Chapter 10 — The Truth She Screamed

Xue Zhenzhen kept lashing out, punching and kicking Lin Xiangsheng.

Lin Xiangsheng finally snapped and cursed back.

“Crazy bitch—what are you doing?!”

He reached to restrain her.

Xue Zhenzhen’s eyes went sharp, almost savage.

“You dare touch me?!”

She yanked a gold hairpin from her hair.

When Lin Xiangsheng lunged, she drove it into his chest.

Again.

Again.

Blood splattered across her cheek, making her already twisted expression look even more terrifying.

Everything happened too fast.

Lin Xiangsheng collapsed heavily to the floor.

Xue Zhenzhen looked as if she had lost all reason. She gripped the bloody hairpin and ran straight at me, eyes blazing.

“Xue Huanning—it’s all because of you!”

“I already succeeded once! I stole everything from you! I was the female lead!”

“So why—why didn’t Shang Zhiyuan love me?! Why did everything restart?! Why?!”

“Bitch—die!”

Her hatred was so fierce it made the air turn cold.

In a flash, Shang Zhiyuan kicked her hard, sending her flying.

She coughed up blood, tried to crawl up again, and was pinned down by servants who had finally reacted.

“Why?!” she screamed, glaring at Shang Zhiyuan with frantic obsession.

“Why are you protecting her?! Shang Zhiyuan—I'm the one you’re supposed to love!”

“I created you!” she howled. “I gave you talent, I gave you everything people worship you for! I came into this world—I took you—so you should love me!”

“I stayed with you my whole life—so why, before you died, did you still call her name?!”

Her words hit me like thunder.

Create a world.

Supporting characters.

Readers…

One word after another exploded in my mind.

And in a dizzy blur, I saw it.

This world had once been a novel about a swapped-at-birth “fake daughter” and “true daughter.”

In the story, I—the fake daughter—left the Xue family after the truth came out, yet somehow received everyone’s favor.

I even softened the true daughter’s resentment.

In the end, I married my childhood sweetheart, Shang Zhiyuan, and lived happily.

And Xue Zhenzhen…

Xue Zhenzhen was the author of that book.

After she died in her own world, she was given a chance to enter the book and live again.

She thought she would transmigrate into the female lead—into me.

But she opened her eyes as Xue Zhenzhen, the true daughter.

Jealousy destroyed her.

So she changed the plot.

She used provocation to push me into leaving the Xue family.

She arranged for me to marry Lin Xiangsheng.

She even had people lure Lin Xiangsheng into gambling—step by step, grinding me into the dirt.

In my last life, she succeeded.

I died.

And she married the “perfect male lead” she had created: Shang Zhiyuan.

But after the wedding, she didn’t get the happiness she imagined.

Shang Zhiyuan didn’t love her. He was cold to her.

And when he learned I had died—died on the very day of their grand wedding—he fell into despair.

He chose to renounce the world.

In that life, he became a monk.
