Camille

I’d been looking forward to seeing Ja ever since my cousin told me how fine he’d gotten.

I’d always had a crush on him but kept my distance because of my rival Syd.

I wasn’t confrontational but she was so taking her man would end up being nothing drama all through high school.

I had a scholarship to uphold so I stayed away.

Hearing about this pool party Trey was throwing gave me the opportunity I’d been longing for.

When it came to Ja, I craved his realness.

He didn’t sugarcoat a thing and he always made his business to speak to me.

I loved that about him. It didn’t matter who was around, if he saw me, he was speaking.

“Damn, did he invite enough people?” Bianca said, getting out of the car.

“Girl, Trey done had the juice since we were kids. What makes you think these niggas weren’t going to pop out this go round? You think he showed?”

“That nigga Trey and Ja are like light and shadow. You see one, you see the other. Why? You still like his ass, don’t you?”

“Mind your business B and let’s go party.”

We headed to the side gate where it seemed to be the most crowded and made our way through it. The party was already lit as fuck and Trey actually had people in the pool. I walked in with high expectations and so far, he was keeping up with them.

I smiled and waved to folk I knew from high school. The first person that turned their nose up though was none other than Syd. Her mad ass was going to stay mad because her nigga was up for grabs, and I knew I could bag him without doing too much of nothing.

Bianca and I brought our own weed and drank so we passed the table and kept it pushing until we were over at the gazebo.

Trey was sitting with his girl Ariel and a few of his homeboys.

I scanned the group looking for Ja and saw that he wasn’t in attendance yet.

I felt a little disappointed until Trey spoke up.

“He on the way sis. Fix your face.”

“Ain’t nobody looking for him boy. Ariel, get your man,” I said putting on a smile and requested a hug, which he honored.

“Y’all two ain’t going to ever stop fussing. How you been girl?” she asked.

“Good. This my last year of college so I’ll be back for good next year. I can’t wait.”

“I know you can’t. I’m proud of you Cami. We were about to get started with the shits, you trying to join?”

“Of course. I came to have a good time and that means getting tore up to the point I have to be escorted home. Bless the bottles.”

I passed our bottle of Patron around as she passed around their bottle of Dom. I trusted Trey and Ariel, but I refused to let anyone other than them hit my blunt or drink from my bottle. Bianca knew not to take her eyes off the bottle unless we were done. We didn’t play that shit.

We got started and an hour later, I was feeling good. The weed settled within me, and the liquor accompanied it. My body was floating at this point. My end goal was to be carried up out of here, but we just got started so I knew to slow down. The vibe was cool enough for me to relax.

“Where are the bathrooms at in the house Trey?” Bianca stood needing to go, and I wanted to tag along.

“Once you walk in, you’ll be in the kitchen. Go straight and then bust a left. It’s the first door on the right. If that’s occupied, there’s three upstairs. One in the master, and one down each hall.”

Nodding, we linked our arms together for support and made it inside automatically taking the stairs to go to the master bedroom.

We wanted privacy and that gave it to us.

We didn’t even have to check with one another on our decision.

We knew what the other preferred. Bianca was a project baby, but she had some class.

We locked the bedroom door and used it one after the other.

Once we were done, we explored a little bit.

I had to give it to Trey, he rented a nice place.

When Bianca told me what the theme was, I knew he was going to go all out.

He never disappoints when it comes to a party, and it never got out of hand.

It was like his party was the only party niggas knew how to act at.

We were joining everyone else seconds later. I was minding my business until B tapped me on my shoulder and pointed to the right of us. I looked over in that direction and smiled. Ja was finally here, and he looked damn good.

“I told you. Fine.”

She wasn’t lying. He’d always been a handsome man but Jesus the way his body elevated from the little one he carried around in high school.

His chest spread and was muscular and the six pack he sported looked like a washboard.

His chocolate skin matched the color of his eyes and those were always dreamy.

His thick brows, and full beard put him in a category by himself.

And those damn lips… he was the full package. I see why Syd was so attached.

He’d always been tall but damn it looked as if he’d grown a few inches as well. The print in his swim trunks wasn’t missed either. All the times he’d rubbed up against me came rushing back causing my kitty to purr.

I took a step in his direction and was quickly halted by Bianca pulling me back. Syd had approached him, and I rolled my eyes off impulse. I continued to watch their interaction and damn near laughed when I saw him dismiss her. He wasn’t fuckin’ with her and that made me happier than I already was.

“What you about to do? He done shut her all the way down.”

“Stay close cuz. You about to see.”

My smirk grew as I crept through the crowd and around the gazebo undetected.

I was able to surprise him and the way he looked at me, I knew I still had it.

When I specifically asked him about attachments, he let me know he was free and in the clear.

That brought a smile to my face I didn’t care to hide.

“What makes you think I want to give you anything Ja? Still got the big head I see.”

“I always had that among other things. That’s what attracted you to me the most, right?”

His hand dropped to the middle if his shorts and my eyes followed. Now that we were grown and could interact with each other the way we wanted, I wasn’t holding back.

“Not at all. It was your personality and the way you always cared for me. I felt safe with you.”

Our eyes locked and I saw the spark we held from when we were kids still there and alive. Ja knew he was my weakness and vice versa. However, we could play into it because we were both single.

“You were my lil baby, it was all about you even though I was with Syd. She couldn’t stand that shit either.”

“Mannnnn, I didn’t want the smoke because of my scholarship but I promise you I’m on a different type of time now. Keep her fifty feet away from me.”

“Is there a reason she’ll want to fight you now?” he asked with a devilish look.

“When I leave with her nigga, I’m sure she’s going to be thirty-eight hot. She’s going to want my head for sure.”

“You leaving with me, yeah?”

