do.
Honestly, probably more than us. They took so much from her, and she’s going to get her revenge–in blood.
I don’t even want to think about the shit my brother is going through. I just know we need to get him back.
“You okay over there, Loverboy?” Raven asks, pulling me from my thoughts.
I’ve been staring out of the same window since Zeke and Eddie left, plotting and thinking of different scenarios.
I need this to go our way when we find him.
It’ll be me, her and Damien. That’s it. And with her condition, there’s no room for error.
“Yeah, Little Devil. I’m all good, just thinking,” I reply back, running my hands through my hair as I walk towards her bed.
“We got this. Trust me, and if not me, trust Damien. I don’t want anyone else that I love getting hurt because of me, so I'll make sure there are no holes in whatever plan we make,” she reassures me, grabbing my hand and bringing it up to her lips.
“Also, maybe text Eddie. He has a few connections for some things we might need to get the upper hand when we are ready. Just trust me, he will know when you ask.” She grins up at me as she brushes soft kisses on my hand.
Sitting on the bed beside her, I gently pull her closer to me, trying not to hurt her as I wrap my arms around her, inhaling her scent. It’s still hard for me to think that I almost lost her. That we almost lost her.
“Don’t you ever do that shit again. Do you hear me? Fuck, you scared me. I thought I lost you for good, Babygirl,” I whisper against her skin.
“You don’t give me enough credit,” she chuckles.
“I’m harder to take down than that.” She pulls away and looks at me, tears forming in her eyes before she looks away.
She wears that brave mask around all of us, but I see right through it.
Although she denies it, I know she was afraid. Hell, she still might be.
Huffing out, I pull her to me again, putting my hand beneath her chin to tilt her up to look at me and smash my lips to hers.
I’m not wasting anymore time. This showed me how quickly someone you love, and who genuinely loves you back, can be taken from you at any moment.
All it takes is a split fucking second. So, I’ll make sure that, between me and my brothers, no more seconds with her are wasted.
We all fell in love with the same girl, and we’re going to show her just how much she means to us.
Nipping her bottom lip, she lets out a low moan, but I pull back just as she tries to deepen the kiss.
“Sorry, Babygirl, that will have to wait. You are way too banged up for me to bang you.” I raise a brow and chuckle. She lets out a frustrated huff and rolls her eyes. Always the brat.
Damien walks through the door, his face lights up when he looks at her, and you can almost see the tension roll off his shoulders. We can only go up from here, right?
“What’s got you in such a good mood?” he questions, looking at me as he walks towards Raven.
“Oh, you know, just having to turn down our girl. Apparently, she’s insatiable, even when she’s laid up in a damn hospital.” I let out a deep chuckle, but she cuts her eyes at me.
“Damn, Angel. You can’t be that needy already?
” He raises a brow at her and folds his arms over his chest. “Besides, you’re covered in bruises, and your body is healing.
We don’t wanna push you around too much.
I’d hate to cause another brain bleed,” he jokes, letting out a loud laugh.
I join in as she flips us both off. Huffing out, she lays back down on the bed.
“Ugh, fuck you guys. You both got jokes, huh? Go get Naomi if y’all are just going to tease,” she says in an annoyed tone.
“No can do, baby. We got plans to make. It’s time to start operation ‘Save Luis’ and get our revenge,” I say, and that perks her back up. Slowly sitting back up in the bed, she looks between me and Damien.
“Don’t be so quick to jump, I still have to make some calls.
How about I give y’all a minute, and I’ll walk out and do that,” I say before leaning down and kissing the top of her head, lingering there for a few extra seconds.
Every second. I’ll take every second with her. Just wanting to feel her; to smell her.
Walking out of the room, I pace up and down the hallway, wondering exactly what I say to him. What do I even ask for? For fuck’s sake. I pull my phone from my pocket and scroll down to Eddie’s name.
Me:
Hey. I need to get in touch with one of your contacts. I need to find an injectable for this fucker so we can drag out his death. Plus, with her wanting to go, I want to give her an advantage so she doesn’t hurt herself.
A few seconds later, my phone pings. Damn, that was quick.
Eddie:
Don’t worry, son. I’ll message my contact and give him your number. He’ll be in touch. Also, these guys are in New York. Take care of her, I know you will, but she’s like a daughter to me. And I need that fucker dead for this.
Me:
Thank you and Jesus fucking Christ, that’s a whole flight. They better be worth it. Oh, he will die for this, along with anyone else he’s associated with.
Eddie:
It’s worth it! When he asks you a color, say green.
Me:
I’m not even going to ask what that means. I trust you.
Green? What the hell? I slide my phone back into my pants and walk into the elevator, pushing the button for the parking garage.
I’m in need of something stronger than coffee.
The elevator doors open, and I walk out towards my truck.
Opening the door, I hop in the seat and dig through the console until I find the joint I always keep stashed there.
Lighting it, I lay my head against the headrest and take a deep pull, then exhale.
My phone vibrates, and I pull it from my jeans.
Looking down, I see it’s from an unknown number.
Hopefully, this is Eddie’s guy because I am tired of seeing ‘Unknown’ pop up on our phones.
Unknown:
An associate of mine said you were in need of something? How can I help?
Me:
Care to take a flight to Texas? I’d like to talk about this in person. Plus, I can’t leave my girl unprotected.
Unknown:
You’re lucky Eddie is a good friend and I have business I need to attend to in your area, otherwise you’d be shit out of luck. But yes. I’ll be there on the red eye. The color of the object is what is needed. ??
Me:
Green.
Unknown:
I like your style. I will text for details when I land. See you soon.
Putting the joint out, I get out of the truck and lock it behind me, and begin walking back inside so I can fill Damien in on the plan. Let’s get this show fucking started so I can get my brother back!
