Chapter 24 Mekhi
“Mekhi—”
“Dance, Farrah. Everything doesn’t have to be a lecture,” I cut her off.
Full of attitude, she wanted to refuse to move with me. But then, Vedo was in her ear, and I could feel her resistance melting. With her heels, she was tall enough to press her cheek against my upper chest.
“Was that so hard?” I asked, moving slowly.
She didn’t answer, just followed my lead as her eyes fluttered closed.
For once, she let go and let me lead. I had to remind myself that I shouldn’t really be feeling this.
I was just trying to draw Trell out. Having her in my arms still felt good.
I brushed my lips against the shell of her ear, then smiled as she shivered.
“Listen how he singing about yo’ aggravating ass,” I teased.
You've got a mouth witcho mean ass
Sometimes you can act like a bitch
But I know you don't mean it.
“Shut up,” she murmured, hiding her smile against me.
You just need some TLC, THC, long dick, and Hennessy
Yeah, that's me.
The lyrics left her speechless and I knew she was thinking about me giving her all those things… especially the long dick that I had let her feel a few nights before. Blushing, she tried to pull away from me, but I wouldn’t let her go.
“Now you shy?”
“I’m always shy,” she said.
I scoffed in disbelief.
“What?”
I didn’t answer. Instead, I pulled her closer, then bent my head and brushed my nose along the column of her throat. I inhaled sharply, loving the feel of her skin against mine.
“You smell different,” I said.
She frowned. “Hmm?”
“No chocolate.”
“Oh!”
Yeah, I’d taken notice of her signature scent.
“The chocolate is body spray. When I go out like this, I think something more sophisticated is needed,” she explained.
I shook my head. “Nah. It smells good, but the chocolate is all you.”
“You think so?”
“Definitely.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” she said, blushing.
I changed the subject, catching her off guard. “You were about to kiss Steel.”
That shit had shocked me when I walked in, seeing her all in that nigga’s personal space, about to bless him with something that I was starting to feel like was mine. It wasn’t a question, so she didn’t offer an answer. But when I kept staring down at her, she nodded.
“Why?”
“Just to show him I appreciate all he does.”
“He knows it. You don’t have to put your lips on him.”
A small smile played around her mouth. “Why do you even care?”
I slid my index finger under her chin and tilted her head back, making her meet my eyes.
“Just don’t, Farrah,” I warned.
“Mekhi—”
She was ready to argue, as usual. I stopped her with the smooth stroke of my mouth against hers.
She never fought me on this. Instead, she parted her lips and my tongue eased between them.
It was a quick kiss, little more than a tease, but I felt her softening even more against me.
Then the song was over, and I was leading her off the floor.
She was silent until we reached our table.
Riah handed her a glass and her little bag.
“Your phone been vibrating,” she said, before turning her attention back to the crowd.
Farrah took a sip of the Rémy, then set it down, ignoring my scowl.
I wanted to know who had been calling and texting her.
Probably that weak ass nigga who thought he was her boyfriend.
She needed to set him straight, immediately.
For now, I needed to know if my team had noticed anything. Steel shook his head when I asked him.
“A lot of niggas were looking at her, but nothing out of order,” he said. “I’on know what the guys on the floor saw, though.”
“I’ll check with them. You know where Seth went?”
“Shorty up here wasn’t having his nonsense, then Elena walked through.”
I laughed at the fact that Mariah saw right through his ass. I had no doubt that he was really attracted to her, but Elena had that nigga’s nose wide open.
“If I take Farrah home, can you make sure her cousin makes it safely?”
His eyes moved over to Mariah, and I saw something flash in them for just a second. Shit, it was hard to ever know how Steel felt, but if I wasn’t mistaken, that was a look of interest.
“As long as I ain’t stepping on Seth’s toes,” he finally said.
“I’on think that nigga has a chance in hell with her.”
He nodded then and I walked back to the table.
“You ready?” I asked Farrah.
Her gaze darted to her cousin. “We came together, so we leaving—”
“Steel gon’ take her home.”
Her stubborn ass started shaking her head. “That’s not how this works. We don’t—”
Mariah grabbed her arm, silencing her annoying ass for once.
“It’s cool, Farrah,” she said, her eyes on Steel.
You’d have to be blind to miss the interest in her eyes. Farrah’s jaw dropped, but she recovered quickly. “You sure?”
Mariah nodded. “Positive.”
I held out my hand.
“What?” she asked.
“Your valet ticket.”
She wanted to argue, but I silenced her with a look. She dug in the little bag and pulled it out.
“One of my guys will bring it home. You riding with me.”
She sucked her teeth but, for once, she didn’t say anything.
I took the ticket then signaled for a few of the men I had around the club.
Steel went to retrieve his car from valet, and I sent Will to get Farrah’s.
I was about to ask if anyone had seen anything strange when Farrah walked up to me, Mariah right behind her.
“We need to run to the ladies’ room,” she announced.
“My guys are tied up. Can it wait a minute?”
“Did you see what we drank? No, it can’t wait. We can go—”
The look I gave her cut her off. She sighed but cut off her suggestion.
“I got ‘em, Boss. I don’t have anything to report, anyway,” Jarell said.
I nodded and watched as he led them down the stairs and toward the restrooms. I turned back to the three men standing in front of me.
“What about the rest of y’all? Anybody see anything funny?”
“Just niggas checking out your girl. Nothing crazy,” Guy volunteered.
Cardo nodded. “I saw that. But I also saw a chick taking a couple of pics of y’all.”
“You talk to her?”
“Yeah. Made her go outside and dial the number she sent them to. I didn’t even bother you with that shit because it was Samaria.”
I shook my head. “This bitch got spies?”
He chuckled. “Looks like.”
Yeah, I was going to have to deal with her ass. “She still here?”
“Nah. I scared the shit out of her. She ran as soon as I let her go. But I got her driver’s license in case you thought anything crazy was up.”
“Good.”
I talked to them for a couple of minutes until our bottle girl approached again, her smile much wider now that Farrah and Mariah were gone.
“Can I get you anything else?” she asked suggestively.
I inclined my head toward my crew. “Get them whatever they want. Add it to my tab.”
“Will that be all?”
She leaned forward, making sure I got a good look down the little top she wore. Any other time, I might be interested. She was just my type with her smooth, dark skin and slim-but-curvy body. But I had to admit, my attention was wrapped up in Farrah’s thick ass, as hard as I was fighting it.
“Yeah, that’s all.”
She took their orders quickly before giving me one last look while licking her lips.
Shaking my head, I smiled at her. I watched appreciatively as she walked toward the stairs, her hips swaying seductively.
She stopped suddenly when someone streaked by her.
It took a second for me to realize it was Mariah.
I looked around for Farrah but didn’t see her.
Something was wrong. I knew that shit instinctively.
“Where—” I started, but Mariah was already up on me, her hands grabbing mine as she started talking.
“Mekhi, you have to… Jarell is fighting, and I don’t see Farrah. She—”
I didn’t even let her finish her statement. I had wanted to see if Trell was watching, but I never meant for Farrah to run into that nigga by herself.
