Chapter 49

RAZOR

When I wake the following morning, I love the fact Sunday is curled against me, her leg over mine, her arm pinning me down to the bed.

I take a moment to enjoy every second. Her breathing even, soft sighs of contentment slipping between her lips, the warmth of her body against mine, how smooth her skin is, like velvet.

She is long overdue an explanation from me. Why I pushed her away into the arms of a maniac. But not here. Not now. First, I must take my girl home.

“Razor.”

Her soft, sleepy voice brings me way too much pleasure, and I can’t stop smiling.

“Yes, darlin’.”

She opens one eye.

“You’re real.”

“You better believe it.”

She opens the other eye, and a huge smile is my reward.

“Morning.”

She appears almost shy, and I pull her close, tilting her sweet lips to mine and kiss her how she deserves to be kissed. How I will always kiss her and will never stop.

“I thought it was a dream.”

Her satisfied grin is addictive, and I love how happy she is.

“It’s real, darlin’ and no arguments, but you’re coming home with me, period.”

“I never could say no to you.”

She drops me a sexy wink and I groan.

“Now who’s being tortured?”

My balls are throbbing, but we are due to leave imminently, and so with a sigh, I huff, “We need to shower, change and meet the others; our ride out of here is soon.”

“I can’t wait.”

As Sunday heads to the shower, I make no secret of checking out her ass, and a deep sense of contentment settles inside me. She is back. We are back and the future is promising. I got my girl, and this time I will treat her so right, she will never want to leave.

* * *

We head downstairs and the others are wolfing down the breakfast provided, which is finer than any five-star hotel we could have reservations for.

Sunday is wearing the silver dress, and she pulls a face as she sits down to eat.

“I can’t wait to burn this dress.”

Ryder sighs. “I’m sorry, darlin’. We never thought to bring you a change of clothes.”

“To be honest, it’s fine.”

She shrugs. “I don’t blame the dress, just the psycho who chose it.”

My fist curls, and I blow out a breath because what happened to Santiago was out of my control.

He won’t be bothering her now, but it’s not the Reapers who made it happen.

I can never thank the Angels enough for their part in Sunday’s liberation, and yet there is nobody to thank.

We had one meeting with them, and then nothing.

Blade must have read my mind because he lowers his voice.

“I must admit I’m curious about this setup. What can you tell us?”

He directs his question to Ryder, who grins at Snake. There is a twinkle in their eyes as they share a private joke, it seems, and Ryder shrugs.

“That they are protective of their identities. They are good people, and this operation must remain a secret because nobody knows about it.”

“Silent assassins.” Blade grins. “I appreciate that.”

Ryder nods. “I respect their rules, and they respect ours. We work together for the same purpose within the boundaries. Their hospitality will be paid back one day when we can be of assistance, but until then we leave them with our grateful thanks and our assurances not to speak about what we have seen.”

“Not to the other Reapers?”

I must clarify that, and Ryder shrugs.

“That’s up to you, but sometimes it’s better to practice confidentiality if you expect it in return.”

He makes a valid point, and we are quiet as we finish our meal, and it isn’t long before Harrington heads toward us with a bright smile.

“I take it your visit was successful.”

Ryder nods. “It was. Thank you for your hospitality.”

He smiles at Sunday.

“If I may offer you a parting gift, Miss. Monroe.”

She is staring at him as if mesmerized and replies in a low voice, “That would be most kind.”

He snaps his fingers, and we turn when another man dressed all in white heads toward us, carrying a white box tied with a red ribbon.

“Compliments of Angel.”

He hands her the box and then turns back to Ryder.

“I expect you will be ready to leave in thirty minutes, as requested. Your bikes have been refueled, and the airfield alerted of your imminent arrival. Your flight is scheduled to leave in ninety minutes’ time. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.”

“You have been most kind.”

He smiles and then turns, following the white-livered servant along the path, and we turn to Sunday, who is holding the white box.

“Well, open it, darlin’.”

Creed raises his eyes as he leans forward, and Sunday grins.

As she unties the ribbon and opens the box, she laughs softly.

“Thank fuck for that.”

She pulls out a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt with ‘Angel’ emblazoned in glitter across the front of it in silver. There is a leather jacket as well as sneakers, and she laughs softly.

“When he mentioned the bikes, I was a little concerned that this dress would be inappropriate. I’m amazed they thought of that.”

Snake chuckles. “God, I love this club and I still don’t know who the fuck is a member of it.”

Ryder laughs along with the others, and Sunday turns to me, and her brilliant smile makes me fall in love with her on repeat every time she aims it at me.
