2. Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Dylan
Sitting in the nail salon with the girls, I keep replaying last night's events over and over in my head. I know I said I would forget about it and act like it never happened, but I can’t, not with Easton. He always leaves a mark on me and I don’t mean literally. It's like he leaves me with a little piece of his soul, but never shows me everything I need and want. He’s the reason I stay with Carter. If I’m all alone, I will pine for him, and that's not the type of girl I am. I don’t chase boys; they chase me.
Being with Carter is passing time. Do I love him the way he loves me? Absolutely not. I have no idea what love is. It seems too messy for me and I don’t ever want to be in love. Not if it always ends up with abandonment. I should be used to that feeling by now, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.
“Are you even listening?” Ava questions, snapping her fingers in my face. I fucking hate when she does that. I look over to her with narrowed eyes.
“Sorry, I was thinking about what to wear tonight. You guys coming to the frat party?” I ask, dismissing her bullshit.
“Yes.” They both say like a set of Bobbsey Twins. These two are always inseparable. We all were until we started dating, then the guys took our time away from one another, but I love when we do girl stuff. It takes my mind off other shit.
“But did you hear what I said about Carter?” She quips.
“Obviously not Ava.” I laugh.
“Apparently, after we left The Fatals party last night, the frat had girls over and some chick was rubbing up all over your man.” She says.
“Interesting. I trust Carter though. I’m secure enough in our relationship not to worry about what he does at the frat house. I know girls come and go.” I shrug.
“I know Dyl. I just wanted to give you a heads up about the bullshit being said. I don’t want my best friend looking like an asshole.” She says sincerely.
“Thanks, babe. I appreciate that. How was your time with Daddy?” I ask, changing the subject. I’ll deal with Carter later tonight.
“Five orgasms and new jimmy choo’s. I think we can all agree it was well worth it.” She gloats but continues.
“Maxwell is a silver fox and something out of a book, I swear. He asked if he could take me away for a weekend so we don’t have to hide.” She says, as a blush crawls up her face.
“Wait, wait, wait.” Amy chimes in. “I thought this was just about the money and dick. Are you seeing one another? What about Ace? Stop gatekeeping and spill the tea.” I nod in agreement. Ava giggles. Uh oh. I wasted my breath about the whole feelings thing. Shit. She’s already done for. This is a good distraction away from my thoughts of Easton.
“That’s how it started, but then we couldn’t stay away. I promise you it’s not me. He’s the one pursuing me, not the other way around, and fuck Ace!” She blurts, and we roll our eyes, knowing to leave that subject well alone.
“Okay, that is not enough. Come on, Ava! Give us all the dirt. Does he have a big dick? I bet he does and knows how to use it better than the guys our age.” Amy says, wiggling her brows. I laugh because she's probably right.
“Amy, don’t be so crass. But yes, yes he does.” She giggles again. “He’s wonderful, sophisticated and plays my body like a fucking fiddle. He cooks me dinner and eats me for dessert. Every single time.” She says with a smile on her face. She seems happy, but it all seems too good to be true.
“Does he have a friend? Hook ya bestie up.” Amy says.
I quirk a brow at her and she rolls her eyes.
“Did you forget you're dating my brother? Don’t let him hear that shit. You know how he gets.” I quip. Her eyes won’t meet mine, which means something has happened.
“What happened? You won’t look at me. Fucking spill Amy.” I say, getting annoyed at all the secrets going on that I’m unaware of. She takes a deep breath and a lone tear falls from her eye. Fuck.
“We broke up last weekend. He told me that we have grown apart and I’m not it for him anymore. Our relationship has run its course, and we are done.” She hiccups as tears flow down her cheeks. I reach over, grab her face, and wipe the tears from her eyes.
“I’m going to kill him when I see him, but you," I say, grabbing a hold of her face and looking into her eyes. "No crying over my asshole brother. There will be other guys who will treat you the way you deserve and if you want to get back at him. Fuck his friends!” I say and they laugh.
“So take a ride with The Fatal Five? No thanks Dyl. I like my life too much to lose it over your brother being a dick.” She says, wiping more tears from her eyes. I know she loves my brother, but he’s too blind to see the amazing girl she is.
“I’m just saying.” I sing. They start chattering about tonight’s events at the frat, and I take my phone out to text Bentley.
Me: When the fuck were you going to tell me about Amy?
Benny: Well, little sister. I don’t have to tell you shit. I’m done with her. It’s just that simple.
Me: Oh, I see. Okay. Then I got something for your ass.
Benny: And what is that?
Me: Oh nothing, just a frat party on the row tonight. Might as well bring her along for a nightcap.
Benny: You're bluffing.
I take a pic of us in the salon. He knows before we go out, we always get our nails and hair done.
Me: Multimedia Message Sent.
