Chapter 7 #2
What do you call the vampire that you’re supposed to want dead that ends up being your mate?
What a weird word to use.
Mate.
Buddy. Pal. Hey friends, this is Flynn, my pal, we fuck almost every day, and he likes to tie me up and spank me until I get bruised and beg him to make me come.
I’m actually going insane.
I lie on the bed after taking my dress off and Teresa gets to work.
And all I can think of is how upset I am with him.
Even if the massage is, well, very fucking nice.
“You’re so muscular and yet so tense, we’re going to be here a while.”
I groan. “Don’t remind me of how tense I am, I’m pissed at the person I live with at the moment.”
This gets a snort from the woman who is forcefully trying to unknot my entire body it seems.
My phone goes off and I pick up on the first ring. “Is Flynn my boyfriend?”
“And you’re asking me? You two are like on another level, Tal,” Cassandra says on the other side of the call.
“What are you doing awake at two in the morning?” I’m happy to hear from her but the eight hours difference is brutal.
“I kinda was hoping you and Flynn could help me with something.”
“Well, our pal isn’t with me right now,” I reply, and I know she can hear the sarcasm in my voice.
“Oh oh.”
“He decided to leave me alone this morning to go do something I’m not allowed to know, and he didn’t even tell me where he was going.”
“Okay?”
“I turned into my worst nightmare, didn’t I? I’m the girl that needs to know where her man always is.”
“Tal, I’m sure it’s nothing serious.”
“Oh I know it isn’t. Yet, I’m livid cause he could have simply told me where he was going and I would have been totally fine.”
“Do you know when he’ll be back?”
“He said a couple of hours.”
“Okay, so maybe he went to get you something.”
“Stop being logical with me, I’m pissed.”
“Okay, yes, amazing. Let’s be pissed at the vampire that literally kisses the floor you walk on.”
“That’s the point.”
“Excuse me?”
“He’s too perfect.”
“Tal, he’s your mate, of course he’s perfect for you, he was literally made to be with you.”
“Doubtful.”
She snorts. “Okay, can I get vampire hunter Talulla on the phone for a second?”
I sigh. “Yeah, shoot.”
“I need you to get me a file.”
“Cryptic. Might need a little more info.”
“It’s in a highly secured building where Flynn actually can’t really walk in because it’s literally vampire-proof. And witch-proof too I think. At least that’s what I’ve been told.”
“Finally something fun.” Should I be this excited about the possibility of ending up in a place filled with supernatural creatures? Probably not, but I guess I’m too used to being in this world, and letting it go is, well, difficult.
“You’re the only person that could walk in…you or Kaden, but well, he’s not in London.”
“So is this a pack house?”
“Something like that.”
“Okay, spill it.”
“It’s the headquarters of S.P.I.A, which well, you probably haven’t heard of before, I haven’t either, but they’re a secret agency that deals with supernatural matters all around the world. There’s an office here too.”
“Like the CIA but for supernatural creatures?”
“Yup. Pretty much. Secret Paranormal Intelligence Agency. And they’re mostly werewolves, this is why the building is vampire-proof.”
“Well, that’s a little targeted.”
“I think it’s just an extra level of protection.”
“What do you need from them? Are they waiting for me?”
She sighs. “This is where you and Flynn come in…”
“Oh shit.”
“I need you to do it the Talulla way. They sorta rejected all of my requests for you to visit the facility.”
“Cass, I can’t ask Flynn to make me break in.”
“I know I know, but this could potentially be very important.”
But I can go in no problem. Cassandra and Asmodeus literally gave me every possible potion I could possibly need on any occasion, including the invisibility potion we used in the past. “You owe me big time.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive. What am I looking for?”
“Anything with the word ‘amber’ in it.”
“That’s all I’m going with? Cass, I need more.”
“You know the code that the police use for missing children?”
“Yeah, amber alert.”
“There are missing children in Palo Alto, and the police are coming out empty-handed, and I just know it’s a supernatural matter.”
“How many?”
“Five that we know of.”
“Holy fuck.”
“Yeah. And well, I kinda sent Kaden to the quarters here, but they had nothing so I thought maybe something major would be stored in the head office—”
“I’m on it.”
“Thank you, Tal, this is…thank you.”
“Flynn is out for a few hours anyway, I’ll do it right away, and if I don’t get back to you in the next two hours, you call him for backup.”
“Tal, no, wait for him, please, this is potentially really dangerous.”
“So that he can tell me not to do it? I’m going in now.”
She remains silent for a couple of seconds before asking, “Maybe you should text him?”
“He left without telling me where he went. I can go out on my own as well. I’m my own person. And he also can’t really do anything, you said it yourself.”
“Ah so we’re in angry mode.”
“Yes, we are…because apparently I’m moody today.”
“You’re angry because he probably is doing something super nice for you and you just can’t accept the fact that someone might love you and wants to surprise you.”
“I don’t have time for a therapy session. Send me the address of this damn building, and maybe a map? Do you have anything on the structure of this place?”
“I do.”
“Perfect.”
“I know you know how to break into a highly secured building, but still, be careful.”
“Always am, babe.”
“Take the invisibility potion when you get to the building, you got half an hour after that.”
I nod even if I know she can’t see me. “I know the drill.”
