Chapter 19
When I woke up today, the doctors told me that I was in a coma for three weeks. During that time, a nurse noticed some injuries when she did her checks. My stitches were re-opened and it was noted I had been assaulted again. They re-stitched me and I was moved to a private room, listed under an alias.
I wasn’t expecting to be violated again. I’m so sick of everyone using my body anyway they want. After having that dream of my mom at the table, I vowed to find out everything I could about my parents and their lives. I never realized how many secrets my family had, let alone enemies.
Looking over at the bedside table, I see a purple cell phone. Picking it up, the screen comes to life. I swipe my finger upward, revealing the home screen just as a text comes through. Seeing the text notification pop up on the top of the screen.
?: Keep this phone on you.
Me: Who is this?
?: You wound me.
?: How about you guess.
?: If you get it right, I’ll give you a gift.
Me: Okay, and if I get it wrong.
?: Let’s play and find out.
Me: Atii, Stone, or Cade?
?: Tsk Tsk, Princess.
?: That’s too many guesses.
Me: Um, okay. Have we met?
?: Maybe.
Me: Were you in my room today?
?: Possibly.
Me: Seriously! How am I going to guess correctly with these responses?
?: I’ll give you a hint.
?: I’m not the one who hurt you.
Me: Then how do you know about that?
?: I know a lot of things, Princess.
Me: Like what?
?: Like, you have a new foster family.
?: They will be there soon.
My heart rate picks up and the nausea settles in.
?: It’s going to be okay, Princess.
How the fuck do they know I’m panicking?
Before I can type, another text comes through.
?: You will be safe. I made sure of it.
Me: Why do you keep helping me?
?: That’s a conversation for another time.
Me: Attachment Received.
I open it, revealing Jo’s contact information.
Me: Thank you.
?: See you soon.
Me: Wait. What do I call you?
?: Daddy.
?: Too soon?
Me: Uh Yeah.
?: Not sorry, Princess.
Clicking on the attachment, pulling up Jo’s contact, I push the green call button.
“Hello. Lux. Is that you?” Jo rushes out.
“Yeah, babe. How did you know it would be me?”
“I got a text from that same number from before, letting me know everything that happened.”she says as her voice cracks as if she’s on the verge of tears.“Are you okay? Fuck. I’m sorry, babe. I know you aren’t.” She says, into the line.
“I’m coming up and I’m bringing food. Don’t you move your sexy ass.” Laughing into the phone. Knowing Jo, she is already wiping her tears and masking her feelings.
“Okay, I’ll be here.” I chuckle before sucking in air. Instantly regretting it when I feel a sharp pain in my ribs.
“Lux! What’s happening?” She shouts.
“Just some pain. I’m okay. I’ll see you soon, babe. The moon.”
“The sun.” She says, making a kissing sound into the line before ending the call.
As I reach over to the side table and lay the phone down,
It’s been six weeks since my arrival. I’ve gone through a variety of therapy and recovery treatments. There”s a knock at the door, and the panic rushes in, and alerts the monitors. The door opens, revealing the doctor, a woman, and a man.
Not again.
After the meeting with social services, I learned I was being checked out in a few hours. He cleared me to leave, informing me to continue to recover at home. My new foster family has five boys, all older than me. The worker says it’s only for a few weeks, until my birthday. She reassured me that I would be safe and that all the proper checks have been completed. She also handed me a letter from the state, apologizing for the mishap, and assuring me they are investigating the incident. They enclosed a bank statement for an account I can access on my eighteenth birthday with a settlement amount.
I close my eyes, saying a silent prayer to my parents.
Thank you for always looking out for me. If you can, please continue to find a way to keep me safe during this next stay.
After I was taken for a few more tests, I returned to my room to find a shopping bag with a change of clothes in it. There was a letter as well from Atti letting me know he would be back to talk to me. Reaching for the bag, I bring it over, and take a look inside. I begin to pull out the items, As I’m picking up a hoodie, the door swings open, startling me. I look up and see a bouncing Jo, rushing in with Atti on her heels.
“Babe! I missed you.” She rushes over, wrapping me into her arms.
“Ouch!” I say, feeling heat against my chest.
Jo leans back, still holding onto my shoulders, looking down, searching for the source.
“I don’t..” She starts to say but laughs, causing me to look over towards Atti.
He has the same confused look on his face that I know is on mine before looking back at Jo. She reaches into her bra, pulling out tacos. She sits them on the table and I reach out, hugging her.
“I missed you.”
“I missed you too, babe. I heard you”re leaving for a new place.” She raises a brow..
“I’m scared, Jo. What if they hurt me too.”
“Why would you think that?”
“They have five sons, the last family had three.” I say, tears slipping down my face.
She reaches up, wiping my cheeks. “You don’t have anything to worry about.”
“How do you know?” I question, noticing she looks over to Atti.
“I heard your new place is a few houses from mine.” She smiles.
“Really?” I’m excited and relieved to hear it.
”Well, we have to get you dressed and ready to go.” She reaches over, grabbing the bag and starts pulling things out.
“Lux.” I look over to Atti. “Eat your tacos.” He smiles.
His smile always gives me butterflies, but his commanding words always soak my panties. Too bad I’m not staying with him. He could boss me around any day. Letting out a little laugh, I tense up when I realize everyone heard it.
“What’s got you laughing to yourself?” Jo asks.
I look over at Atti and back at Jo. “Just thinking about all the fun we are going to have.”
“Damn right. Now eat up, babe.”
Reaching over and picking up the first taco, I unwrap it and take a bite. Letting out a soft moan. I see Atti discreetly adjusting himself from the corner of my eye. I take another bite looking him in the eyes and let out another moan. His face reddens and I giggle. I finish my taco in silence, feeling a glimmer of hope that everything will work out at this new place.
