Chapter 16 Wedding Day Chaos

The next morning I put on full makeup and attended Shen Ba's wedding to an unknown runaway bride.

Shen Ba was a tall, muscular man around one hundred and eighty-five centimeters.

His suit looked ready to burst. He looked like a Western male model.

The first thing he said to me was,

"Thank you, Miss Lin. Shen will never forget your help today."

I raised an eyebrow.

The sicko was surprisingly polite.

What surprised me more was what happened next.

While I stood on stage in a wedding dress, exchanging rings with Shen Ba, fifty-year-old Ji Shijing cried loudly in the audience.

He sobbed to Si Han, barely able to catch his breath.

"She was fine yesterday. How did she suddenly get married? How can I bear this... Wuwuwu."

"Wife, will our daughter suffer? I raised her with so much care. If any man dares treat her badly, I will break his legs even if it costs me my old bones."

"Wuwuwu, wife, are sicko men really that twisted? Can little Yi fight him?"

Si Han grabbed Ji Shijing's ear and twisted hard.

"You are addicted to being her father, aren't you?"

Ji Shijing kept crying, still unwilling to accept reality.

"But we raised her with our own hands..."

Si Han simply closed her eyes and pretended to rest.

Shen Ba glanced at Ji Shijing with a cold snort.

"I never expected the once-dominant CEO Ji to be afraid of both his wife and his daughter at home."

While I removed the huge diamond ring from my finger, planning to sell it later, I smiled at Shen Ba.

"CEO Ji, please settle the acting fee."

Shen Ba chuckled and leaned down.

His nose brushed mine. His breath was hot on my face.

He slipped a small card onto my chest.

Two lines were written on it in flamboyant script.

"Miss Lin."

"If you love me, love me deeply. If not, leave."

"Talk money? Do you really love me?"

I froze.

This was not a sicko. This was some edgy internet troll.

And a cheap one at that.

I forced tears into my eyes and spoke to Shen Ba.

"Sorry, my dad said someone like you cannot be trusted. We are only pretending. The money must be paid."

Shen Ba grew angry. He pulled a black card from his suit pocket and slapped it into my hand.

"Where is your dad?"

I wiped away nonexistent tears and quickly pocketed the card.

Then I pointed at Ji Shijing, who stood out in the crowd.

Ji Shijing thought Shen Ba had made me cry. He stood up in fury, ready to charge forward.

"Shen Ba, you little bastard! How dare you bully my daughter? I will end you!"

Si Han tried to stop him but failed.

Shen Ba had been looking for Ji Shijing. He shrugged off his suit jacket, revealing his muscles, and stormed toward him with a fierce expression.

The officiant and guests scrambled in panic.

I could not bear it any longer. I grabbed Si Han's hand and shouted,

"Security! Where is security? The son-in-law and father-in-law are fighting!"

"Security!"
