Chapter Eighteen
Rebel
“I can tell that you’re awake.” My voice broke through the silence in the bedroom. Finally. The damn woman had tossed and turned for the past hour, which made it impossible to fall asleep after the longest, most satisfying night of my life. Every time she readjusted in bed, her lush ass brushed against my cock and woke him up with no relief in sight.
“Sorry,” she muttered and put an inch of space between us, close enough that we still shared heat, but just far enough that we didn’t touch.
“Don’t apologize to me, Nikki. Just tell me what’s wrong.” I knew what she would say before she even opened her mouth, but I lay there, patient as my fingers crawled up her hip.
“It’s nothing,” she finally answered. “I’ll make it up to you, for keeping you awake, I mean.” She sat up straight and her gaze raked over my body.
It took no time at all before my cock responded to her heated look. I knew what she was doing, and I would let her. For now. My vision blurred when she gripped my cock in both of her hands, stroking up and down. And when she lowered her mouth to me, flicking her tongue over the drops that dotted the head of my cock, I groaned and pushed my hips up. “Nikki.”
She smiled around me, her eyes remained on me as she took my cock deep enough that she was able to flick her tongue out against my balls. She moaned and her eyes fluttered shut and I wished for longer arms so I could reach around and see how wet she was. She moaned again and choked herself on my size.
“Fuck, Nikki. Baby.”
She was on a mission, and it was to make me forget whatever was going on in that pretty little head of hers. She looked up at me again and took me deeper, over and over, her tongue and lips hot and slick as they covered my cock. She moved faster, took me deeper and then swallowed around me.
“Nikki!” I warned her but it was too late, she sucked me perfectly and the minute I exploded she swallowed down all of me.
Again.
Fucking again.
Nikki smiled at me, kissed the spot right over my heart and then curled up against my side and pretended to sleep.
What the actual fuck?
I let her pretend, because my mind wandered to what could possibly be bothering her. Sure, the Blood Fangs MC were a constant threat, but I didn’t think that’s what the issue was. Did she really forgive me or was she just telling me what she thought I wanted to hear? Has she given me forgiveness because I was protecting her? Or was it because I was injured?
Fuck, I hated this shit.
I couldn’t figure out what the problem was and that made sleep impossible. I was half tempted to wake her up and demand she tell me what the problem was just so I could stop worrying about it. Between keeping Nikki and Livvy safe, and dealing with the Blood Fangs, I couldn’t afford to be distracted. Unless Nikki was the distraction. I slid closer and buried my face in her hair with a soft groan and tried to fall asleep.
***
I’d been lying like that for ten minutes or so, when a small knock sounded on the door, and I looked up and froze. My gaze slid to Nikki who must’ve actually fallen asleep because she didn’t stir, not when I nudged her with my arm, and not when I tried to kiss her shoulder to wake her up. “Mama, I’m thirsty!”
Shit. Livvy was awake. Okay, don’t freak the fuck out. “Nikki,” I whispered.
She didn’t move and her breathing didn’t change.
“Mama, I can get it for myself!” Livvy sounded far too energetic considering the sun was barely lighting up the sky.
I grunted at her enthusiasm and sat up. I knew Nikki wouldn’t want me to make my presence known to Livvy, but I also knew she’d be pissed off if Livvy hurt herself trying to get a drink. I stood slowly and scrubbed both hands down my face before I spotted my jeans on the floor near the door. I stepped into each leg, fastened them and let out a heavy sigh. I opened the door, and I couldn’t help but smile at the sight of her with crooked pigtails and one leg of her pajamas over her knee.
“Mr. Rebel! What are you doing here?” the little girl lacked an inside voice, and I closed the door as I stepped into the hall.
Instead of answering, I scooped her up in my arms and grinned. “Rumor has it that someone out here is thirsty.”
“Me!” Her smiling face still showed lines from her pillow. “Did you and Mommy have a sleepover?”
Shit, how the fuck was I supposed to answer that? “Yeah. I came by to check on you girls and then I fell asleep.”
“Mommy’s bed is really soft and nice, isn’t it?”
“Cold water or room temperature?” I asked the question as I sat her on a chair, hoping she didn’t notice that I never answered her question.
“Cold is the best!” I bit back a smile and grabbed a plastic cup to fill with water. “Is it too early for breakfast?”
Hell if I knew. I rarely ate breakfast and when I did it was usually at some overnight diner when we were on the road. “Are you hungry?”
Livvy looked up at me with big, pleading green eyes and smiled bright. She nodded slowly, to sell her lie.
I knew I was being played, and I didn’t even care. “How hungry are you?”
“I could eat a whole stack of pancakes.”
I barked out a laugh at her blatant manipulation. “Sounds good but you have to help.”
She let out a shocked gasp. “I get to help?”
I stared at the cabinet and groaned. I knew shit about making pancakes. “How about French toast?”
Somehow Livvy was even more excited about dunking the bread in the milk and egg mixture than she was about whisking pancake batter. After we’d finished making the French toast, she turned to me with a grin and said, “I’m dirty,” like it was a badge of honor.
“Come on, let’s get cleaned up so we can eat.”
That was how Nikki found us sometime later when she rushed down the stairs in nothing but a short robe that showed off miles and miles of her beautiful legs. “Um, hey. What’s going on here?”
“Mornin’ Mommy! Me and Mr. Rebel made French toast and it’s soooo good.” She held up her syrup stained fingers with an equally syrup stained smile. “Real good Mommy.”
Nikki pinched her lips together to stop her smile. “That’s good, huh?”
I nodded slowly and pushed the stack towards the empty place setting. “Better get some before they’re all gone,” I teased.
Her expression was unreadable, but I’d seen that expression enough on my own mom to recognize a pissed off woman when I saw one. “I think I will.”
Bless that adorable little distraction.
At least until she finished her breakfast and went off on her next adventure, leaving me alone with Nikki.
