Chapter 1 The Dress Confrontation

I was reborn two days before my wedding to Gu Cheng.

I immediately went to town and bought a train ticket for early the next morning to the south.

In my previous life, Gu Cheng had faked his death before the wedding. He secretly took his female classmate to live freely in the south.

He left the huge debt and his brother and sister to me.

This life, I would run away before him and see how he handled it.

When I rushed home, laughter came from inside the house.

It was Gu Cheng and his female classmate Zhu Xiuqin.

Zhu Xiuqin was wearing the red dress I had prepared for the wedding. She twirled like a colorful butterfly.

Gu Cheng watched her with a smile.

Gu Cheng looked handsome and clean. Zhu Xiuqin looked delicate and pretty as she twirled.

My entrance broke the ambiguous atmosphere.

Zhu Xiuqin's body shrank. "I just wanted to try on the bride's dress. I never wore one when I got married. My in-laws, you all know..."

She covered her face and sobbed.

Gu Cheng said they were classmates and she was pitiful now, so he wanted to help her. He often brought her home for meals. The two were always together.

Although I was unhappy, because I liked Gu Cheng, I could only suppress my grievance and unwillingness.

Gradually, she could freely wear my clothes and rummage through my things at my house.

Now I no longer needed to endure it.

I walked toward her and said coldly, "Take off the dress."

Gu Cheng frowned and stood in front of her.

"Song Xiaoya, let Zhu Xiuqin borrow it for two days. You won't wear it until the day after tomorrow anyway."

Gu Cheng's words lacked confidence. It seemed he had already planned to fake his death before the wedding.

I smiled bitterly and reached to pull the dress off Zhu Xiuqin.

She screamed sharply and hid behind Gu Cheng.

Gu Cheng instinctively pushed me. My body hit the table and knocked over the tea set and bowls and dishes I had bought for the new marriage.

They shattered instantly. My wedding expectations shattered with them.

Gu Cheng's face showed panic. He wanted to help me up, but the neighbors arrived faster to watch the excitement.

In the countryside, doors were not closed during the day.

I grabbed the scissors and pointed them at my own neck, looking miserable.

"Gu Cheng, you brought another woman to my house, and she's wearing my wedding dress. How can you trample on me like this? How can I have the face to live on?"

I was not really trying to hurt myself. I was just paving the way for my fake death tomorrow.

I hoped that by driving me to death, the village would curse Gu Cheng and spit at him when the time came.

In my previous life, Gu Cheng had faked drowning.

He died the day before our wedding. The villagers gossiped behind my back that I had jinxed my husband, calling me a jinx.

I also thought I had caused Gu Cheng's death and felt both sad and guilty.

Later, Brother Ma, who lent money in the village, brought the huge IOU signed by Gu Cheng and forced me to repay the debt.

I worked hard for over ten years to pay off that debt.

At the same time, I had to raise Gu Cheng's brother and sister. Before I turned fifty, I was worn out with illnesses.

On my deathbed, Gu Cheng, who had been dead for many years, returned to the village with Zhu Xiuqin and their child, looking glamorous.

He looked at me coldly as I lingered on.

"You secretly took the title of my wife, but you also raised my brother and sister. We're even now."
