Conspiracy #2
I wonder if this might be the turning point, but I want to see her reaction.
“On a lover’s conversation. I overheard more than enough.”
Cass freezes and I see Azazel peek their white mask around the corner as well.
“Lover’s…” Cass says before she turns to look at Azazel. And then back at me. “Oh my fucking God. Who the fuck started that rumor again?”
I flinch at her words.
“Gareth,” I say, backing another step down the hall. “I had information, but I can come back later when the Council is together.”
“Do not run from me, woman,” Cass’ voice has taken on an entirely different tone. And I find myself rooted to the spot as Azazel finally steps around her.
“How did you overhear us?” Azazel asks, and I almost scoff at the question.
“You guys are fucking loud. And I am so tired of being used. I’ll fight his war, but that’s all. And it won’t be for you.”
“You should not have been able to hear us,” Azazel says, sounding downright perplexed. “And you have a healing factor. Both of which are not normal in someone—”
“Aaron, Christ, read the room,” I say, spitting their name back at them.
Azazel—Aaron, does actually shut up this time.
“You—” Cass scoffs as she points a finger at the ground in front of her. “Come here.”
I could make a break for it.
“I do not wish to see this,” Azazel says and the damned coward slips past me.
“Here,” Cass’ demand comes again and I finally slink forward, wondering why after everything she still has this control over me.
She studies me for a moment before shaking her head with what could be a hint of amusement.
“How much did you overhear?” she asks and I wonder if honesty might start a fight. I’d hate to end up in the hospital again, but Trish makes a mean chicken noodle soup.
“You two have been together awhile and they approve of whatever you tried with me. Which I guess—”
Cass’ speed is unfathomable as she grabs me by the bicep, spins us, and steps me through the open door. It shuts firmly behind her, and I can hear the locking mechanism tick in.
“The part you missed,” she says, voice menacingly quiet. “Is that I was telling my close friend that you are far more to me than some woman I had to track down.”
I take a step back as she advances with each word. A solid wall presses up against me as Cass stands only a few inches away. Her face impassive as she tears me apart with her eyes alone.
“In all of my years, I have never needed for physical connection. Sex is easy. There are always willing participants. But I have never wanted a connection with someone more than I want it with you. I have never wanted to be with someone more than I want to be with you. I have never needed,” she steps forward again, this time her pelvis pushes up against mine, pinning me to the desk, “to feel someone against me as I do with you.”
“I don’t—”
“Quiet. I will say my piece.”
And I shut my fucking mouth.
“I have never lied to you. Not in the few weeks you have been here nor in the days proceeding them. And I want to be perfectly clear when I tell you that you, Arya, are the only person I want. And it has taken everything in me to not just take what I want.”
Heat flushes my abdomen at her words and my jaw sags uselessly as she presses her entire body against mine.
“But what—” I start and she wraps long fingers around my throat.
“Gareth von Kemp is a fucking moron. Azazel has no desire for romantic or physical connections of any kind. We have been close confidantes for well over two decades and the rumor pops up from time to time. It has never been important to address–until now, it seems.”
Her orange eyes blaze with a dark fire before she draws her tongue along the side of my face. Like she’s tasting a delicious meal.
“And I only fuck women, Arya,” her whisper is ragged against my ear.
I gasp out as her other hand finds my waistband.
“Any other questions?”
With one hand around my throat and the other palming at my abdomen, I almost short circuit.
“So, it’s just me—” and she presses a searing kiss to my mouth. Her teeth click against mine and she swallows my cry.
Cass releases my mouth for a moment and whispers, “I would like it to always be you, if you will have me.”
“Why?” I ask, feeling overwhelmed and, at the same time, desired in a way that I’ve never felt before. “Why me?”
Cass’ expression darkens like I’d just upset her.
“I want to know who hurt you,” her warm breath sends chills down my spine. “Because I will flay their skin from their bones and feed them to the wolves.”
