26. Raven

Chapter twenty-six

Raven

Walking into Orpheus, Eddie and Naomi greet me at the door.

“Morning, bitch.” Naomi cheers, grabbing me and wrapping her arms around me for a hug.

“Morning, babe.” I mock back. I’ll never understand how people are so cheerful in the mornings, it’s gross. I can’t be cheery until noon, or later. Just depends on the day.

“Morning kiddo. Reyes.” Eddie greets us both, a smile plastered on his face. This man can pull a smile from anyone, even me on my darkest days. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I love him so much.

“Morning, old man. You ready to get started, I need to punch something or I’ll end up punching someone.” I joke, laughing as I skip off to the ring to start wrapping my hands.

Reyes and Eddie both climb through the ropes. Arching a brow, I look between them both.

“Reyes said you got another text, figured you’d have too much energy, so why not fight us both today? Let off some steam?” Eddie quips with a shit eating grin on his face. Their funeral. Shrugging, I get in position. Eddie comes at me first with a couple jabs, then a hook. Not paying any attention, Reyes comes up behind me and puts me in a chokehold.

“Come on Baby Girl. Don’t let me take you down. Unless maybe you want everyone here to see you being pinned down for a different reason?” He whispers low in my ear, nipping it as he pulls away. Feeling my face heat, I try to elbow him in the ribs. Expecting it, he manages to get away from my assault. Squeezing a little tighter and feeling my air being cut off, I let my body fall limp. Falling for it, his hold loosens and I turn, punching him right in the gut. Jutting my leg out and tripping him, he falls, I move quickly to straddle him. I lean down and get close to his face,

“How’s that for being pinned down?” I whisper, my voice full of lust and sarcasm. Rolling off him and standing up, Eddie is full on laughing.

“Damn kiddo, you are giving these guys a run for their money aren’t you?” He jokes and I begin laughing with him.

Huffing, Reyes stands up. “Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up. Payback will suck for you Baby Girl. And Eddie, don’t encourage her.” Reyes replies, his voice dripping with all the unsaid promises as he starts to laugh with us.

We keep at it for a few hours, before I call it quits.

“Okay you guys, I think that’s good. For fucks sake, I don’t know how y'all do it and you aren’t even out of breath. Can we please call it a day?” I plead. “Sure kiddo, see you next time? Keep me updated on the texts too. We’re still working on it on our end. Nothing we’ve pulled up has come back though. No one you have taken down has connections to anyone else either.” Eddie informs me, running his hands through his sweaty hair.

“What about Brock? What other family did he have?” I throw out, I didn’t know much about him but fuck, there’s got to be something.

“Hmm. I’m not sure. I’ll look into it. Other than him seeing your mother, did he ever tell you anything? Where he’s from? Or anything from his past?” He questions, I stand there and watch the wheels turn.

“Honestly, I don’t remember, they didn’t have conversations in front of me and I damn sure tried to avoid him.” I state, racking my brain for any memories.

“Don’t worry Baby Girl, we will look into him too.” Reyes says, wrapping his arm around my waist. Nodding, I give Eddie my two-finger salute and slip through the ropes to head out. Walking to my bag and grabbing it, I head for the door, but not before Eddie calls out though.

“Don’t stress, we will get it handled kiddo.” He states.

“I know we will. I’ll kill him myself.” I seethe, walking out the door and to Reyes’ truck.

Throwing my bag in the back and sliding in the passenger seat, Reyes gets in on the driver's side.

“Luis said he got all new cameras set up and programmed new codes for you to use. If you want to give them to Eddie or Naomi, you need to tell them in person and not over the phone. Just in case.” He states, pulling out of the parking lot.

“Umm, do I have dumbass written across my forehead? I thought about that already, ya know, in case my phone is bugged somehow.” I sass, he turns his head slightly and glares.

“Always with the fucking attitude, Little Devil.” He growls and I just laugh. My phone pings with a text. Looking down and seeing it’s Luis, I look over at Reyes. He just raises a brow in question.

Sunshine- Not bad news, but when you get home, I think it’s time me and Reyes tell you another secret. We never got to finish our secret swap and it’s time you knew this one.

Setting my anxiety all the way at one hundred, I reply back nervously.

Me- Ummm…. OK. Should I be worried? You can’t send shit like that. You know how hard it is to decipher something like that through a fucking text.

Sunshine- I promise Bella it’s nothing bad. Not for you. Just about our past.

Turning my body to face Reyes, I look at him for a second before he looks at me and questions.

“What is it?” He gives me a worried look.

“So you and your brother have something to share apparently? I’ll wait to hear it from both of you, but he sure knows how to get someone's anxiety going.” I state, never looking away from him. He looks at me again and tears start to well in his eye. Okay, what in the actual fuck is happening? Grabbing his hand and giving it a gentle squeeze, he laces his fingers through mine. Bringing my hand up to his mouth, he places a kiss on it and lets them rest in his lap.

“I guess we’re that serious now. If it’s the secret I think he wants to share, we’ve never told just anyone about this.” He raps out nervously, like he’s fighting back the tears of whatever I’m about to hear.

“Wait, we’re serious? You haven’t even asked me out properly. I’m hurt.” I joke, bringing my hands to my heart, trying to lighten the mood. That makes him let out a deep laugh, and I’d much rather see him laugh than on the verge of tears.

“You wanted to be asked out properly? Ohhh no, the minute you walked through the shop door, I knew I was going to make you mine. Whether you liked it or not, you didn’t ever have a choice. Sharing you with my brothers, well that’s just a luxury for them.” He chuckles, grabbing my hand again.

Pulling up to the gates, he pushes the call button and Luis’s voice comes through. Reyes lets him know it's us and in the next second, the gates are opening. Damn, now I have a whole intercom system. Sheesh he was busy today. Getting out, Reyes grabs our bags and we walk to the door. Walking into the kitchen, Luis and Damien are already sitting at the bar, alcohol in hand. Ahhh shit, it’s about to get real deep in this motherfucker.
