Reborn as the Fake Daughter

Reborn as the Fake Daughter

By Evelyn Hartwell

Prologue — I Died Once

After I learned I was the fake daughter, I threw a fit and forced myself to act “above it all.”

I gave my childhood sweetheart to the true daughter, walked out of the Xue residence in plain white, and married a penniless scholar.

I thought I could support him with my own hands—help him study, sit the civil exams, and one day return in glory.

Instead, he failed again and again… then picked up a gambling addiction and tried to drag me off to be pawned and sold.

On the road, I ran right into the true daughter’s wedding to my childhood sweetheart: a ten-li red dowry procession, admired by everyone.

In despair, I tore myself free and threw myself into the water.

My body was dumped carelessly into a mass grave.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day the truth came out.

My childhood sweetheart blocked my way, his face full of disapproval:

“Even if you aren’t the Xue family’s daughter, I’m still willing to marry you. Stop making a scene, alright?”