Suddenly, my phone starts to ring. Answering, I put on a sickly sweet tone.
“Hello dear brother, what can I do for you?” Looking over at Amy, her eyes widen, shaking her head profusely.
“You are not to go to that frat party tonight, let alone taking Amy,” he growls down the line.
“Or else what?” I spit.
“I swear to God Dylan, for once in your life, do as you're fucking told. No frat party tonight. Something is going down and you cannot be there!” He yells.
“Now I'm calling your bluff. If the party is so dangerous, then why haven’t you warned me not to go in the first place knowing who the fuck my boyfriend is? Lie better next time, douchebag. Gotta go. It’s waxing time.” I laugh, hanging up on him as he continues to yell down the line. I put my phone on silent and place it in my bag.
“You’re a savage, but you know there will be consequences if we don’t listen.” Amy laughs.
“Oh, you let me deal with the prince of darkness. I can handle my fucking brother.” I wink at her and relax into my seat, closing my eyes. Nothing like a challenge to get my adrenaline going. Tonight is going to be so much fucking fun.
Me and Amy took an Uber to the frat house. Maxwell called Ava, so she chose a night of wine and dine rather than hanging with us. I don’t blame her. The partying, the drugs, the boys. It gets old. If it wasn’t because I needed to prove a point, I would be doing something much more exhilarating. When we arrived, Carter was very shocked to see me and that has my red flags flying high, so I’ve been ignoring him. This party is not as big as it usually is and something is seriously off. My phone pings with a text. I reach into my jeans pocket and take it out, seeing its Bentley, I roll my eyes.
Benny: Where the fuck are you Dylan?
Me: At the party calling your bluff.
Benny: Leave. NOW!
Me: Why should I listen to you?
Benny: I don’t have time for this. Fucking leave now, Dylan.
Me: I don’t have my car! We took an Uber.
Benny: Just fucking get out of there. Don’t worry about a ride. Just get the fuck out of there. NOW!
Suddenly the lights go out and Amy screams. I grab her, throwing my hand over her mouth to shut her the fuck up.
“Amy, listen to me. Bentley told us to get out. Be quiet and don’t let go of my hand. Got it?” I whisper, taking my hand away from her mouth.
“Y-yeah, got it.” She stutters. Luckily, we are in the kitchen and can easily slip out of the back door. I pull her along the steps down to the ground level. Grabbing my phone, I shoot out a text.
Me: What the fuck is going on? The lights just went out.
Benny: Get off the property. Go down the road. Make sure no one follows you. I’ll explain later.
Rounding the corner of the house, I collide with boobs and a knife at my throat. I gasp as she presses the knife deeper into my neck and pushes me against the house. A masked man grabs Amy, covering her mouth with his hand, and pushes her to her knees. My heart is beating a mile a minute. I’ve never been in a situation like this. This is what my brother and his crew protect me from.
The girl with bicolored eyes cocks her head at me and releases the knife from my throat, only to drag the dull side over my forehead and down my cheek to my jawline.
“You're beautiful.” She whispers under the mask. I don’t move an inch. I’m so scared, but her eyes are nothing I’ve ever seen before. They’re hypnotic. She trails the knife down my neck and around my breast. My breathing hitches when she circles the tip around my hardened nipples. I’ve never been attracted to girls before, but her, she’s fucking gorgeous.
“Someone likes my knife.” She breathes.
“We aren’t here for them, let's move it along sister,” the masked man spits.
“You’re never any fun, Prince.” She says, pulling out her phone and opening it to show me a picture of a hot guy I’ve never seen before.
“Have you seen him here tonight?” she asks, trailing the knife down my torso and pressing it against my hip bone. I shake my head no profusely.
“I have never seen him before. I’m sorry.” I stammer. She nods and removes the knife from my body. I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding.
“Get out of here before I change my mind and keep you for myself.” She whispers. My eyes widen but she lets me go and I grab Amy and run. We don’t stop until we get to the university six blocks away. Holy fucking shit, what and who the fuck was that? I’m not sure whether I’m more scared, or turned the fuck on, by that girl. My panties are soaked. My phone pings with a text at the same time as Amy’s phone, taking me out of my thoughts. Taking mine out, I see its Easton.
Easton: Where are you?
Me: Come find me, Crow.
Easton: Hellcat, this is not the time to play games.
Me: No fun. At the university.
Easton: Drop your pin and stop turning your location off.
Me: Come find me Eas. Come play with me.
Easton. Get rid of Amy then.
Me: Maybe she can watch?
Easton: Not an option.
Looking over at Amy, she smiles, “You know, sometimes you are a genius. B is coming to get me.” She smiles and I laugh.
Me: Benny is coming to get her.
Easton: See you soon, Hellcat.
