Chapter 5

CHAPTER FIVE

Lyric

As soon as we walked into the cabin, I could already tell Gran was here and waiting in the kitchen, the sound of dishes clattering a dead giveaway. This woman needed to stop cleaning up after me already.

But before we could begin introductions, my two animals had to make themselves known. “Lemon, Riffy, be nice to Phoenix, okay?” I said to both my dog and cat as Phoenix looked on lovingly.

“Is this the beautiful lady my grandson won’t stop going on and on about?” Gran asked as soon as I introduced her to Phoenix.

“Yes, Gran, this is her. Phoenix, meet Gran, Gran meet Phoenix.” I wrapped my arm around Phoenix’s waist and pulled her close to my side.

“Oh, you sweet, sweet, girl. No wonder my grandson is so smitten with you. You’re gorgeous.” Gran gushed while taking Phoenix’s hands in hers and kissing them both. “Thank you for lighting up my grandson’s face and filling his heart with love. Oh, how I just love seeing him so happy!”

Once Gran got started, it was hard to get her to stop. But food was always a good distraction. “Phoenix is going to join us for pizza night. Where are we ordering from tonight?”

“Let Phoenix decide she is the guest after all! I ordered a chocolate cake from Ruby’s bakery. Her sweet husband delivered it not too long ago.” Gran said as we settled around the kitchen table.

“Ruby’s bakery? I love her apple cinnamon muffins!” Phoenix said. “My parents and I always went there every Sunday for fresh muffins.”

“Are you from Appleridge, dear?”

“Yes. I started working here in Apple Falls recently. At Amara’s flower shop.”

“Oh, the flower shop! I just love that little place. It always smells so wonderful in there. So, you’re a florist?”

“Yes. I specialize more in gardens than I do floral arrangements but ask me anything about plants and I’m your gal.” Phoenix spoke animatedly, and my heart warmed at how much she’s opened herself to me. And now to one of the most important people in my life, my Gran.

“I’d love to pick your brain! I can never seem to get my pansies to grow well.”

As the two of them ventured into conversation about sun, shade, and water levels, I ordered a couple of pizzas from our favorite place in town and cracked open a bottle of wine. I think tonight deserved a bit of celebrating.

Not only was our project done and the customers extremely pleased with our hard work, but I also planned on asking Phoenix to be mine. In my heart, she already was, but it was time to make the damn thing official.

Phoenix stole my heart the moment I met her in Amara’s flower shop, and I didn’t want to hold back my feelings any longer.

Later, after we stuffed ourselves full of pizza and cake, wine, and more wine, we cuddled on the couch, a movie playing softly in the background. One I think neither of us was paying much attention to.

I gave her a tour of my cabin earlier, and also one of Gran’s, that I custom built for her on the land I purchased years ago. I also built my cabin from scratch after Gran’s was finished and lived in a trailer on the property while working.

“Phoenix, can I ask you something?”

“Mmm,” she mumbled, her voice sleepy.

“Will you be my girl?”

She sat up straight and looked at me. “No one’s ever asked me that before.”

“Good. I enjoy being the first person and only person to have asked you.”

“Of course I’ll be your girl, Lyric. It was clear from day one I was always going to be.” She climbed into my lap and wrapped her arms around my neck, her legs around my waist. The noticeable bulge in my pants couldn’t be missed, and she rubbed against it, a mischievous smile on her face.

A feral groan escaped my throat at the friction of her movements, and I gripped her waist, guiding her hips against me. “Feel how hard you make me?” I breathed, my eyes ablaze with heat.

Phoenix nodded before she leaned down and kissed me, softly at first, before exploding with passion, our kiss doubling in intensity.

I followed her lead, listened to her commands, and read her body language as our kiss deepened, and our hands began to explore.

“Anytime you want to stop, or cool off, or you just don’t feel right, tell me, okay? I won’t be mad. I could never be mad at you for simply listening to what feels right to you, or what you may be ready for.”

She took my face in her hands and kissed me over and over. “How did I get so lucky to find you?” She pulled out the elastic in her hair, the long tendrils falling around her shoulders, the first time I’d seen her with her hair down.

“You’re stunning, Phoenix. Fuck.” I said as I watched her reach for the hem of her t-shirt.

“You’re so patient.” She lifted her shirt up and off, tossing it to the floor, a pink lace bra with tiny flowers covering her ample, milky breasts.

“So kind.” She reached around the back and undid the clasp.

I watched as the lacy fabric gave way and her breasts tumbled out and into my waiting hands.

Phoenix didn’t flinch or shy away. No, she thrusted her tits into my hands and cried out for more as I licked and sucked her nipples, pulling at them gently with my fingers.

“So understanding.” She stood without warning, and I cried out at the loss of her beautiful breasts bouncing in my face.

She undid the clasp of her jean shorts and my dick thickened.

When she slid them down past her curvy ass and thick thighs, down over her soft, smooth shins, and kicked them to the side, she was left in nothing but a pink thong.

I ran a hand down my face and through my beard. “Shittttt.” I drew the word out. She was prettier than I ever could’ve imagined, more beautiful in person than a fantasy.

“I want to give myself to you, Lyric. I want you to be my first and last.”

“Are you sure?” I searched her eyes. I needed to know she was comfortable.

“Yes.” Phoenix shimmed out of her pink thong, and I nearly lost my damn mind. I stood from the couch and lifted her into my arms, like a groom carrying his bride over the threshold.

As I carried her upstairs, ready to devour her body all night in my bed, the realization hit me sideways.

I fucking loved this woman.

I was madly in love with Phoenix.

And I always would be.
