Chapter 31
Felix
M y sister was getting along with Ophelia and Alisha like a house on fire, it warmed my heart to see it. The three of us were on a bar crawl before we’d try out a club called Lebendig in der Nacht which translated as Alive At Night . I’d never been as it’d only just opened but it was proving to be popular with people in our age category.
The bar we were in now was blasting cheesy Christmas tunes but I didn’t mind. I was with good company and Gosser beer, which was rare for me as I never usually drank this type of alcohol. At 9:30 pm, it was neither too busy nor too quiet. Give it an hour though and it would get busier. By then, we would have left.
I had one arm around Alisha as I chatted to Charlie and his girlfriend Nora who was very sweet. She was originally from Manila in the Philippines and often took Charlie with her to see her family there. She had tanned skin and dark, long brown hair. Her smile was kind and so was her personality, as she was quick to get to know me and the others. Charlie seemed to worship her and so did she.
“Fucking hell, this song.” Ophelia was already a little tipsy and had cursed at some of the song choices so far. This caused both Mira and Alisha to laugh until they started singing to annoy Ophelia further.
“Just join in.” Alisha nudged her friend.
“No, otherwise you won’t stop. Maybe I’ll ask the DJ to change the genre.”
“Bah, humbug!” Mira pouted, as she reached for her glass, causing herself to nearly tumble off her chair. I was quick to reach out and grab her arm before she could fall to the floor. Maybe I needed to be on the extra lookout for her tonight. Big brother duties.
“Thanks, big brother.” Mira patted my hand and then took a swig of her drink.
“Anytime.” I smiled back at her before turning my attention to the beautiful woman leaning against me. She smelt like cherries and all I wanted to do was get her in a room alone and taste every part of her.
The sex earlier had been absolutely sensational and now I was hooked. I wanted to be that man for her. One who would give her all the pleasure she deserved, to fuck her into oblivion and back. I’d noticed that tonight she gained a lot of male attention and the looks I gave them in return signalled mine . I didn’t want to be the jealous type nor to be possessive but like hell would I be letting this woman go? Absolutely not.
I didn’t just want her for days. I wanted her for longer. I had to bite that bitter pill though and accept that I’d be saying goodbye to her soon. She had a job and a family to get back to. If we had to do long-distance, then that’s what we’d do.
I didn’t want to grumble or feel sad tonight, so I relaxed into Alisha’s embrace and appreciated the gentle pecks on my cheek that she’d give me every so often. It felt like we had been doing this for much longer than a few days.
In the back of my mind, I wondered whether we moved too fast, but then when it came to romance and love in general, there didn’t have to be a time limit. If you felt something for someone and they felt the same for you, then what would be stopping you from pursuing what could be a great love story?
When I was little, I had always envisioned what my dream partner would be like. Kind, understanding and hopelessly in love with me. I wanted them to be a best friend as well as a partner. I already felt like Alisha was my best friend, even despite our cold start. If I could take back how I treated her initially, I would in a heartbeat.
In a way I was grateful, as it led us to now. I didn’t want to feel any regrets, as at the end of it we are human and we make mistakes. I’d accepted mine, and maybe my ex had too. We all had our damages, our own shit to get through. It’s what made us unique.
I took one more glance at Alisha, who was laughing at something Charlie had said and my heart swelled just watching her. I knew what was happening with my emotions and it didn’t scare me. I wanted her to consume me, to take whatever she needed from me and in return, I would give her the same.
“I think we should get going, I’m ready to get my groove on. I haven’t been dancing in a while.” Mira was fastening on her coat and then placed her empty glass on the table. Mine, I had nearly finished but I’d be able to down it quickly.
“I think Nora and I will head home, since I’ve got work tomorrow. I’m so jealous of you, Felix. Lucky bastard.” Charlie offered me his hand to shake but instead, I pulled him in for a hug. I was grateful for him even coming along and didn’t blame him for wanting to go home and get a good night’s sleep. Or maybe some alone time with Nora.
“Thanks for inviting us.” Nora was the next one to hug us all but not before exchanging numbers with the girls.
“Get home safely,” I told them before they headed off and six became four. Ready for wherever the night would take us, we made our way to the club which was a short taxi ride. I paid for the fare as it was just a few euros and had the cash on me.
As we got out of the taxi, we could see a small queue but it wasn’t particularly moving slow. We didn’t mind waiting, even if there was a chill in the air. At least it wasn’t snowing anymore. I’d always been used to it anyway.