I let out a whimper as she kisses a trail up my jaw.
“You just—” I shudder again as she inhales deeply against my neck. “You could have anyone and you choose me?”
“So could you,” she hums, biting at my earlobe. It hurts but God, I already feel wound tight. “Accept my heart, Arya.”
She presses flush against me, her thigh applying overpressure to the hand toying at my center.
“I just need you to be open with me,” I huff out, feeling her fingers dip below my loose waistband. “Please don’t break my heart.”
The plea feels absurd, but Cass leans back to meet my eyes—a deathly seriousness in the swirling, darkened orange.
“There is nothing more important to me than you, Arya,” and she must see the confusion on my face because her cheeks tinge pink. “It will take time for me to explain, but I am going to do everything in my power to help you understand.”
And I can tell she believes what she’s saying—which in itself is terrifying and beautiful in equal measure.
“Please let me show you,” she whispers, lips pressing to my jaw again. “I do not wish to hold back anymore.”
Teeth press into the soft flesh at the base of my neck, and I let out a shuddering groan.
“Say it,” she hisses and I almost lose all feeling in my legs.
“Please, Cass.” I’m not even sure what she wants me to say, but that seems to do it.
Her hand around my neck tightens and she bares my throat to her. The other hand finally pushes beneath my waist band and cups roughly at my core.
“Oh, fuck,” I hiss. I can already tell this won’t take long.
“Be a good girl and stay still while I play,” Cass’ voice is teasing, but I lock my spine anyways.
Fingers deftly push aside soaked panties and press against my hot flesh. I buck against her hand and let out a keening cry.
“So wet for me,” she purrs, pressing another kiss to my neck. “I am honored.”
“You’re—” I hiss as she runs a finger the length of my slit. “You’re fucking hot.”
“Is that all it takes?” she asks but doesn’t wait for an answer as one finger dips into pooling wetness.
My hips meet her fingers as if finding their home. She swirls her index along my cunt and my eyes lock onto hers. She’s magnificent.
“Oh, Cass,” I whine as one finger enters me fully.
My hands come up to grip around Cass’ hips, and I realize, somewhat belatedly, that this is the first time I’ve actually touched her.
She begins to pump rhythmically with the single finger, her palm roughly grinding against my clit.
“You feel so good. So soft and warm,” she groans, teeth nipping at my jaw as she moves her hand to cup the back of my neck. “Good girl.”
The praise sends another rush of ecstasy up my spine, and I wriggle to find release against her hand.
In answer, she thrusts another finger into me, and it slips in with embarrassing ease.
“I’m not going to last—” I huff and let out a cry as she moves the hand to knead at my breast.
“You have such an amazing body,” Cass says, and I try to refocus again on her face.
Her orange irises seem to shift as the light hits them. Her dark hair is pinned loosely behind her head showing off her slim neck. Her thin, upturned nose and full lips are as picturesque as they are imperfect in the best ways.
“I cannot wait to discover everything that makes you come,” she says, lips pulling back to display white teeth.
Her fingers curl against the wall of sensitive flesh and the built-up tension is too much.
“Fuck, I’m going to—” I buck against her, my jaw sagging open.
She thrusts her tongue into my mouth as a third finger enters me. Cass fills me from every angle, and I feel like I’m living out a dangerously perfect dream.
The ache turns quickly to a roaring inferno as I tighten around her fingers, coming hard.
Her hand drops from my neck, pulling me against her to ride her fingers through the orgasm. After a few moments, she begins to rub soothing circles against my clit with her thumb.
I let out a whimper, and she finally slows, still holding me tightly.
My head thuds against her shoulder and she removes her hand from my waistband, wrapping both around my back.
The thrum of my heartbeat is the only noise in the room for what feels like an eon.
“You are so beautiful and perfect for me,” Cass hums, voice no longer that of the icy, unyielding ruler—but the one of a lover.
“You broke me,” I moan, letting her take my weight. “I can’t feel my legs.”
