Chapter 13 - Kennedy

“Bitch, you’ve been holed up in Relic’s house, taking big black cock for weeks! Don’t act like I’m hurting you.”

Kennedy lifted her head but then allowed it fall onto the waxing bed, closing her eyes after Nubia snatched her damn soul by tearing another wax strip off her pussy.

Had she known how badly the shit hurt, she would’ve stuck to the hair removal creams she used that did the job just fine.

She couldn’t wait until they were done, so she could curse Michi and Lexi to hell for convincing her that waxing was a better alternative.

“First off, I’ve never taken cock, so miss me with that. Second, just because I’m staying with Relic doesn’t mean we’re fucking.”

Another slab of warm wax spread across her mound, making her groan as Nubia spat, “Bitch, please. With how they said y’all were acting on the trip, I know your back is getting blown the hell out on the regular.”

“It’s really not. I’ve been busy with the salon, and he’s been squaring away shit with the record label. Getting my back blown out hasn’t been at the top of the priority list.”

Kennedy wished she could say she’d told Nubia a lie, but it was the truth.

The free time and peace she and Relic had on their trip was short-lived because, the second they touched down home, life went back to lifing.

They weren’t back for two full days when Aura was found, blindfolded and tied up, behind the same club that she’d partied at the night she was taken.

The building’s outside cameras didn’t work, which meant the police had no leads, so the internet was still abuzz with gossip and theories.

There wasn’t any telling how long it’d last, so Relic jumped at the chance to take advantage of Aura’s five minutes of fame.

In the same week, he’d rented a performing venue for a show, tossed Aura back into the booth, and reopened his other businesses as well.

Relic had been in go mode for the past two weeks, so there were days Kennedy didn’t see his face before dozing off, or he trudged in at the wee hours of the morning.

She knew it was his method of running from the inevitable coming his way.

“I find it hard to believe that you ain’t getting fucked, but I’ll take your word for it, even though you’re a known liar,” Nubia jabbed, reeling her back into their discussion.

Kennedy smirked but then winced as a wax strip was snatched off one of her lips. She was close to punching her girl in the head if she hurt her again.

“Why am I a liar, Nu?”

“Because your sneaky ass has been holding out on the fact you fucked Relic! You must’ve thought that we would judge you about it.”

“No. I just didn’t see the point in bringing him up for y’all to do the most about a nigga I know, I’ll never have a serious relationship with. It was business, and we both got a little pleasure out of it here and there.”

“Kennedy, you’re staying with the man, and Los told me that Relic bought the truck and purse I’d asked about, too.

Talking ‘bout, you put in work for it. Your sneaky ass sure as hell did.” Her eyes rolled when Nubia peeked her head up to shoot her a pointed look.

“With that being said, I hate to break it to you, but you’re in a relationship.

There might not be a label on it, but that’s what it is.

Los was the same way with me. Labels freak them out, so you have to go by their actions sometimes. ”

“No, they need to grow bigger balls and speak up like they do about everything else. It’s not that fucking hard to say they want to make things official. But speaking of Los, have you talked to Savvy outside of the group chat yet?”

“Girl, I can barely talk to her ass in there. You see, she skips over my messages most of the time.”

Kennedy pushed out a slow breath of relief as Nubia started rubbing a cool gel over her sensitive skin, signaling the near end of her torture.

“I noticed, but she claimed she wasn’t tripping about it anymore when I asked her.”

“Two things can be true. She’s not tripping, but she’s also choosing not to fuck with me because of it. I don’t see what the big deal is, though. We all had someone’s man at the top of our lists, so why is she mad at me? Her cousin’s man was number two on hers, but Michi didn’t trip.”

“Because Michi doesn’t feel like Savvy will try to fuck her nigga.”

“Wow. Noted.”

Nubia started tossing her used supplies into the trash and then began cleaning off her cart, so Kennedy sat up.

“We’re done, right?”

“Mhm, but you should let me get your butt cheeks the next time. It’s some hair there I can—”

“Bitch, if you don’t leave me the hell alone! I’ll smack some removal cream between there and rub that shit off in five minutes. I’m good.” Kennedy scrambled off the bed to grab her panties and jeans while adding, “I didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers with what I said.”

