Chapter 10

CHAPTER 10

“W hy do you have a panic room?”

She sounded more curious than frightened. She walked the perimeter of the room. Talking it all in.

“It never hurts to be cautious.”

She nodded.

I skimmed through a few emails, but I couldn’t concentrate. All my senses were honed on her every move.

Rayna cut across the room, trailing her fingers along the carved edges of my mahogany desk. It had belonged to my father. She walked behind me and stopped at the credenza. I swiveled in my chair to watch her. She picked up a photo of me and my brothers.

Even with Chandler’s blonde hair and Randall’s scowl, you could tell we were brothers.

“You all have the same eyes.” She put the photo down and pick up another. “Are these your parents?” She held the photo up.

“Yes.”

“You all have your mom’s eyes.” She looked at the photo, as if memorizing it. “You have your dad’s face, though. Your father looks serious.”

“He was a stern man, too.”

“You’re not stern.” She pouted. “Firm, but not stern.”

“You haven’t seen me when I’m motivated.”

Her eyes grew wide. I tried to hide my amusement, but her reaction made me want her more. She was innocent, but so open and expressive. Maybe she wanted to see that side of me, too. I plucked the photo out of her hand and put it back.

She wandered back over to the floor to ceiling window and peered down.

“This,” she knocked on the glass and turned back to me. “Makes you kind of vulnerable. Someone could swoop in here Mission Impossible style and get you.”

I push a button behind the desk and the bullet proof shutters slide into place with a staccato rhythm.

“Yikes.” Rayna jumped back. “What was that?”

“See.” I opened the window back up. “By the time a laser cut through that, the calvary would have arrived.”

“Impressive.”

“You want to see something else cool?”

She nodded eagerly.

“Come over here.” I motion for her to join me behind the desk. She skips over and stands between my legs. I move to the left, and she hopped up on my lap.

We both stilled. She blinked and looked up at me.

She attempted to get up.

I placed my hand on her hip.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean . . .”

“You stay right where you are, Rayn Drop.” I patted the side of her ass and went back to showing her the desk.

“See this knob right here?”

She nodded.

“Turn it clockwise.”

She bit her lip and turned the knob. A secret drawer slides out and reveals a tablet. The tablet controls lit up. “This button re-enforces the door. This one is the windows.”

She hovered her hand over a button labeled escape hatch.

“Touch it.”

She did and gasped when the bookshelves to our left slid into itself and revealed stairs.

Rayna looked up at me and then back at the secret passage.

“Where does it lead?” She gripped the desk.

“To an elevator that takes you directly to a hidden floor where a car will be waiting to take you to safety.” I kissed her shoulder.

“This is so cool.” She bounced on my leg. “Something out of a spy movie.”

“I thought you’d like it.” I closed the bookshelves and sealed the room. “There is also a storage room full of supplies if you do get stuck in here.”

“I really am safe in here.” She blinked and looked up at me. She leaned up and kissed the spot below my ear at the edge of my beard.

“Very safe.”

She kissed me again. Her tongue snakes out and tastes my skin. A low growl escaped my throat before I could stop it.

She whispered something against my skin and giggled.

“What’s so funny, my little Rayn Drop?” She giggled again.

“You are a growly Daddy.” She whispered and grinned. She was precious and beautiful. I placed my hands on either side of her face and stared into her eyes. Her pale skin had a pink flush to it and her eyes glazed over and blinked. She had the cutes little puckered lips. I couldn’t resist her any longer. I had to feel those lips against mine.

I pressed my lips to hers. She squeaked in surprise and slid her hand around my neck. I pressed my lips firm to her mouth and slipped my tongue out to taste her. She tasted like ginger ale and mint. I kept one hand on her cheek and slid the other to her neck. She moaned and opened her mouth. I dove in and explored. When I pulled back, she whimpered softly.

“Don’t worry, little girl.” I whisper against her lips. “I’m not done with you yet.”

