Chapter 3 — The Perfect Sister
My parents wanted to smooth the scandal as quickly as possible.
Shang Zhiyuan wanted the marriage settled before anything could change.
And I wasn’t interested in “being considerate.”
In front of everyone, I spoke with a polite smile that left no room for retreat.
“My identity is awkward now,” I said softly. “If possible, I’d like to marry sooner rather than later—so my sister won’t feel uncomfortable seeing me at home.”
The room’s expressions turned colorful all at once.
Some were shocked.
Some were delighted.
Some looked down on me, as if I were calculating.
Xue Zhenzhen’s face went pale.
Shang Zhiyuan stepped forward, as if afraid I might change my mind.
“I’m willing,” he said quickly. “I’ve always been willing.”
I met his eyes and smiled.
“Then I’ll marry you,” I said. “No regrets.”
