Epilogue #2

“That’s it,” he murmurs with his mouth against my ear. His fingers move slowly, deliberately. “You’re so wet, Stella. That’s all for me, isn’t it?”

I can’t form words. I nod, and he presses harder, and the cold water rushes over my ankles now while his hand stays warm and steady between my thighs.

“Say it.” His teeth graze my earlobe, and I shiver and pull him closer, almost clawing at his shoulders. “Tell me who makes you feel like this.”

“You,” I gasp, arching against him, moving my hips. “You, it’s you, it’s always you.”

“Always,” he repeats. The word sounds like a vow in his mouth.

He pairs it with a pair of fingers, sliding them inside me slowly before curling them to stroke.

My back arches off the wet sand, and the sky is enormous above me, blue and gold.

His thumb finds the exact spot that makes my vision go white.

“Don’t hold back,” he orders over my cries, circling my clit. “There’s no one here. Let me hear you.”

I don’t hold back. I can’t. I come apart with his name on my lips and the ocean pulling at my ankles. The sound I make is loud enough that if anyone were within a mile of this beach, they would have concerns.

He works me through it. Slowly. Murmuring things against my skin.

“You feel so good... fuck, you sound so perfect,” he whispers, painting me with his tongue, easing me down from my high.

“I’m going to spend the rest of my life making you do this.

You know that, right? You’re going to come for me. Just for me.”

I know he’s right. I want nothing more.

I’m still shaking when he pulls back to strip his own shirt off. The sight of him above me with all that ink and all those scars against the sky makes me reach for him with hands that tremble for reasons that have nothing to do with fear.

“Now,” I tell him, spreading my legs wider to make room. “Please. Now.”

He doesn’t make me ask again, settling between my thighs and pushing into me. Slow. So slow. The feeling of him filling me while the cold water swirls around our feet is almost too much—the contrast, the heat of him inside me against the chill everywhere else.

“Look at me,” he says. His eyes are burning, swirling with desire and the promise of a lifetime. “My fiancée.”

He pulls back and thrusts deeper. I moan so loud a gull startles off a rock somewhere nearby. “Mine. On my beach. Wearing my ring.”

“Your beach?” I manage. Even now, with him inside me, I can’t help being myself. “You don’t own the beach.”

“I own everything that matters right now.” He rolls his hips, and I lose the ability to argue. One hand grips my thigh, hitching it higher and changing the angle. The sound that comes out of me isn’t a word in any language.

He sets a rhythm that matches the waves: slow, relentless.

The whole time, his voice is low and rough in my ear, telling me how I feel around him.

How tight I am, how perfect. “I’m never letting you go.

” He drives deeper, straight to my core.

“Not your mind or your annex or this tight pussy. Never.”

The dirty talk should make me blush, and it does, but it also makes me tighten around him. When he feels it, he groans against my neck. “Again,” he demands. “Come again for me. I want to feel it. Come on my cock, Stella.”

I don’t think I can. I’m still buzzing from the first one, trembling, but his hand slides between us and his thumb finds my clit again, and my eyes roll back in my head. The whole time he keeps moving. Talking. Saying my name like it’s the only word he knows. “Stella... oh, fuck, Stella...”

The second one builds faster than I’m ready for and crashes over me the way the waves crash. Inevitable. Enormous. I feel him follow, the rhythm breaking, his whole body going still with my name in his mouth one final time as he buries himself deep and lets go.

We stay like that for a long time. The water laps at our legs, and his forehead pressed against mine while our breathing slows together.

“Tristan?” I whisper once I have enough breath to speak again.

“Yeah?”

“I might need to come back here. A lot. For research purposes.” When he pulls his head back, searching my face, I add, “I realize now I still don’t have the right shade of green for the inside of the waves. Now that I’ve seen it in person, I mean.”

A full smile. I actually get a full smile this time, wide and bright and filled with enough love to make my heart skip a beat. “We’ll come back.”

I know he means it. That’s the thing. So long as I want it, I’ve got it.

Right now, all I want is him. And I have him, along with his ring and his promise and everything else that’s ever really mattered.
