Chapter 140

Chapter One Hundred-Forty

Robin

After I’ve eaten the final pieces of chocolate left from the bar I brought with me in my pocket, I feel a little less shaky and bit more like I can find a way to flip my situation around. I’m only stuck in a normal bedroom, in a regular house. I didn’t let him sedate me with that tea.

I’m fully conscious and I should use that to my advantage.

So, I search for a light switch, and I find one on the wall near the door.

The room isn’t very big. There’s a twin bed against one wall, with a small closet crammed into the space between the end of the bed and the wall with the door.

The wall with the light switch is clear, except there’s a door near the head of the bed.

The wall with the head of the bed has a portrait of flowers above the bed, and that’s everything.

There’s no window, so there goes that plan.

I go over to the door by the head of the bed.

There’s no lock, and it opens inward when I turn the handle and push.

I find a light switch and discover it’s a shower room.

It’s too small to be a bathroom, I guess, but the fact that there’s a room attached to my bedroom that’s basically only a shower really doesn’t help with the creepy feelings I have about why I’ve been brought here.

I don’t intend to do what he wants, but I know men like him don’t care about consent.

My intentions might not matter.

That scares me, but I need to use that fear to find my path out of here.

I hear a scuffing sound, and it freezes me on the spot.

Another one, and then I see something white slip in under the door to the bedroom.

“What do you want?” I call out, knowing it’s him.

He doesn’t answer.

I listen and hear his footsteps move away.

I pick up the envelope and open it.

There’s a note inside, and a pill inside a small pouch.

Clearly, he doesn’t know I can’t read.

It doesn’t matter what the note says.

I know what he wants.

He already made that clear.

I put the pill down the shower drain.

The water will dissolve it.

Let him think I swallowed it.

I put the note and the empty pouch back in the envelope and push it back under the door.

I sit down on the edge of the bed and wait.

If it was a sedative, he’ll expect me to be knocked out soon.

If it was the morning after pill, he might decide I’ve done what he asked so he’ll let me out.

All I can do now is wait.
