Chapter 41

God her head hurt.

And why was it so noisy? And bouncy?

She woke up, staring around. She couldn’t understand where she was. What was going on?

Why had she fallen asleep on something so hard?

Shit. Fuck.

Panic filled her. She was in a plane. But not a normal plane. It looked like she was in a cargo area. There were crates of stuff around her and she was on her own.

Wait . . . no she wasn’t. There was a set of feet.

Who was that?

A sob escaped her as she managed to shift herself around a crate to see Tyler lying there. He looked so pale and there was blood on his forehead.

What the hell had happened?

What was going on?

Bile rose and she choked it back, not wanting to vomit. That would just add to the delightful smells. God, it was awful in here.

Her mind raced as she tried to remember.

Oliver. Oh, God. She’d gone to a meeting with Oliver and there had been men there.

Men who had kidnapped her and Tyler.

Men who obviously worked for Aadan.

But why? Why take her now?

And why take Tyler too?

Was Oliver okay?

Tyler groaned. Her heart raced. She was going to have to try and keep him alive. It was her fault he’d been taken.

God.

Why had she gone to that meeting? Why hadn’t she told Oliver that she couldn’t go anywhere?

How was she going to get the two of them out alive?

Tyler moaned again and sat up. Then he spotted her. Finally, he glanced around. He grasped hold of his head. “Fuck. We’re in fucking trouble here, aren’t we?”

“We really are. Those were Aadan’s men. I don’t know where they’re taking us or how long we’ve been unconscious.”

She was guessing quite a while considering the state of her bladder and her stomach. Not to mention how thirsty she was.

If she didn’t get to pee soon . . . well, it paid not to think about that.

“The last thing I remember is that guy behind your agent aiming his gun at me. But I was obviously knocked out and I’m guessing drugged.”

“Yeah, that’s what I’m guessing too,” she said as the plane started to slow. Shit. Seemed they were going to make a descent. “Just . . . whatever you do, follow my lead, okay? I don’t know why they took you but I’m going to do my best to keep you alive.”

“To keep us both alive,” he said. “And it’s my job to take care of you.”

Yeah, but in this scenario she thought that she was the safest one of the two of them.

Unless Aadan had brought her here to kill her.

That was also a possibility.
