Chapter 40

Dylan

Sitting on my mother’s couch waiting for Bentley to arrive is really fucking nerve wracking. Thank God for the anchor next to me, otherwise I would have left already.

“Is Benny on his way? Because I’m over this.” I whisper to Eas and he shakes his head yes.

“He should be pulling up any second.” He whispers back, running his nose on the shell of my ear.

“I’m over it too. I’d much rather be stretching out your pussy than sit here and listen to whatever it is they need to tell us.” A blush creeps up my cheek and I smack his chest.

“Behave, our mothers are only feet away.” I laugh as a throat clears.

“Took him long enough.” My mother snides as Bentley walks into the house and plops next to me, giving Eas a fist bump behind my head.

“I’m here. What’s this about?” Bentley asks and April steps up.

“So I’m just going to say it. Your mom and I have been seeing each other for years.” She admits, and I roll my eyes.

“We know.” Both Eas and Benny say at the same time, and their eyes widen.

“Oh? Well then, I’ve asked April to marry me and we would like you all to take a trip with us to Aruba next month.” My mother states.

“So that’s the only secret you want to come clean with?” Bentley growls, and I lay a hand on his knee. This is not the time to hash out this shit.

“What do you mean Benny?” My mother asks with a raised brow. She knows damn well what he’s talking about, but here we go. He’s going to pull it right out of her. He stands and starts to pace. Fuck. I look over to Eas and he shakes his head.

“Oh, how about we have an uncle who I’ve been working for all these years? Or, the fact that I have cousins I didn’t know were my family because you kept this fucking secret? For what?” He yells and she gasps.

“I don’t know what you are talking about.” She replies, and April raises a brow.

“Bullshit! We all fucking know we are family members of The Rodriguez Cartel. Fucking admit it already.” He yells, throwing his hands up in the air.

“I’m sorry. I kept this secret to keep you both safe. You don’t fucking know the story. My story.” She yells back at him and this time I chime in.

“But I do. I know it all.” I confess and she turns to me with wide eyes.

“How? No one knows. I’ve never told anyone but April.” She whispers, looking at her fiance with accusing eyes.

“It wasn’t me. I didn’t say shit to anyone so take that look off your face.” April points.

“It doesn’t matter how I found out, but you’re not telling him the full truth.” I say with a pointed look, and her face drops.

“I can’t, not now!” she says, shaking her head.

“Tell me what?” He says.

“Dylan, don’t!” she yells, but I shake my head.

“He deserves to know. No matter what his reaction is, he deserves to know the truth.” I yell and she slaps me across the face. Easton immediately gets in front of me, but I pull him back by his shirt.

“Stand down, son.” April warns.

“Don’t fucking touch her!” He growls as I continue to pull him towards me. He grabs my face, looking at the damage, and takes a deep breath.

“What the fuck is this? Are you two together?” My mother asks accusingly, and I look her dead in her eyes and nod my head yes.

“Yeah, we’re together. Is there a fucking problem?” Easton says and my mother narrows her eyes.

“Will someone tell me what I need to know so I can fucking leave?” Bentley chimes in, but no one says shit. Eyes are on me and Easton.

“Benny, just go. Fuck this.” I say, walking towards the door. Benny leaves without another glance and Easton chases after him.

“It’s bad enough you ran through the swim team and now you’re fucking your soon to be step brother?” She says and I laugh.

“That’s rich coming from a liar like you. Can’t even tell your fucking son that he’s a product of incest, nor tell me that I have to fulfill the legacy you couldn’t. Get your fucking shit together before this is the last time you see us.” I spit and she slaps me again.

“You’re a product of rape too, you little bitch. I’m done protecting the both of you. Fuck you and him. Get the fuck out of my house you little whore.” She yells and I laugh in her face, looking at April.

“I feel bad for you! You’re marrying a fake and a liar. I hope the two of you are happy.” I say walking out but my mother's next words stop me.

“I should have aborted you when I had the chance.” Those words hit me exactly where she intended.

