Chapter Seven

Callum

I chuckled when Brodie adjusted his sleeping position again.

Several times throughout the night, he rolled or shifted around into the strangest positions; sideways, upside down, in a ball, with his head covered, all without waking.

I wondered if he always slept like that or if his body was exploring the size of the bed; something told me that Brodie didn't have much room to rest at his father's house.

His constant moving didn't bother me; I only needed about two hours of sleep to be completely rested, and spent the rest of the night watching him twist his body into interesting shapes.

It was adorable; especially since no matter what position he ended up in, he reached out for me in his sleep.

His hand patted around until it touched me or I covered it with my own, and then he settled down.

He instinctively needed me at his most vulnerable time.

I loved him so damn much. Fate couldn't have chosen a better man for me; he was sweet and kind, and saw the good in the world even when he'd only been treated poorly.

My body burned with the desire to bond with him and give him an everlasting life filled with only happiness.

I already made the plan to speak with Brodie about everything later in the day.

I didn't like keeping anything from him.

I was already blessed with his love, and I prayed I'd have his acceptance.

A soft knock on the front door drew my attention away from my sleeping beauty.

I hated to leave Brodie, but I knew it could be a coven member in need, so I carefully climbed out of bed without waking him.

I stepped into a pair of cotton shorts from my dresser and tossed my hair up into a bun before answering the knock.

“Good morning,” Lachlan greeted when I pulled the door open.

He smirked as he looked over my casual appearance.

“And I take it that you had a good night as well?” Normally by this time I would be dressed and ready for the day, and already out on the town checking in with my coven members, but my Brodie was sleeping late.

“I did,” I replied with a smile.

“Does this mean that Brodie knows of our people now?”

“I told him about our history, but not our identity. I’m going to speak with him tonight after our date.”

“Good; you don't want to put this off. Where are you taking him today?”

“I’m going to-” I paused when I heard a shuffle from the bedroom. “It sounds like he’s awake.”

A sleepy, “Callum?” sounded from down the hall. Before I could answer, my love called for me again, sounding distressed. When he ran into the hall, I felt his panic and saw it on his face.

“I’m here, m’anam.” I stretched out my arm and Brodie hustled to snuggle into my side. I kissed the top of his head and inhaled his scent into my lungs.

“I woke up and you were gone,” he explained as his embarrassment permeated the air.

“I’m sorry, Brodie.” I squeezed him tighter; he had nothing to be ashamed of. It meant the world to me that he missed and needed me, but I hated that my leaving caused him worry. “I didn’t want to wake you.”

“I’m afraid it’s my fault,” Lachlan offered. “I stopped by and got him out of bed. But I hope this makes up for it.” He held a bag in one hand and a drink carrier in the other. “I brought you breakfast.”

“You did?” Brodie left my embrace to step closer to the goodies Lachlan held.

Now that I wasn't worried about Brodie's anxiety, I took the opportunity to get a good look at him; he was sinfully sweet, dressed only in my sweater from yesterday, which rested halfway down his thighs.

Lachlan gave me a look of discomfort, probably scenting my arousal.

I merely shrugged; I couldn't help myself around Brodie.

"What did you bring us?" my mate asked.

Lach shook his head and turned his attention back to Brodie. "Raspberry buns." He lifted one from the sack and gave it to my wide-eyed mate. " And …" He passed over one of the foam cups. "Hot chocolate."

"My favorite!" Brodie took a long swig of his drink. "Thank you, Lachlan."

"Yes, thank you,” I replied. “Will you be joining us?"

"Not today; I better get back to the bakery."

"Do you ever take a day off?" Brodie asked around a bite of breakfast.

"Naw. I enjoy the work and talking with everyone."

"You could take a sick day and come talk to us if you ever need a break from baking," my sweet mate suggested, and Lachlan smiled at him.

"I'll remember that. Thank you, Brodie." He handed the rest of the food to me. "Enjoy. I'll catch up with you guys later."

He turned for the door, but stopped when Brodie said, "Hey, Lach?

" Lachlan faced my mate again. "I'm glad you're my friend.

" My heart soared; Brodie was realizing that he had people who cared about him, and that he was worthy of friendship.

"Not just because of the food," he insisted. "You're a very nice man."

Lach gave Brodie the same adoring grin I was sure he'd seen from me dozens of times.