“It’s cool. I already know it didn’t come from you, so it is what it is. If Savvy feels like that, she should’ve said something to me, especially since she’s the main one who makes it like she doesn’t talk about anyone.”

“Savvy didn’t tell me that. Your butt buddy did.”

Nubia looked confused but then spit out a laugh after it registered who Kennedy meant.

Her head tossed as she tore off the disposable bed protector sheet to apply a new one for her next customer.

Of all the people who ran their mouths about her, Lexi should’ve been the last bitch to do so with all the dirt she had on that girl.

“What’d she say?”

Kennedy tugged up her jeans and relayed, “That you and Savvy were real close at one point, since you were the first one she met, but y’all kind of fell off after you got into a fight with Shabu’s ex-girlfriend that you never liked and basically told everyone you wished Los was him.”

“That is not what the fuck I said!”

“I’m just telling you what she said to me.

You pretty much said you were jealous of his girl because she had the relationship you wanted and that you wish Los was more like Shabu.

Then, after that, it came out that you made him take you to get an abortion and nobody but y’all knew.

If that was my nigga, I’d be looking at you funny, too, boo. ”

“Because the way y’all put it sounds worse than it is,” she retorted, running it back in her head before cringing. “It does sound bad, though.”

“Exactly! If that was Los beating up Savvy’s exes and taking her to get abortions, or complaining how he wished you were more like her—”

Nubia raised her palm to cut Kennedy short.

“I get it, hoe. In my defense, when I said it, it came from a place of pain. I would’ve said the same shit about Titan and Michi, or Pierre if him and Treasure were together back then.

He was treating Lexi like shit, so I didn’t have anything to be jealous of with them. ”

“Oop, not you throwing shots. So, you’re mad?”

“Very much pissed off because Lexi is literally in my old shoes. Everything with P and Tres, it’s he ain’t do this for me, or he didn’t treat me like that.

The only difference is that Los wasn’t with another girl, so I saw comparisons in good relationships around me.

I was bitter, and I could admit that, but I never wanted Shabu.

As far as that damn list, I only put him at two ‘cause I didn’t want Los having a fit if I put Pierre there, and it still backfired. ”

Kennedy gaped as she stuffed her feet into her shoes. “So, you think Pierre looks good?” she instigated, making Nubia laugh.

“Girl, P was always cute to me, but he got fine as hell when he went to jail and got his weight up. Then, his bad boy persona, and the tattoos. I ain’t even mad at Treasure for busting it open for a real nigga. But while we’re on the subject, didn’t Lexi have your nigga at her number one?”

“Oh, baby, I peeped, and I already told Pierre that she wants to fuck his cousin,” she admitted, and Nubia keeled over in laughter.

“I ain’t lying! She’s been asking me since she found out I fucked Relic if it’s good, and I pay that ass dust every time.

I don’t put my business in that chat for a reason, love. ”

“Lexi is messy as hell, just like her baby daddy, but I don’t think she’d try Relic now that she knows you fuck with him.”

Kennedy hummed and swiped her purse off the cute accent chair below a neon wall light that read, all hail to the V. She and Lexi had grown tight, but she was never one to believe that being a friend made her exempt from getting backstabbed. At the end of the day; Kennedy didn’t put it past her.

“How much do I owe you?” she asked. Nubia strolled to her suite door, opening it as she sniggered.

“Don’t think I ain’t notice how you didn’t agree about Lexi, but it’s paid for. Your man sent it to me this morning, so you must’ve told him that you were coming.”

“I did. Had to give his ass some incentive to hurry the hell home, so I can get some of the dick you think I get on the regular. Relic doesn’t sit the fuck down, girl.”

“You ain’t gotta tell me, ‘cause Los is right behind his ass. Like, why are y’all joined at the fucking hips again all of a sudden.

I hate them together. They turn into little ass boys, bickering and competing with each other ‘bout who got this or did that better. Either that, or they’re in cahoots, doing some fuck boy shit. They get on my nerves.”

Kennedy laughed as they strutted out of the suite and then the main door onto the sidewalk. She couldn’t agree with Nubia more.