She groans.

My cock pressed against the zipper of my jeans. She was perched on one thigh, close to my hard member. I slide my hand down to her hip and held her tight against me. I wanted her to feel how she affected me.

She rocked against me. I groaned in her mouth as I continue to explore. Her soft ass rubbed up against me, but I couldn’t get close enough.

My hands slid under her knees and lifted her up onto my desk. Her legs fell open, and I stood between them. Sliding my hands up her thighs. She stared with curiosity. She tilted her head and licked her lips.

“Do you realize?” I lean in close to her, our lips millimeters apart. She leaned forward, and I pulled back and smiled. She pouted.

“Realize what?” Her voice came out softer and a bit childlike.

“How fucking sexy you are?”

Her eyes grew wide. I licked my lips. Her gaze fixated on my mouth.

She begged me to kiss her with a little nibble on her bottom lip. I wanted to kiss her, too, but not just on those pretty little lips.

My hands slid into her hair. I tilted her head back and ran my tongue along her jawline.

She whimpered, and it became my new favorite sound. Would she make those same sexy noises when I got her in my bed?

She arched her back and pressed her chest into me. Her hands moving down to grip my shirt. She forgot about the pain in her hand and pulled me close.

I tilted her head to gain access to those lips. Her hard nipples teased me through her thin tank top. Her hands slid under my shirt. The first touch of her fingers on my skin made me shiver.

She giggled and continued to run her fingers up and down my sides.

I was two seconds away from tearing her thin top from her body, but the fucking phone rang.

We both groaned as I plunged my tongue into her mouth. I cut the kiss off. She pouted in protest.

I search around behind her ass for my phone and jab at the answer button.

“What?”

Rayna trailed her fingers around my waist to my back.

“Ky.” It was Josh. I stilled her hands. “I need to talk to you.”

“Now?” I placed her hands on her lap.

“Yeah. Now.” He was on the casino floor by the sound of the bells and whistles coming through the phone. “Come down to Roths for a drink.”

“I don’t want to leave Rayna.” She cuddled into me. Her body fitting nicely. I cupped the back of her head and smelled her hair.

“I’ll come up.” He said.

Fuck. That wasn’t much better.

I looked at my watch. “Give me fifteen minutes.”

Rayna’s hand dropped to her side.

I felt her disappointment. I was disappointed, too.

“I’m sorry.” I kissed the top of her nose.

She sighed.

“It’s pretty late.” I stepped back and closed my eyes, willing my cock to forgive me and calm down. My hand gripped her side as she hopped off the desk. “It’s been a long day. Why don’t you head off to bed?”

“But I’m not tired.” She pouted but followed me. Her voice rose higher, followed by a yawn. “That doesn’t count. It’s a suggestive yawn.”

I chuckled and took her hand. We walked back into the living room and back down the hall to her room. I stopped outside her door.

“Aren’t you going to tuck me in?” She squeezed my hand and leaned her tits against my arm. Maybe the little minx wasn’t as innocent as I thought. “I thought you’d be too old to be tucked in.”

“Never too old for a good tuck.” She bit her lips. I plucked it from between her teeth. She kissed my fingers.

“Behave yourself Rayna.” I warned.

“Okay. I’ll go so you can be boss man, Daddy.” She turned but stopped and looked back at me. “But can I have a goodnight kiss? Pl?— “

My lips landed on hers, cutting her off.

I grip her shoulders and push her back against the wall, cupping the sides of her face. Her lips were soft, and her kisses gave me life, like they were the last ounce of oxygen on earth. She dug her fingers into my sides with both hands to steady herself. I caress her tongue and coax her to deepen the kiss. We made out like a couple of teenagers.

Knock. Knock.

It took everything in me to pull away.

I stepped back. She rubbed her legs together. I knew my little girl was wet and needy between those thighs.

She blinked as if woken up from a deep sleep. She sighed in frustration and settled back against the wall.