“Fucking useless little spoiled bitch you are. Get out. You're not my daughter anymore. Selfish cunt.” She yells and I leave with a tear running down my face. I walk down the steps and out the fence and keep walking, despite my brother and Easton yelling for me. I don’t stop, I just walk. Needing to clear my head alone, it’s not until a familiar truck slows alongside me that I realize I’m close to Uni. I look up and my eyes collide with Carter’s and he drags his finger across his neck in warning, then the revving of an engine behind him causes him to speed off. I look over and see Easton, waiting for me with a raised brow. He lights his cigarette, taking a deep pull.

“Was that who I think it was?” He asks and I nod.

“Get in. I want to show you something.” He says, and I climb in the car with him, taking off into the sunset.

The next morning, I’m standing in my bedroom at my mother’s house packing my stuff up. I sent her a text letting her know I was clearing out my room. Of course it’s radio silence, but Eas told me she was kicked off the case and sent to California for the week on a new assignment. So while she's gone, I figured I’d get this over with. Last night, after everything went down, Easton showed me a little house that sits on Whitestone lake. When we pulled down the long driveway and the little white house came into view, I immediately fell in love. I wasn’t sure why we were there. I thought maybe it was another Airbnb and he just wanted to be alone but that wasn’t the case. He bought us a house. Our own fucking house. I cried happy tears in his arms and we made love against the stairs but we didn’t stop there. It was one incredible night and I can’t wait to get back there. Creaking of the stairs takes me out of my thoughts.

“Hello? Eas, is that you?” I yell waiting for a reply but nothing. I continue to grab all my stuff from my bathroom and shove it in my suitcase. My closet is already empty. Eas told me not to worry about furniture. We will go shopping later to pick out everything we need. Ugh this man makes me melt into a fucking puddle. I’m so deep in thought that I don’t feel the presence behind me until it’s too late.

“You’ve been a bad girl, Dyl.” Carter whispers and I jump out of my skin, spinning around to face him. He holds up a knife pressing it to my face, trailing it down my jaw and over my breasts. I freeze.

“I’ve missed this tight little body writhing beneath me, baby.” He whispers and I slam my knee as hard as I can into his nuts. Jumping back, he falls to his knees and I run out of my room and down the stairs, but I’m not quick enough. My face collides with the front door as he slams me into it. “You little bitch!” He growls, pulling my shirt back and throwing me against the bookcase, causing the shelving and books to fall onto the floor. Fuck, that hurt. I try to right myself but he lifts me off the ground by my hair. I punch him, slicing the side of my hand with his knife causing me to cry out. Blood pours down my hand and wrist onto the floor. “You ruined everything you dumb bitch! I was supposed to be a part of Fatal. You were the key to getting me in!” He yells and I laugh.

“You aren’t worthy enough to be a part of them! Fucking loser.” I spit blood into his face.

“Fucking cunt!” He yells as he slams my head into the TV along with the knife only centimeters away from my eyes. My vision blurs but I refuse to stop fighting. He walks away thinking he won, but I grab one of the statues next to the TV and slam it against the back of his neck causing him to stumble forward onto the couch. I spin, running down the hallway as blood drips onto the wood floor.

Getting into the kitchen I grab a knife but he slaps it out of my hand, slamming my face onto the counter. Blood spews as I knock over the vase of fresh flowers causing glass to shatter all over the floor.

“Can you just die already? Fuck!” He screams. Then I see the reflection of fluorescent blue before I feel the pinch in my neck as a sudden rush of heat fills my veins. The room spins for only a second before Carter drops behind me.

“Hellcat! Get up. Finish this mother fucker!” Easton orders and I take a deep breath, standing.

“No, take him to the basement. I’m not done with him yet,” I spit and Easton grins. A voice echoes in the distance as he drags the body down the basement steps.

“It’s almost time, my Little Puppet.” I shake my head as I grab the railing. What the fuck is happening? My vision blurs and I miss a step but strong arms catch me.

“You okay, baby?” He asks and I nod. At least I hope I am. I step further into the room grabbing an old chair from the corner and some bungee cords, handing them to Easton. He rolls his eyes but takes them as I wrap Carter's legs around the bottom of the chair. The room starts to spin with different colors and shapes, clouding everything in front of me. I shut my eyes tightly and open them seeing everything is normal.

“Eas, call my uncle. Get him and Jameson here now. Something is wrong. I don’t fucking feel right,” I say in a panic as our eyes collide and next thing I know, I’m falling back into the abyss and darkness takes over.