"C'mere, you." He cupped my mate around the back of the head and pulled him into a hug.

"I'm glad we're friends too, and that you and Callum found each other.

" He winked at me and let Brodie loose. "You're blessed, Cal. Good luck tonight."

"Thank you."

With a wave, Lachlan left Brodie and me alone again. I appreciated my friend checking in on us and being so kind to my mate, even if his visit was born out of curiosity.

"Would you like to sit down at the table with me?"

"Sure." He followed me into the kitchen and took a seat across from me at the dining table.

I couldn't take my eyes off Brodie as he ate; he let out quiet moans of pleasure at the flavor and ran the tip of his tongue over his lips.

He wasn't trying to be sexy; he was just enjoying his breakfast, but I was hard as stone beneath the table.

I nearly came in my shorts when he licked his fingers clean.

"Are you not hungry?" he asked, pointing to the untouched pastry in front of me.

I shook my head and pushed the roll to him.

I didn't know if I was hungry or not; I couldn't focus on anything but Brodie's unintentional teasing.

"I can have this?" I nodded and he beamed.

"Thanks!" He sank his teeth into the treat and moaned aloud.

"Oh god, this is good. I love how the filling bursts into my mouth. "

Jesus . I was going to shatter my kneecap if I squeezed it any harder. I watched with dark eyes as he gobbled down his treat and hummed his contentment. I noticed a little blob of jelly on his cheek and crooked my finger for him to come closer.

He stood up and rounded the table until he was in front of me. I ran my thumb across his skin to collect the jam and Brodie chuckled. "It almost got away." He shocked me by plunging my finger into his mouth and licking it clean. When he moaned again, I lost my restraint.

I gripped his hip with my free hand and pulled him down so that he straddled my lap. He gasped in surprise and I wrapped my hand around the back of his head, drawing him into a deep kiss.

His tongue tasted of sweet raspberries when it tangled with mine. He whimpered and moaned as I nibbled and sucked his lips. His pheromones filled my nostrils as his arousal grew, and soon he was as hard as I was.

"Oh, Callum," he whispered when I kissed down the side of his throat.

"You make me feel so good." He snaked his arms around my neck and pulled out the band holding my hair up, allowing my locks to cascade over my shoulders.

"My god, you're so beautiful." He sank his fingers in my hair and moaned again when I nibbled his flesh.

"I can't keep my hands off of you no matter how hard I try," I mumbled against his skin.

"Don't try," he breathed, making a laugh rumble in my chest. "I love when you touch me."

I caressed my fingers down his back and gathered up the hem of my sweater he wore before cupping one of his perfectly round ass cheeks in each of my palms. "You like when I touch you here?"

"Yes." I gave his ass a squeeze and rocked his hips forward so that our hard cocks brushed together. "Yesss," he repeated, and rested his forehead on mine. His teeth trapped his bottom lip and his eyes fluttered shut in pleasure as we rocked and grinded together.

I let loose of his ass cheek for just a moment to work my shorts onto my thighs, so our hot, sensitive flesh touched. Hot bolts of ecstasy flowed through me and settled in my balls.

"Callum, yes!" Brodie exclaimed before tipping his head to the side and exposing his throat. Even though he didn't understand, his soul acknowledged our connection and his body craved my mark. My fangs elongated and ached to sink into his flesh.

I can't. Not until he knows . I gripped his ass harder and rocked him back and forth in a steady pace, milking our sandwiched cocks.

"Bite me," Brodie begged in a desperate voice. Fuck! I kept my breathing slow and steady as I fought my desires. When I didn't grant his wish, Brodie's insecurities pierced the air and sent pain through my chest. "I'm sorry," he said quietly, pushing back against my hands. "Was that weird?"

"No, Brodie; it was the hottest thing I've ever heard.

" His fear was replaced by lust and need as he pistoned his hips again.

I lowered my mouth to his throat and he shuddered when I glided the tip of my fangs across his skin.

I wouldn't bite deeply enough to mark or feed, but I wouldn't deny my lover what he needed.

I pricked his flesh and a warm drop of his blood hit my tongue. It was only enough for a taste, but it sent my eyes rolling back into my head. His flavor was better than anything I'd ever tasted; like toffee, but sweeter and more intense.