“Whenever you’re ready.”

His smile went from ear to ear, and I found myself giggling like a school. He was such a charmer and the way we were in school came rushing back as well. Ja was that one in a million man that was always down to earth and didn’t allow others or material things to justify how he was as a man.

“I just got here so give me some time to rock out. I’ll be all yours in a little bit.”

“Come dance with me then. You can still buss a move, right.”

“However you move, just know I can keep up.”

I stood, blushing off his remark. Grabbing his hand, I escorted him to the dance floor where we were surrounded by many.

I swayed my hips as he held on to them, gaining the attention of others.

Our bodies complimented one other’s and the way they moved in sync you would think we’d been together for quite some time.

I knew better than to think Syd would allow us to be the center of attention without her saying something.

Bianca was by my side with her boo thing Fab ready to handle a bitch if she had to.

When Syd approached us, she came deep with her flunkies behind her.

I laughed every time I saw they big grown ass following behind her. She was their NewNew.

“What the fuck is this, Ja? The bitch come back in town and you all up in her damn face.”

“Fifty feet Ja. I’m not playing with you,” I said continuously shaking my ass on his dick.

“I got you baby. Aye, what I just tell you Syd? I ain’t got nothing for you. Whatever me and Cami got going on ain’t none of your business. Don’t make a scene sweetheart.”

The way he put her in her place turned me the fuck on. I had a fire burning throughout my body and it couldn’t be tamed by anyone but Jasir. The crowd began to form, and I knew things were about to go left because Syd didn’t like to be embarrassed.

“Make a scene? Nigga you with the next bitch knowing damn well how we are. We broke up but nigga you still been beating down these walls, so what’s the difference. Now that she here you want to dismiss me.”

I didn’t give a fuck about what they had going on.

I was going home with that nigga tonight and there wasn’t a bitch ass thing she could do to stop that.

If I wanted this nigga to relocate and be with me, he would.

However, I knew what his mother meant to him.

Unlike her, I cared enough to let him do him and not change him.

“Ja.” I was growing tired of her and since the folk in attendance were waiting for something to pop off, I’d become aggravated with the situation.

He pulled me to the side of him and I wrapped my arms around his waist. I was playing in this hoe face because I knew I could. You could see the steam coming from her ears from how pissed she was. She couldn’t fuck with me on her worse day and that’s what she hated.

Her eyes trailed between both Ja and I before settling on me. I knew the more she looked at me the higher her anger rose. I didn’t care not one bit because Ja was up for grabs, and I called dibs on him.

I didn’t fight over niggas, but we all knew how special Ja was. He was well mannered, caring, respectful, and knew how to provide. He didn’t have the status of a millionaire, but he did what he had to, to make sure his family stayed straight. That was all you could ask for in a man.

“Move around Syd. This ain’t the time or place sweetie.”

I was only giving her advice, but she took it as a threat and lunged in my direction. I was grabbed up by Trey from behind and carried away. The one chance I had to fuck her up was snatched away that fast.

“Man hell no. You ain’t about to fight her delusional ass. Sit tight with Ariel,” he voiced before walking back over to Ja.

“I don’t know what the fuck you need to hear in order to move on but Cami getting this dick tonight, tomorrow, and so on.

I gave you whatever you wanted but that wasn’t enough so I’m going where I know for a fact I’ll be appreciated.

Even if she doesn’t lock a nigga down, it’ll be better than staying with your dumbass.

Stop calling my fuckin’ phone, coming by my house, and leave me the fuck alone. ”

Tears welled up in her eyes and I couldn’t help but laugh at her antics. She wanted this nigga to be wrapped around her finger like she thought she had him back in the day, but that time had come to an end.

“Ja, I’m ready to go,” I said taunting her.

He extended his hand behind him reaching for mine even though I was a little distance away. He never looked back at mem either. That turned the temperature up a notch and you could practically hear my pussy purring for him.

I headed in his direction and intertwined my hand with his. We then proceeded to walk out the gate but halted when we heard a commotion. I saw my cousin and Ariel throwing blows and I knew they were tearing Syd and her crew up. I tried to go back but Ja prevented me from doing so.

“I thought you was ready to go.”

“I am but that’s my family back there.”

“And we both know Bianca can handle all of them hoes by herself. Let’s go.”

I hesitated but eventually allowed him to lead the way out of the party. I was dressed in a two piece and didn’t need my business slipping out from beating a hoe down. We ended up in front of his old school and I chuckled at how nothing about him had changed.

“I see Gladys is still up and kicking. Damn she done came a long way.”

“This my baby man. My mama had no idea what she gave a nigga. Just wait until you see the inside.”

He opened the door for me, and I saw what he meant. Gladys was doing her big one. I took the passenger seat and admired the upgrade she had. He took the driver’s side and pulled off shortly after.

“Syd was lying about me fuckin’ her re—”

“I do not care Ja. Her feelings ain’t mine to protect so whatever y’all had going on isn’t my problem. I said I was going home with you and what am I doing?”

He smirked giving a glimpse of those pearly white and I felt a pulse between my thighs. I’d developed this bold aura since I went away to college and now that I was back, I wasn’t stepping down from shit. Ja was mine.

“You got that. My mama gon’ be happy to see you. That’s if she’s still up.”

“Yeah, we not going back to your mama house. I wouldn’t ever disrespect her like that. Stop by the crib, grab me some sweats and a t-shirt, and grab you something as well. We getting a room.”

“She don’t mind Cami.”

“I want to scream with no restrictions. Get the room Ja.”

Nodding, he did as I instructed, and we pulled up at the Marriot thirty minutes later. I still had my weed on me, so we were good in that department as well. I was ready to vibe out with him and see if the mesmerizing thoughts I had were there for a reason or not.