“You go on and get some sleep.” I kissed the side of her head. “We’ll talk more in the morning. Okay?”

She didn’t answer me.

I slouched down to look her in her eyes.

“Okay?” I asked.

“Okay.” She nodded. I kiss her cheek and open her door. As she turned to say goodbye, my breath caught in my chest. Pouty lips, swollen from our kisses. Her shirt wrinkled and falling off her shoulder, her shorts I knew were sopping wet. The image would be burned in my mind with honor as the sweetest and sexiest baby girl on earth. With every ounce of regret, I shut the door between us. I would jerk off to the sight of her for years to come.

I rubbed my beard. I could still smell her and taste her. I could still feel the way she trembled in my arms when I kissed her. I’d never felt anything like that before.

I was going to kill Josh.

* * *

I opened the door and headed back to my office. Not giving him a proper greeting. The asshole deserved it.

He followed. I punched in the code and grinned. 007 for ‘James Bond’ and 099 for ‘Get Smart’. My girl really did have a thing for spies.

My girl. It came easy, calling her my girl. She was so appealing in so many ways. Different from what I thought I wanted. I wouldn’t have guessed I had the temperament to handle a bratty pre-teen little, but I was having fun. Although she had yet to test me. Middles get spanked too, don’t they? I have to look into it.

I sat behind my desk. Josh sat in the chair to my right. He was my right-hand man and, although not officially my brother; I was closer to him than my own. We knew each other well.

I knew why he was here.

“How’s Rayna?” He asked.

“She’s good.” I nodded. “She’s a brave girl. Smart, too. She — “

“What are you doing with this girl?” He interrupted.

“What do you mean?” I opened my laptop to avoid looked at him.

“She was two seconds away from being sold for sex and you’re fucking her.” Josh wasn’t usually so blunt.

“I’m not fucking her.” I shut the laptop. “Jesus, she’s been under my roof for less than twenty-four hours.”

“But you like her.” He stood up and paced the length of my office. “I’ve seen you like this before, but not in a long time.”

“Yeah, I like her. What’s not to like about her?” I stood up. “She’s beautiful and intelligent and a bit of a brat?— “

“And na?ve, inexperienced, and completely out of her depth.” He raised his hands.

“When is naivety a negative trait?” I flopped back down. “We’ve seen woman from all backgrounds get suckered, fooled and flat out taken against their will. She is no different from them.”

“I didn’t mean because she got mixed up with Santorini.” Josh sat back down.

What kind of man did he think I was? Maybe he didn’t know me at all. Hell, he was the typically impulsive one. I was the calculated one, but we’d seemed to switch roles regarding Rayna.

My gut told me she belonged to me. My gut was never wrong.

“All I’m saying is slow down with her.” He looked off. “You don’t know anything about her. Just because she got taken advantage of doesn’t mean she’s not looking for an opportunity.”

“And, why can’t she be an innocent girl who needs our help?” I rubbed my beard. I could feel her little lips on my skin still. “And, in doing so, I get to know her.”

“And, in doing so, you’ll spoil her rotten and expose her to your world and when she ceases to be the center of your world for a minute, she moves on to someone else and leaves you alone and devastated.”

“She’s not Mindy.” I gripped the arms of my chair. Her name felt like poison on my tongue, but Josh loved her until she left.

“I know.” Josh sighed. “It’s not what I meant. Mindy was my issue, but she fooled us all. I’m just saying slow down with Rayna. Give her a place to stay. Keep her safe while we deal with the Santorini situation and once it’s over, then let her decide for herself.”

I slumped back and rubbed my beard.

Josh was usually right, and I fucking hated it.

He chuckled at my distress. I shook my head and stood up. “Okay, I’ll slow down.”

He nodded with a smug grin on his face.

“For now.”

His smile fell.

I head back out toward the living room to grab another drink. I had all the time in the world, but I had no doubt, Rayna was mine, and she wasn’t going anywhere.