With our identification ready to show the burly bouncer, as he was checking, the girls were growing more and more excited. I didn’t at all feel outnumbered and I was thankful Mira had Ophelia to talk to, so she wouldn’t be a third wheel. My sister looked stunning, well she always did, but she had styled her hair differently, outlined her eyes with glitter eyeliner, and was wearing a deep red dress that flowed underneath her. Of course it was freezing outside, so she was wearing a coat which enveloped her. I’d also done the same.
Ophelia also looked lovely too, she had shaded her eyelids two different colours and was wearing a slip black halter neck top with sparkles and dark brown trousers that hugged her legs. But my full attention was on Alisha, her long hair flowing around her shoulders in loose curls, her beautiful brown eyes were smouldering, and her choice in outfit was perfect. She always looked perfect but the way this little black dress looked on her, I had to stop myself from pulling her to one side and lifting her leg up so I could pound my cock hard inside her. I’d either be going to hers tonight or she’d be coming to mine. Either way, I wanted her in a bed.
“You look hot,” I whispered into Alisha’s ear so only she could hear. I felt her shiver against me which I absolutely loved. I could whisper more things to her if I wanted but the queue was moving and I couldn’t multitask. I’d save it for later.
“Finally,” Ophelia groaned as we were let inside, identification checked until the bouncer was satisfied. I always grimaced at the photo and needed to update my picture, my twenty-year-old self was a lot different to my almost twenty-eight-year-old self now.
Alisha slipped her hand into mine, our fingers intertwining. I had a feeling she would keep hold of me tonight, as she looked a little nervous. Walking inside the club, we could see how busy it was, with a sea of bodies dancing to the nostalgic music. At least they weren’t playing Christmas tunes. We then gave our coats to the man in the cloakroom, who gave us slips of paper with numbers on them so we could collect our coats later.
Mira was keen to buy the first round for us, diving into her glittery purse to pull out her debit card.
“Can you come with me, Ophelia? I don’t want to go on my own and perhaps we can give these lovebirds some privacy.” Mira smirked at us. Her observation of us throughout the night had been positive and at one point, she had pulled me aside to say that she really liked Alisha.
It was important for anyone I dated to get along with my sister and vice versa.
“Okay. Alisha, your usual?” Ophelia asked as Alisha nodded. Then she turned to me.
“Just water for now, please,” I said. I didn’t want to get too drunk tonight, especially since I’d probably have to be the sober one anyway and get the girls home safely. Plus, I didn’t always see the fun in totally losing myself.
“Oh, I spy a handsome man at the bar. See you guys in a bit!” Mira practically squealed, a side I hadn’t seen of her. I hoped people wouldn’t take advantage of her good nature tonight. She was too good for anyone, in my opinion, but maybe I was biassed.
Arm in arm, Ophelia and Mira made their way to the bar which was a ten-second walk. Alisha and I decided to sit at a nearby table, taking in the view of the club. It was quite trendy and upscale; the lights weren’t too flashy, but the decor and furniture was of good quality.
The seats were dark velvet and the tables were white and round, which counteracted with the seats. The music had changed to something smoother and the bodies in the crowd were swaying slowly to it. Whether Alisha and I would join, well I’d let her take the lead. Whatever she was comfortable with. I wasn’t much of a dancer but it was a perfect excuse to be up close with the woman I was crazy about.
“Bloody hell, it’s been a long time since I’ve been to one of these. I feel out of practice,” Alisha said delicately. Her hand had never left mine and I could tell she was nervous as her palm was slick with sweat. If she wanted to get out now, she just needed to say the word and we’d go.
“Are you alright? Tell me if you want to go. I’ll understand,” I uttered, raising our joined hands to my lips to kiss. I always worried about her, wanted her to be okay more than anything.
“I’m totally fine. I’ve got you guys.” Alisha beamed up at me. I didn’t want to press on and knew she would talk to me if things became too much. We had that level of trust already. It was refreshing.
“Okay,” I accepted and just as we were about to lean in for a kiss, Ophelia and Mira rejoined us.
“Oi, oi! Simmer down, you two!” Ophelia called, placing the drinks she was holding down on the table. I gratefully took my water, it was already starting to get warm in here. Alisha had Malibu and coke, which she’d said was one of her usuals.
“Thanks, girls. Bottoms up!” Alisha held out her glass so we could all clink ours together. We toasted to a great night. I secretly toasted to being given a new lease of life, newfound hope, and for crossing paths with Alisha. I was glad she had knocked into that first day we met and ever since then, she continued to knock the wind out of me. I felt breathless but floating at the same time. I didn’t want to come down from the clouds.
