24. Will
Chapter twenty-four
Will
I sleep peacefully with Mia’s legs tangled around mine, my arm slung loosely over her waist, hand cupping her breast. I wake a little after eight as the sun is starting to peek through the sides of the curtains.
Last night was fantastic. I hope she had as much fun as I did. I’m not overtly dominant in my day-to-day life, so I’m reasonably certain Mia has no idea that it’s my preference in the bedroom. She took it all in stride and it was the hottest thing ever. I’ll never forget how sexy she looked, ass in the air, begging for me.
After failing to get back to sleep, I give up and reach for my phone, mindlessly scrolling while snuggling Mia into my side. I could get used to long weekends like this, waking up next to the girl of my dreams. I end up on some influencer’s page who had posted pictures of the resort, gushing about how excited they were about the Christmas party last night.
My stomach flips as I recognize Mia and I in the background of one of the images. She looks stunning. We look amazing together. Having Mia on my arm, looking at me like that—it’s something out of a daydream, but I know she’ll feel exposed. She’ll be worried about our friends seeing the photos before she’s able to tell them. I’ll need to show her them later.
Telling them proactively is obviously the right thing to do, even though it will inevitably lead to some tough conversations since she has been keeping it from them.
Even though I don’t agree with Mia, I understand her side too. She doesn’t want anything to change. Not her job, not her relationships with our friends, maybe not even her and I.
Fuck. Could this have been a one-night thing? Is she resistant enough to avoid even this?
Mia stirs in my arms, snapping me out of my thoughts. I kiss across her shoulder and the back of her neck, squeezing her breast, waking up her nipple. I slowly slide my hand down her stomach. Her skin is so soft and inviting. Sliding my hand over her hip, I cup her, gently teasing with my fingers. Her legs part willingly as I explore. She’s wet and ready for me already. I smile into her shoulder in satisfaction. I hope she dreamed of me.
“Spread your legs for me, Limpet. I need to fuck you.” She spreads eagerly, and I rip off the covers so I can watch myself slide into her. I gently stretch her legs so they’re resting on my shoulders, then tease her entrance with the head of my cock.
“Pinch your nipples for me. I want to watch you.” She nods, and immediately complies, a glazed look of concentration on her face.
“Like this?” Her eyes meet mine.
“There’s my good girl.” I kiss her calf and push myself into her more deeply. She lifts her hips to force me inside.
“Hey! I thought you were a good girl.” I give her calf a little nip, and she squeaks in shock. “Hands back to your nipples.” I slid deeper into her, but this time, hold her hips so she can’t raise up into me.
“There you go. You want this cock?” She nods, and I slam myself home.
At breakfast, I end up chatting with the older couple at the table next to us while Mia heads back to the buffet. They’ve been coming to the resorts for twenty years. Their children have now grown up, but the resorts have always been a place where they’ve made great memories and a place they can reconnect as a couple. When I mention I’m here with Mia, they immediately recognize her name.
“Mia, yes, she’s Craig’s sister, is that right?” The man has a light German accent.
“That’s right, yes. How do you know about her? She’s been wanting to know.”
The man waves his hand. “Craig’s been talking about her for months. He’s been desperate to find her.” Craig had been sharing that with guests ? I made a mental note to tell Mia later. “Well, isn’t it good that she’s here. I do hope she manages to sort some of this mess out.” The woman frowns, brushing rogue crumbs from the table.
“You mean—”
“Yes, I mean the nonsense with—” The woman looks around, then cups her hand around her mouth. “—Bryce, of course.” Her eyes dart around again, and she smooths her hands down her cream jersey, as if satisfied that she has gotten away with her gossip. I’m torn between finding out more information and defending Mia, but decide she’d prefer I get more information.
I lower my voice to match hers, moving close to the pair. “I’ve only heard rumors, I don’t know anything concrete. What’s going on?”
The woman looks delighted that I asked. “Bryce, as you probably have heard, has taken things upon himself to run the show around here ever since poor Craig’s tragic accident.” Her husband picks up the thread.
“This joker has been all over the resorts for years, I think he’s always been jealous that Craig was going to inherit so much of the place.” The man coughs, covering his mouth with a monogrammed handkerchief.
Mia appears back at the table. The stormy look on her face tells me she definitely heard what the man said.
“Now he’s doing everything he can to squeeze the place for profits, to hell with the history of the place.” He rubs his hand over his wife’s back. “At least, that’s my take on this, and I’ve seen a few things, I’ll tell you that.”
“Hello, Mia, dear. I’m Julia, and this is my husband, George.”
Mia greets them. “Sorry, don’t let me interrupt what you were saying.”
Julia's head bobs in agreement. “He’s always been like this, Bryce. He was jealous, even as a child, wasn’t he, George?”
George nods. “That’s right, he was. Even as a boy, I remember him coming here with his family. He was always getting his hands on things that didn’t belong to him. And he’s doing the same thing now. Craig must be rolling in his grave.”
Mia catches my eye and grimaces.
“He’s not running the place the way Craig would like?” I ask.
“He most definitely is not!” Julia exclaims, outraged. She certainly is worked up. “He’s doing everything Craig avoided for years. He’s cutting costs all over the place.” Julia looks at Mia expectantly. I want to jump in and defend her, but I know she needs to fight her own battles right now.
“I’ve heard a few things about how things are going here, unfortunately.” Mia keeps her tone even.
Julia looks positively bursting. “I absolutely knew you would do something about Bryce, Mia.” She leans across the table to touch Mia’s arm. “You are your mother’s daughter, after all. I knew, didn’t I, George? I said exactly that, just last week.”
George nods along, grinning over at Mia. “I was saying, there’s no way you’d stand for this, absolutely no way.”
I see Mia’s jaw tightening across the table, and watch her take a deep breath.
She nods, looking Julia in the eye.
“You will be putting a stop to it, then?” Julia demands.
“I know there are lots of people who have very strong ties to the resorts. And I know for many guests, the resorts play a large role in their families.” Mia is picking her words extremely carefully. That’s her experience as a lawyer coming to the surface and shining. I love seeing her in her element like this. Neither of us miss Julia's building frown. “I can assure you, next week, I’ll be taking steps to resolve the situation,” she says.
Both Julia and George's shoulders slump in relief. "Oh, good," Julia says.
“Obviously, I can’t talk further about what steps I will be taking, but thank you for bringing this to my attention, and rest assured, there will be action.”
She gives the pair such a confident smile, even I believe her.
