Chapter 6 Banquet Assassination

I saw Zhang Ruhua at the banquet.

She sat gracefully beside Zhao Yan.

Her demeanor already carried the poise of a future crown princess.

I sat across from them, watching them together.

It reminded me of the loving emperor and empress from my previous life.

Halfway through the banquet, I picked up my wine cup and walked toward them.

"Your Highness."

Zhao Yan focused on the dance performance and ignored me.

I called again.

He finally turned his gaze.

"What is it?"

I stated my purpose.

He said, "Today is the birthday of This Prince's future father-in-law. This Prince does not want to deal with such matters."

"Come find This Prince another day."

I took a deep breath, about to speak again.

But an arrow shot from mid-air.

Zhao Yan narrowed his eyes and instinctively reached out, trying to pull me.

I noticed his movement and quickly dodged.

I also pushed Zhang Ruhua beside him.

Zhang Ruhua escaped unharmed.

But I, unable to dodge in time, took the arrow in my shoulder.

The assassin must have targeted Zhao Yan. Missing once, they fled immediately.

I collapsed to the ground.

Zhao Yan looked down at me, then let out a cold laugh.

"You are truly loyal to This Prince."

"You would rather get injured yourself to save This Prince's future crown princess."

I endured the pain and said.

"This is what this subject should do."

I thought he had lost his mind.

Under everyone's eyes, ignoring his own crown princess to save me.

Had he not considered what he would face if word spread?

In the next moment, Zhao Yan sent people to pursue the assassin while taking out the jade token from his waist.

He handed it to the nearby guard.

"Go to the imperial hospital and summon all the physicians."

I was startled.

"No."

Zhao Yan lowered his gaze and said coldly, "You are injured like this, and still pretending to be strong?"

"Or do you want This Prince to tend to your wound personally?"
